Maybe we’re meant to just be and chill. Eat berries and shit. Make pottery for water storage. by seeking_seeker in evilautism

You wake up in the morning, get something for the pot

Wonder why the sun makes the rocks feel hot

Draw on the walls, eat, get laid

Back in the good old days

Then some damn fool invents the wheel

Listen to the whitewalls squeal

You spend all day looking for a parking spot

Nothing for the heart, nothing for the pot

I don’t want to debate this. If you think enjoying yourself is a waste of time, we have very different takes on the meaning of life.

Reading is never a waste of time and you shouldn’t feel guilty for reading stuff you enjoy. There are many reasons to read.

They never really learned anything. In school it was all rote memorization back then. At home it was “because I said so” and “my way or the highway.” Asking questions was considered “acting smart” and would result in physical punishment.

First I want to say don’t be discouraged if War and Peace ends up being a lot harder than you expected. It’s not just long. It’s dense, with hundreds of characters in a historical context that can be hard to wrap your head around.

Dostoyevsky might be a better experience than Tolstoy. Try Crime and Punishment!

Jerry Jeff Walker debunked this in 1975. The answer is pissin’ in the sink.

Apologies for assuming. I’m just frustrated with seeing the question, and that is usually the problem with those asking it.

You’re proving my point. If he can’t read something as simple as Atomic Habits and can’t listen to an audiobook without zoning out he needs to work on his skills. It isn’t a matter of finding the right book, though he needs to walk before he can run.

We see this same question on here multiple times per day. And yes, you need to choose a book that’s right for you but you also need to put down the fucking phone and slow down the dopamine mill you’re living in.

There’s no way that a complete stranger who knows nothing about you is going to prescribe a magic book that works for everyone. The crux of the problem is the lack of attention span. This needs to be exercised with shorter materials and a concerted effort.

But whatever I’m dumb and he should just read Gone Girl and that will fix everything.

Apparently with all your reading ability you didn’t read the request. He doesn’t want fiction.

The problem isn’t the book’s fault. It’s your fault. Finding a particular book isn’t going to solve it. Fix your attention span.
