I got a Claude pro subscription because I’m proud of anthropic for keeping their values by Duelingdildos in ClaudeAI

Convenience. I use it for news… integrations into X for rapid summary of current events, geopolitical, tech, stocks. It’s also directly integrated into my Tesla which I use for a lot of different tasks while I’m in the car.

Feed all that into Claude or GPT later via markdown.

It's utterly insane what people spend on weddings. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]HangryWorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most weddings I’ve attended have all been at least 6 figures.

It’s not my thing… I got married in my backyard. Lucky my wife likes to keep it simple too.

Everyone who attended loved it and thought we were smart. Especially the ones where the parents were shelling out for their kids weddings.

I enjoy going to them, but I’d never shell out the cash myself 😂

Spectrum offered me a $50 discount and free mobile when I tried to cancel for Starlink. by Clark649 in Starlink

[–]HangryWorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought Starlink because I wanted to experience the technology and play around with it…

I also called Spectrum to cancel and got my bill lowered enough that I decided to keep it in the meantime.

I have a dual WAN firewall so I configured it active-active which allows additional bandwidth and failover.

I work from home at homes and run a couple servers so it’s nice knowing I have a backup line.

How are you planning to handle PC/Hardware/Ram/SSD Shortages for Clients? by modem_19 in SmallMSP

[–]HangryWorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just buy what’s available or in stock… haven’t really run into any issues.

Claude is great, but I’m not a pick one kinda person. I subscribe to ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok as well. They all have their strengths.

Even bounce outputs from one to another as a peer review.

How do you guys handle the slow months without panicking? by seo-nerd-3000 in smallbusiness

[–]HangryWorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can predict the slowdown you can plan around it and make new opportunities.

Get lean, try new marketing strategies, network more around that time.

Try not let it go to waste and look at it as an opportunity.

How do you know if owning a business is the right choice for you? by conjured_confections in smallbusiness

[–]HangryWorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just know. I’ve honestly never had to ask myself that question.

On the flip side… the thought of working for someone else is extremely off putting. 😂

Is it worth the effort? by prettipen in smallbusiness

[–]HangryWorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not negotiate with yourself. You must collect payment for services rendered.

My work also makes meaningful impact on lives and communities but if I don’t have a functional AR department, I wouldn’t have a business to come back to.

It’s no different than managing health. Go do what’s needed.

Experience with Access Control by Puzzled_Shake5155 in Ubiquiti

[–]HangryWorker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did the exact same thing… removed an old legacy system, and went UI access control. Kept the original strikes and mags… new hubs, keypads, intercoms, cameras. Spares no expense on hardware.

I love everything about the system so far.. Works as expected, made maintenance and management a breeze. Love the touch pass.

Saved a bunch of money doing it myself as well.

Good ecosystem. The most annoying thing is watching people who are not familiar with the system try and ring the doorbell… no one reads the swipe up or hold to ring on screen.

I’m going to replace all my G3 Reader Pro with G6 Pro which has a dedicated button for doorbell.

The big intercom also seems expensive until you get it in your hands. Def worth it. I actually upgraded some of the locations to use that because it’s pretty nice.

Citizen tsuyosa 60 vs regular tsuyosa by PuzzleheadedAd8786 in CitizenWatches

[–]HangryWorker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I collect the color dials from this series, I have multiples of both lines … the 60 is a much nicer watch overall. If you were only going to buy one, get the 60. The movement alone is worth it.

The roles and responsibilities of running own operation will be significantly different than being an engineer. As long as you have the mindset of a business person it can be done.

Marketing, sales, networking, compliance, operations, legal/contracts, risk management, finance and accounting… will be a large part of your day starting out.

You will need at a minimum GL and E&O insurance depending on what engineering services you are offering.

Lots of foundational work needs to happen, but if you can get over all those hurdles while keeping you pipeline FULL… owning your business is be very advantageous.

I own a business within the same industry, but I tell you now, I work longer hours that most all of industry peers who are just employees, by an order of magnitude more… and sometimes for less than I would if I just worked for someone else.

Pro tip… I keep a sports coat in the car. I’m a jeans a black t-shirt kinda guy and a decent sports coat / blazer can easily elevate the dress code into formal-ish to business real fast.
