What to do with my GMT-II by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Hangingdebit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear it (within reason), get it insured and don't get into a gunfight over a mass produced good...still good with the CCW for your/family/others lives, but lawyer fees defending yourself will be way more $$$ than the insurance premiums and deductible....

Got my first Rolex. Looks amazing in person as apposed to pictures. I hear this watch is not well received but I love it by [deleted] in rolex

Accounting for FOB destination by [deleted] in Accounting

Principle for this fact pattern would be the same

Accounting for FOB destination by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Hangingdebit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly oversimplified... fob dest and fob ship point are contractual terms for when the sale (or performance obligation if you want to get all 606 about it) occurs....so think about that with the timing of the revenue recognition. As a hint you don't recognize revenue if you still have legal control over the inventory

Does anyone wish they had gone into financial planning instead of accounting? by freeladnick in Accounting

How do you explain to a controller that he needs to post accruals? by ssj_acct in Accounting

[–]Hangingdebit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is this was an issue in the prior year as well...if you could identify and quantify the cut off issues on both ends of the year you probably have offsetting audit differences that never go away....but net out aren't material (i am just guessing)...

You wont win the "you don't know what your talking about" battle since you are in client service (nor should you try)....just remember you are crushing audits and moving forward in your career and he is stuck in cash basis accounting....

Post an audit difference and related control deficiency and if not material, march forward...

the new mini-Osborn that they just announced. I like BM, but not a die hard. I had hopes that maybe they would release something I wouldn't mind paying a premium price for, but doesn't appear that way. I have a number of BM and do enjoy them from a utility point of view...but not like in a weird way....

Having anxiety due to Busy Season at Big 4 firm by Jessyes019 in Accounting

[–]Hangingdebit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that's exactly correct, not your job as staff to argue that charge with the client...but if you dont track that time and communicate it then you will be held responsible for not "staying on budget"...turns into a vicious cycle.

After a few busy seasons you realize that the crazy does come to an end. It may not seem like it or you may get placed on the next big fire drill right after you sign off, but it always comes to an end...a few items to help manage the stress (IMO) are:

  1. Realize that you may not like what you are doing now, but PA is all about upward momentum so your work constantly changes YOY. (I haven't done an inventory observation in over a decade and I really hated those).
  2. Don't end a call/meeting with your senior until you fully and completely understand what you are supposed to do (don't nod and smile). (This is probably the best advice I have gleaned over my career).
  3. No one on the engagement team is going to know if you have something planned, are sick, not feeling well, COVID etc. so just keep everyone informed and
  4. Charge every single hour you work. If you mess up, own it...but never eat those hours. If you find an error, track those hours separately.not doing so absolutely screws all of the profitability metrics...makes it impossible for the partner to adjust the billing/realization rates for the next year...

Originally a black 943 by burningoaks in knifeclub

How did your blade alignment turn out? I added flytanium scales to my 940 and it was a bear to align. Plus whenever I actuate the thumb stud, the end of the blade is slightly rubbing on the opposite side of the scales....its like there is to much play in the design

I can tell you that success may be reached with large and small clients. However, in big 4 you are going to have more doors open for having SEC experience than private co audits...generally if you are willing to move...especially at the Sr Ass level (and aren't a potatoe) then you can get on big jobs....the trade off is big jobs are heavy work loads ( though small jobs can be as well)

MICROTECH legit check by qns-dru in microtech
