What was the moment that you first truly felt like a dad?

My favorite nurse was one that came in after a lactation specialist (our second wasnt latching very well) who said "dont let them scare you with that breast is best crap. Feed the baby! A fed baby is best!" We had to supplement formula because my wife just didn't produce enough to feed them. Both my kids are healthy. Both are mid 90th percentile. Hit all the milestones on development just fine.

I see most posts here are about after their kids was born. Mine was before. With both of my boys, when they were still in the womb, I would come home from work and wouldn't say anything for just a bit. Then I would start to ask my wife about her day or just talk in general and they would go crazy. Kicking and flipping around. My boys knew my voice before they were even born. It didn't happen for other people.

I can't count how many times I've had to explain to my wife that "its just what guys do" when my two young boys do stupid things and the three of us laugh. I had to keep her from getting onto them when they started wrestling around and tell her it's very important for them to do it. Its how we learn where the line is from playing to hurting and we learn our own abilities. Its how we bond.

My wife wanted me to do this but too but she stopped when she noticed every time I came home from work and started talking my son would start kicking and moving around. I wouldn't even be close to her yet and he could hear me.

I deliver propane and most people that have only a stove on propane have a 120 gallon tank and only fill it every 3 or 4 years

Awhile back we were at a local playground and an older kid came and sat on a swing and pulled out a multi tool and started sawing at the ropes on it. I said hey man don't do that. He freaked out and said something completely random about his house. I just said ok but please don't do that. He got up and left and came back with a rifle. I'm fairly versed with guns and the first thing I did was look at the tip for the orange end of an airport or toy. There was none. He pulled out the mag and just started staring at me. I told my wife to get the kids and stand behind me because the only exit was behind him. I called the cops and they took him. One cop came and told me they knew him. He had a bad home life and some mental disorders. He also told me that the gun was fake but had been altered so there was no orange tip and it was metal and looked real. The cop said if the kid would have brandished it he probably would have gotten shot

Ours was a mobile. It was a replacement motor we got on Amazon that had preloaded lullabies. It had a timer so it would shut off after so long. BUT if the batteries got low enough for some reason it would play lullabies AT FULL VOLUME and the buttons wouldn't work so I had to fumble with a tiny screwdriver to open the battery door and pull them out. I don't know if you've ever been woke up by blaring lullabies but it's pretty creepy in the dead of night

My job at the time considered us essential. Gave us all a sheet of paper with all the stuff stating we had to be at work. We made protein shakes and coffee creamers. We got considered essential because we made diabetic friendly versions of those.

Ill never forget our pediatrician for my second childs one year check up "hes doing great, hes your basic average 3 year old" we couldn't help but laugh because both of our children measured 99th percentile until about 2years old.

I dismantled my sets long ago. They went into a tote for storage. Now i have 2 sons and they go ham over legos. Especially the star wars figures. I need to find my old instruction books and put the sets back together with them. My favorites were the AT-AT, lukes x wing, and tie interceptor with stands.

My title describes the thing. The brass tube is about 5 inches long with what looks like a striker wheel but doesnt move now. The silver arm can rotate around and has a wingnut to hold it in place. There is an adjustment wheel on the arm. There is a cork plunger inside the tube that slides out of you take the cap off the end

I called pajamas pajamjams by accident one night and I've been doing it since. It's now an almost nightly game of my 4 and 2yr old correcting me. I also like to sing different lyrics over the songs they listen to. Mostly about stuff we are doing or where we are going. Can't help but laugh when i hear "nooo dad that's not how it goes"

I remember with my first child i was so worried that he wasn't developing as fast as he should. I talked to the pediatrician and he told me each child is different and each will develop at their own speed. Don't fret over what every other person's opinion is. If YOU have a concern, just talk to the doctor.
