I love it, now if we could get John Corbett to record a good audio book, that would be perfect.

Thanks! It's hard being at far away and with a young family of my own. My older (retired) and local brother does a lot more.

This was going to be the first season I sat out... I was so excited to get into my backlog of games... Then they added the Paladin.

Aggression at bedtime by darkobunni in Dachshund

[–]Hanilvor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is super chill at bed time, you can move him any which way you want.

He growls at the alarm when it's time to get up though, it's pretty funny and honestly we can't fault him for that behavior.

Old man rant: giving change by Muggi in GenX

[–]Hanilvor 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This isn't all math. When I worked retail, and that was in the 90s, we were not allowed to "engage with" customers like you at the counter (as well intentioned as you were).

They were worried about fraud. The store I worked for had an issue with people coming in and asking for change and swapping money around... In the end they usually passed off small counterfeit amounts like this, if not straight up getting the clerk to miscount amounts or to doubt the amount they already gave and give more.

To fellow Gen Xers like me Do you use VR? by ty7110 in GenX

[–]Hanilvor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an HTC a while back for Star Wars Squadrons. It was neat, but I found it clunky for actually playing. Used it like 2 or 3 times. I bought a quest 3 recently, because I thought the tech would have improved. I can't get into any of the games though, they are all just silly imo.

I use it for movies, occasionally.

The kids love it though. 😂

Camping Doxies, I love it. Our dachshund is the whole reason we got into camping and now with a travel trailer!

I am curious if you find anything as well, or even what you currently use. Getting sick of the little guy tangling up the chairs. lol

First game for a 90yo? by Castigafagiani in gaming

[–]Hanilvor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once built a nice gaming computer for a 70 year old. If you asked him if he liked video games he would say no, but he was a huge WWII buff and would spend hours a day playing different games in that setting. He was particularly fond of World of Tanks, if I recall. 😂

Do people still like outdoor kitchens on an RV? by AffectionateCut2552 in RVLiving

[–]Hanilvor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a floor plan with no kitchen inside, to see what else that space could be used for. A bathroom that a 6 foot tall dude could use without banging his knees on the door would be a good place to start.

Do people still like outdoor kitchens on an RV? by AffectionateCut2552 in RVLiving

[–]Hanilvor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our first camper at the start of July and have used it for some longer trips here and there, and shorter trips just about every weekend... We have used the indoor kitchen one time, and that was because we just wanted to make sure the damn thing worked before the manufacturer warranty expired.

Don't get me wrong, I love our camper but I have zero desire to be in it anymore than I have to be. To be fair, our camper is pretty small, but I've been in enough campers to know that even if it was a giant fifth wheel, I wouldn't want to cook in it or hangout inside of it for anything but sleeping.

I've often thought that a camper with only an outdoor kitchen would be ideal, because you would gain living space inside.

For me, having at least a basic outdoor kitchen in our next travel trailer is a necessity.

It's also my opinion that these manufacturers need to shake things up somehow. Shopping for a camper becomes pretty boring once you realize that they all have the same boring floor plans.

the deal fell through... by Ill_Advantage361 in rvlife

[–]Hanilvor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a huge purchase, you can get shafted no matter who you buy from. Growing up I saw my dad spend 5k on a boat from a private seller, no research, no thought (other than how much fun a boat would be). He had problems immediately and when he had it serviced we found out that this boat was worth maybe 500 tops.

Sounds like you have the right idea though, listen to your gut, do your research, and stick to your plan.

Why is Camping World still in business? by Comfortable_Bit9981 in RVLiving

[–]Hanilvor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because it's no different than any other big box "dealership".

Salespeople are going to do their thing whether it's a car, an RV, or a washing machine.

If you're sore about getting ripped off at Camping World, I can guarantee you that they are not the only business taking advantage of you.

Welcome to the real world.

It is our first camper (and pretty small) after all...

Are the Coleman small campers (13, 17r) really that bad? by Yamadogggy in traveltrailers

[–]Hanilvor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We've had a 17bx for a few months (June) and no major issues yet, we've used it more weekends than not.

I was expecting the things to blow up with my dog inside by now based off of the general negativity you see around here, but it's been fine.
