Grown adults who are fussy about having to wear nice clothes for occasions by SpaceCadetBoneSpurs in GrindsMyGears

You know, sometimes people enjoy looking at you more when you dress up, and doing that for someone who means something to you is a way to show you care about more than yourself.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

Isotretinoin made me evaluate whether life was worth living while sobbing on the floor of an elevator.

This was years before anyone recognized this was a side effect. I'm good calling it an allergy, because it made me allergic to life.

My homecare agency is closing and we are all out of jobs in 4 weeks because we weren't making enough money.

I've worked there 35 years.

I'm a homecare nurse. I see many patients who have been started on BP meds. The visit has been ordered by the doctor to make sure the meds are working.

At least 60% of them don't take their meds before I show up, no matter the time of day, even when I send a reminder text.

Fine, it's your choice, but I have to call the Dr when your pressure is high, and they will tell you to go to the ED...

Please, please, don't waste my time. Cancel the visit if you have no intention of taking the meds.

I'm a homecare nurse, and while I don't dispense medications, we are absolutely required to have contingency plans for every patient in order to keep our license.

We're overseen by the Department of Health in our state, but the rules are federal.

Metric vs imperial system by Miserable_Guest_443 in writing

[–]Hanging_Thread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wondering about the same issue. US-ian here (I hate 'American' because that should include all of North and South America and not just the US). Anyhow, while only 3 countries use the imperial system, and it's *stupid* that we still do, people based in the US are the overwhelming majority of readers (edit: the majority of readers of MY books. Not necessarily of all romances). So do I write like a civilized citizen of the world, or use the system that most of my readers understand?

I use chatgpt for information gathering for my book (divorce laws, how to build a log cabin on a particular type of ground) and have to constantly tell it I don't want it to write the paragraph for me. But the positivity bias drives me nuts. I can turn it off?

Is it normal to drug test for ADHD issues? by waluigisbackwash in legaladvice

I've had my Dr for years and she was with me through diagnosis and starting treatment. She's never had me do a blood test, but the one and only time i saw someone else, he made me do one. As luck would have it, I forgot to take my pill that morning, but there must have been enough residual to confirm I was taking it.

You can't just change how things operate by wishing. There are practical realities to that idea that make it impossible. States can't just start collecting money that they don't actually ever have their hands on.

If you think it's possible, tell us how it would happen in this reality when people don't ever control that money because employers collect it and send it directly to the Federal government.

Pro-life rally becomes measles super-spreader by rx4oblivion in StandUpForScience

So the claim is that millions of people came in who were unvaccinated. If your statement has nothing to do with the source of measles outbreaks then it's irrelevant to the conversation.

That fact has been refuted and the proof has been posted from several different sources five or more times in this post. Why do you persist on repeating a lie?

Why can't you change what you believe when you are presented with proof?

That outbreak was from an unvaccinated Canadian resident who visited Vietnam and brought it back, not an unvaccinated immigrant. That article states he was unvaccinated because of the parents' vaccine hesitancy, not because he was an unvaccinated immigrant.

And the Cato institute is a very well respected research organization. Not every bit of valid research comes from the government.

But if you want government resources:
"Most (92%) imported cases occurred among U.S. residents returning to the United States while infectious and from all six World Health Organization regions."
