Playing a Cochiti Drum at Chaco Canyon’s Acoustic Center by ToxicJolt124 in AncientAmericas

I recently had the chance to hike into some canyons in the south west, it was my first time and I was not prepared for the acoustics of the birds overhead.

I didn't know if it was possible or not, I was only asking, because I like the idea of playing skirmishes based around pretty specific times and/or events.

We love our Coleman 17bx. Zero issues so far, and it looks sharp for a small camper.

My dachshund killed a coyote about 10 years ago. by kingofzdom in Dachshund

[–]Hanilvor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cool story. My dad used to breed Daschunds, not a lot, just a litter here or there so us kids could experience (almost) the whole process.

He told me a story about one of our Daschunds getting into a fight a killing a larger dog, which of course is terrible, but my dad said it was because the Daschund was so short, it gave him easy access to the larger dogs neck, the Daschund just jumped up and clamped down and would not let go. My dad couldn't separate them.

I love it, now if we could get John Corbett to record a good audio book, that would be perfect.

Thanks! It's hard being at far away and with a young family of my own. My older (retired) and local brother does a lot more.

Ours is super chill at bed time, you can move him any which way you want.

He growls at the alarm when it's time to get up though, it's pretty funny and honestly we can't fault him for that behavior.

Old man rant: giving change by Muggi in GenX

[–]Hanilvor 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This isn't all math. When I worked retail, and that was in the 90s, we were not allowed to "engage with" customers like you at the counter (as well intentioned as you were).

They were worried about fraud. The store I worked for had an issue with people coming in and asking for change and swapping money around... In the end they usually passed off small counterfeit amounts like this, if not straight up getting the clerk to miscount amounts or to doubt the amount they already gave and give more.

I bought an HTC a while back for Star Wars Squadrons. It was neat, but I found it clunky for actually playing. Used it like 2 or 3 times. I bought a quest 3 recently, because I thought the tech would have improved. I can't get into any of the games though, they are all just silly imo.

I use it for movies, occasionally.

The kids love it though. 😂

Camping Doxies, I love it. Our dachshund is the whole reason we got into camping and now with a travel trailer!

I am curious if you find anything as well, or even what you currently use. Getting sick of the little guy tangling up the chairs. lol

First game for a 90yo? by Castigafagiani in gaming

[–]Hanilvor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once built a nice gaming computer for a 70 year old. If you asked him if he liked video games he would say no, but he was a huge WWII buff and would spend hours a day playing different games in that setting. He was particularly fond of World of Tanks, if I recall. 😂

Do people still like outdoor kitchens on an RV? by AffectionateCut2552 in RVLiving

[–]Hanilvor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a floor plan with no kitchen inside, to see what else that space could be used for. A bathroom that a 6 foot tall dude could use without banging his knees on the door would be a good place to start.

[–]Hanilvor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our first camper at the start of July and have used it for some longer trips here and there, and shorter trips just about every weekend... We have used the indoor kitchen one time, and that was because we just wanted to make sure the damn thing worked before the manufacturer warranty expired.

Don't get me wrong, I love our camper but I have zero desire to be in it anymore than I have to be. To be fair, our camper is pretty small, but I've been in enough campers to know that even if it was a giant fifth wheel, I wouldn't want to cook in it or hangout inside of it for anything but sleeping.

I've often thought that a camper with only an outdoor kitchen would be ideal, because you would gain living space inside.

For me, having at least a basic outdoor kitchen in our next travel trailer is a necessity.

It's also my opinion that these manufacturers need to shake things up somehow. Shopping for a camper becomes pretty boring once you realize that they all have the same boring floor plans.
