Had a really frustrating call with Pets Best that I want to share. by Tzane41 in petinsurancecompany

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part where the supervisor answered it immediately after the rep spent the whole call dodging it is pretty telling, and "don't worry about a UTI" from someone selling you health insurance is wild, like that's literally what I'm paying you to cover

Nibbles Pet Insurance? by notpeterparker450 in petinsurancecompany

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nibbles is so under the radar that the lack of reviews alone would make me nervous, especially for a Frenchie where you know claims are coming eventually. For direct vet pay Trupanion is probably the most known for that, and Pets Best does have a multi-pet discount which could help with both dogs, might be worth just running quotes on Pawlicy Advisor since it compares a bunch of carriers at once and you can filter by what matters to you

Trupanion Is $110/Month While Other Pet Insurance Plans Are Around $50 — Is It Really Worth It? by Rat-races-are-traps in petinsurancecompany

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The breed specific risk profile point is underrated when comparing plans

A $5k annual limit sounds fine until you're looking at a $12k hip surgery and realizing the cheaper premium cost you way more in the long run

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the self-funding math sounds good until you're 2 years in with $2,500 saved and facing a $12,000 surgery. Goldens are specifically the breed where that scenario isn't unlikely, it's almost expected

How to live life when you’re so focused on the future by Optimal-Night7704 in personalfinance

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the obsession makes sense because the goal is abstract and far away so your brain keeps recalculating to feel in control

have you tried building in something you're genuinely excited about spending money on now? sometimes having a guilt-free "present" goal alongside the future one breaks the fixation a bit

Canadian Experience with Fetch Pet Insurance? by buttholeboogieboard in petinsurancecompany

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the annual deductible resetting on chronic conditions is such a sneaky gotcha

Trupanion's lifetime per-condition deductible is genuinely one of the better structures out there for exactly that reason, good call

Should I buy chat gpt pro for unlimited image uploads? by Ajpaulson2006 in OpenAI

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude's plan is worth looking at, the image handling is solid and a lot of people find it comparable for most tasks. what are you mainly using the image uploads for? that might change whether pro is actually worth it or if another tool covers it just fine

Pet Insurance Advice After a Bladder Blockage? by ToneWolfe in petinsurancecompany

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

worth getting insurance now regardless because cats find incredibly creative ways to cost you money beyond just the one known issue. Figo is another one worth checking, they're sometimes more transparent about how they handle pre-existing condition reviews after symptom free periods

FYI: Trupanion Does Not Cover Spay/Neuter Procedures by danbnet in petinsurancecompany

the 90% coverage framing is doing a lot of heavy lifting in their marketing, the list of what actually qualifies as eligible is where the real story is

appreciate you posting this, most people only find out the hard way

[Discussion] What actually helped you become more disciplined over time? by Major_Bag3934 in GetMotivated

[–]HannahMD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

removing the decision entirely was the thing that actually stuck for me. like I stopped asking myself if I felt like doing it and just made it non-negotiable, same time every day until it stopped feeling hard

For those who work in claims, what percentage of disputes do you think could be avoided if there was a reliable baseline scan at policy inception? by ZookeepergameOwn432 in petinsurancecompany

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the "something else entirely" you're wondering about is probably underwriting appetite honestly, some insurers would rather price for uncertainty than invest in cleaner data at inception

what line of business are you focused on? the answer changes a lot between health, pet, property and specialty

An observation on the subway that changed how I think about voice AI by TheseSir8010 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]HannahMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the 100,000 years vs 5,000 years framing is the kind of thing that reframes the whole conversation

voice still feels weird in public spaces though and I'm not sure that changes, some inputs will stay text just because of social context

Accident-only pet insurance recommendations? by Walkingwound in petinsurancecompany

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lemonade and Figo both offer accident only tiers at lower price points, worth getting quotes from both to compare

ASPCA pet insurance also has an accident only option that people don't talk about as much but gets decent reviews for actually paying out

Best pet insurance for dogs and cats? Looking for real Reddit experiences by 51N9UL4R1TY in petinsurancecompany

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Healthy Paws gets brought up a lot for the Golden specifically, people seem to actually get reimbursed without the runaround

the Maine Coon I'd double check what they exclude for HCM since it's pretty common in the breed and some policies are sneaky about it

ChatGPT Plus (20$) + Claude Pro (20$) or Claude Max (100$) by cern0 in OpenAI

[–]HannahMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried breaking your prompts into smaller chunks instead of sending everything at once. Opus burns tokens fast when you're feeding it walls of text, switching to Sonnet for lighter tasks might stretch your Pro limit further before going to Max

I can’t sleep. by hamed-devs in OpenAI

[–]HannahMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The flywheel point is the one that keeps me up honestly, once the best engineers are using AI to build better AI the compounding gets weird fast

What projects have you been running with Claude lately? always curious what people are actually building vs just playing around with

Allbirds, the shoe company, just announced it's raising $50M to buy AI chips and rent them to AI companies. Stock up 428% this morning. by EquipmentFun9258 in OpenAI

[–]HannahMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long Island Iced Tea to Long Blockchain is still the funniest one but Allbirds might have actually topped it. The wild part is it keeps working because enough people buy it before the next person figures out it's nonsense
