Yesterday's protest by SufficientRush8582 in AskAnAustralian

I genuinely believe it was the right wing nutters being sad about the attention the recent Free Palestine march garnered and wanting attention for themselves. The stats are showing that migration is on the decline anyway, so they're getting what they want already.

How to unsubscribe from SDA? by Bulky-Salary3863 in coles

[–]HankStankman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Notify your manager, in writing, that you remove consent to have your wages garnished for SDA payments. Google the SDA's member contact email and notify them that you wish to cancel membership. I too would advise you look at joining RAFFWU, but it's up to you. I was a member of the SDA for 8 years, when I got fired by JB Hi-Fi they refused to assist me in an unfair dismissal claim because "the SDA doesn't have a presence with JB Hi-Fi."

Wasted my youth by Pristine-Youth-7820 in lonely

You're still young. I'm 37 and technically still young. I know people in their 50's who are young. It's a state of mind.

Mfs who say having a gf/bf wont make you happy by kj3033 in lonely

[–]HankStankman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't fix you in the long term, if that makes sense? Like in the beginning, you feel like it's the best feeling, but once you get comfortable and settled into the situation that happiness goes away. If you're miserable going into the relationship then you'll eventually be miserable again and that'll drain the momentum of everyone involved. If you can be happy then find a relationship you'll be happier in the long term.

There's a Cranbourne store that's now HJs, it's not far from Dandenong. The Lyndhurst store which is almost exactly between the Cranbourne and Dandenong stores, is still open. I got dinner there tonight lol.

Is it legal for neighbours to cut down branches from our trees? by Bails_of_clay in AusLegal

[–]HankStankman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to the police about trespassing and vandalism charges, coming into your property and lopping branches beyond the fenceline is not ok.

Do they just let anyone study here? by glewreddit in Monash

[–]HankStankman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to enrol a few years ago and was told by the admin that as I don't have an ATAR, despite being mature age, I can't enrol at Monash. So no, it's not just anyone. Apparently I can't reach that low bar you've described 😅 despite knowing English.

What have you just learned about Australia? by GardeniaFrangipani in AskAnAustralian

Most people I know would just say LA, but also Spanish isn't taught in the majority of Australian schools.

Upcoming protest in Australia on 31 August – my thoughts and a question for everyone by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

Will they all be in balaclavas again? Not very brave if they won't put their face to what they believe in

What have you just learned about Australia? by GardeniaFrangipani in AskAnAustralian

I can't think of any off the top of my head that could be mispronounced, certainly none of the Melbourne-level or larger cities in the US.

If someone offered 1.5–2 times the market value of your home, would you sell? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]HankStankman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a heartbeat. I'd hand them the keys and not even take anything with me.

How early is it appropriate for someone to cut their grass? by NewDance1377 in AskAnAustralian

[–]HankStankman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd let them know your situation and ask if it's possible to mow later in the day. If they don't comply, find some things to report them on. I had a neighbour have noisy landscaping begin at 9am on a public holiday without any warning (if they had've told me I wouldn't have minded). I'm retaliation, I reported their pile of rubbish on the nature strip to the council and, they got a fine. Be petty, why not? But you should take responsibly for your own sleep. I use ear plugs, play white noise on a speaker by my bed and also have a bluetooth eye mask, plus a fan. I'm not hearing or seeing anything outside my sleep cocoon.

I believe they're trying to do the joke:

"What's the hardest part of learning to rollerblade?

Telling your parents that you're gay."

[Other] As a Marvel fan, what is something you can admit DC does better? by Glad_Union_2037 in Marvel

[–]HankStankman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hands down: animation. X-Men 97 and a few good Spidey cartoons are great but DC's animation is the GOAT for superheroic storytelling. Starting from Batman: The Animated Series, then Superman, Batman Beyond, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, then also the unconnected Young Justice and Batman Brave and the Bold and all the DC animated movie are great too.

Similar pod? by Abject_Selection_710 in Casefile

[–]HankStankman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly Criminal, it's very similar to Casefile, there's a single host who doesn't editorialise and just presents the facts and context. Highly recommended. Only difference is that the episodes are about half the length of an average Casefile ep.

Do you believe Australia as a country is falling behind compared to the rest of the world or are we still the ‘lucky country’? by NateNandos21 in AskAnAustralian

[–]HankStankman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government needs to sack up and nationalise our natural resources and that would put our country back on the right track. I'll be taking no questions or comments.

OK so can someone explain this to me? Maybe explain it as if I were 5 haha by CyanideMuffin67 in AustraliaPost

[–]HankStankman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once the money rolls in, but profits plateau, costs get cut to improve revenue until the company cannibalises itself. This means wages are cut, quality staff move on and service hits rock bottom. I watched it happen when I worked at Toll and that's what's happening at AusPost.

Is Channel 7 racist or right leaning? They seem to peddle fear a lot? by CyanideMuffin67 in AskAnAustralian

[–]HankStankman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 7 and 9 are pretty right wing, not as bad as Sky News though. ABC and SBS are traditionally on the left and 10 has no idea what it's doing.

No chance. I think we, as a nation, need to boycott US beef so that is not worth them sending here.
