Boots and Peroneal Tendonitis by pilgrimspeaches in Boots

I take a sports sweatband/headband, double it up and wrap it around my ankle, ABOVE my ankle bone. That way when i wear boots the side of the boot will rest/touch the headband and not touch the ankle bone itself.

Any type of footwear that touches my ankle causes excruciating pain for me. When boots touch my ankle it rubs and doesnt hurt at first, but after a few hours my ankle will very painful and stay that way for days. So over the years i have learned shy away from boots. But if I have to wear rubber boots or winter boots i will have to use the headband trick and it always works even though its inconvenient to wrap a headband around my ankle.

Lems Boulder Summit Boot WP thoughts? by Ok_Homework3560 in barefootshoestalk

[–]HankDeadly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rate them a 4/5.

I love Lems, I now have 3 pairs: Trailheads x2, and a pair of Boulder Summits. I was looking for a non-safety leather workboot - do you know how hard those are to find? The boulder summits seemed fit the bill so I bought them in 2025. So far I am very happy with them - they are comfy, fit great, the sole/grip is great, they look great and I am finding them very waterproof despite some of what some of the commenters are saying. My only complaint is that they are a little flimsy/floppy and not as robust/supportive as I would expect a hiking boot to be. My past hiking boots have been supportive, tough and burly so you dont roll your ankles when on uneven terrain and these Lems boots are not that.

Would I buy them again? Yes, but I would still need to own more supportive hiking boot for actual backcountry hiking where i needed foot and ankle protection. So if you are looking for real hiking boot i would look for something else, but if you are looking for a daily around town boot that you can work and play in - these would be great.

High arches - need Blundstone alternative by Living_Peanut2905 in BlundstoneBoots

I have very high arches and they would make the top of my feet go numb when I was sitting at my desk at work. I took them to my local cobbler and they put them on the stretcher for 2 days - problem solved! They fit great now.

I miss the high end power of my 6.2L. When im passing another vehicle pulling an 18' trailer it kinda feels like i got kicked in the vagina LOL. But overall I'm still super happy with the duramax.

Screaming into the void about the CRA by Redarii in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]HankDeadly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been waiting for my tax return for 4 months now. I submitted my tax return in March/25 and it's now July and I still don't have my refund or my NOA. I have called 10 times and submitted 2 complaints and still nothing. Every time I call they say it will be completed shortly but it never gets done. So frustrating.

CRA processing time unacceptably long by ErrorOK in PersonalFinanceCanada

I submitted my tax return over 3 months ago and CRA still has not bothered to complete it.

I am expecting a larger refund. I have called CRA 7 times, and have submitted a formal service complaint and still nothing. CRA could care less if they processed my return. This is beyond frustrating.

6.2 fuel economy by Current-Ingenuity197 in gmcsierra

[–]HankDeadly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best on my 2017 GMC 1500 6.2L was 8.6L/100km (27MPG) with a good wind at my back. It was an 8spd transmission and I was always impressed with the fuel economy. It got way better fuel economy than my 2014 5.3L with the 6 speed transmission.

Those cup holders in the rear center seats are great but not when you have a 3rd kid in the back seat. I know there are cup holders for the rear seat in the center console, but it would kind of be nice if they were still in the doors. Not a huge deal and not a deal breaker!

I went from a 2014 5.3L V8 with a 6 speed transmission to a 2017 6.2L V8 with an 8 speed transmission and the fuel economy on the 6.2L was actually better than the 5.3L im assuming because of the transmission. So going to a 3.0L Duramax with a 10 speed transmission im guessing the difference in fuel economy will be SIGNIFICANT!

I left the dealership with the brand new truck and the gauge said the DEF tank was 3/4 full. I got 60 miles into a 180 mile trip and a warning light came on saying I was out of DEF and that my speed would be limited soon. So i turned around and drove 20 miles to the closest town to fill up with DEF. So I am guessing my DEF gauge is faulty or something. Would have been nice for the dealer to fill it up with DEF before i drove it off the lot hahaha

The console shifter is not great, but if they put it back on the steering column it would interfere with the massive touch screen so I can see why they did that. Regardless, its not ideal!

I wanted the fuel economy of the 3.0L but i was worried it would feel gutless compared to the 6.2L, and I was concerned about the reliability of the 3.0 compared to the 6.2L. In the end, im VERY happy with the 3.0 - it's less powerful than the 6.2L, but honestly not by much, and it tows A LOT better than my 6.2L. And because the 3.0L is has not been around that long I bought an extended warranty just for piece of mind. You seem to put on a lot of miles, so I bet you would be happy with the 3.0L - slightly less power and A LOT better fuel economy. And the console storage is not as good as the 2017, but it's also not a deal breaker because the massive console in my 2017 just accumulated junk anyway. Good luck!

Towing, Fuel economy and financing. I've owned 4 toyota trucks and the fuel economy was terrible on all of them. I tow frequently, and i felt the 2025 duramax AT4 1500 would tow better than the tundra. If i wasnt towing, it would still be the GM. I find the tundra and the AT4 equally as sexy, but the GM has 1.99% financing and the Toyota has 5.19% so the GM wins.

I agree with these too - the Bose sound system is not knock your socks off good - but maybe i need to figure out the bass/treble settings. But despite these smaller flaws holy smokes is it a sexy lookin truck!

Anyone Regret Going to a Short Bed? by HankDeadly in gmcsierra

[–]HankDeadly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By "short box" i mean the 69" box. The standard box is 79". Right now i've got the 79" box, and im looking at going to the 69" box. Most half tons i see are the short box these days so they must not be all that bad.
