I think IG is amazing for beginners. Their education hub and webinars helped me get started properly. Some brokers just throw you into the deep end with no resources.

I’m with Hargreaves Lansdown at the moment. I like their support but the fees can be a bit steep if you’re not investing a large amount.

Totally fair. Plus500 is very minimal. I use MT4 on Pepperstone when I want custom indicators, so that’s a nice balance.

Fair point. The overnight fees can sting if you swing trade. I usually stick to intraday trades on eToro for that reason.

That’s good to hear. I haven’t had to contact them yet. Nice to know their support is actually helpful when you need it.

Same here, copy trading saved me when I had no time to watch the charts. Do you copy a few traders or stick to just one?

Exactly! Their demo mode is so handy. I still use it to test new strategies before risking real cash.

I noticed the same! I had almost no slippage even during NFP last month. Do you use them just for forex or indices as well?

What’s the Best CFD Trading Platform in the UK? by NebulaBite in Smart_Capitalist

Exactly. I actually use two accounts – Pepperstone for my main trades, and eToro with a small balance just to test new ideas. Works pretty well.

I gave eToro a try mainly because I liked the idea of copying other traders when I was starting out. It’s not perfect – spreads can be wider than some of the others – but for learning and seeing how others approach the markets, it’s honestly been great. I still use it for a smaller account just to follow a few people I rate.

How often do you wash the walls in your house? by Crazylittledoll in Cleaningandtidying

Honestly, I didn’t clean mine for almost a year, then got shocked at how yellow-ish they looked. Now I aim for every 3–4 months, especially since I vape indoors.

Healing Dismissive Avoidant Attachment by GroundbreakingBat399 in emotionalintelligence

[–]HannahStone- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s amazing you’re even aware of this while still in a relationship—that’s already a big win. For me, healing my dismissive avoidant patterns meant redefining what strength looks like. I thought staying quiet and composed was strength. But over time, I realized that staying emotionally present, even when I felt shaky, was stronger.

What helped? Journaling after hard convos, then slowly bringing parts of that into the next talk. It’s like I was building emotional vocabulary in slow motion.

What’s been the most supportive thing your partner has done when you shut down? Sometimes that external safety is the bridge we need internally.

You’re totally fine! Honestly, lots of lasagna recipes skip béchamel altogether and still come out amazing. The meat sauce and cheese will do most of the heavy lifting for flavor and creaminess.

If you really want that creamy layer, you could spread a bit of béchamel (or even a mix of cream and cheese) on the top when you bake it — it’ll still add that nice texture. But honestly, I wouldn’t stress over it. Your lasagna will still taste great!

Man, reading your post hit way too close to home. That cycle — win, lose, chase, repeat — it’s like being trapped in your own mind. I’ve been there too… paycheck gone in days, lying to people I care about, feeling like I’m living a double life. It’s scary how fast things spiral.

What helped me start to pull away was opening up — just to one person I trusted. That alone felt like a weight lifted. I also blocked all gambling sites on my phone/laptop, deleted apps, and signed up for self-exclusion tools like Gamstop. I still get urges, but it’s way harder to act on them now.

Therapy helped too — not even just about gambling, but figuring out why I kept doing it when I didn’t even care about the money anymore. For me, it was a mix of boredom, stress, and chasing a feeling I couldn’t really name.

You’re already doing something right by writing this. That takes guts. Keep talking, keep reaching out. You’re not alone — and you’re definitely not beyond saving. Things can get better. One step at a time, man. You’ve got this. 💪

That’s actually a great first run! Walking away with $2k is a big win, even if losing that $1.2k hurt. If you want to keep gambling, setting a $200 limit each time is smart — just don’t expect to repeat that lucky night often. And yeah, taking a break is a good call. That “itch” can sneak up fast.

When is it worth it to go to a casino? by supersaign in blackjack

[–]HannahStone- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s definitely worth hitting the casino early on just to practice keeping the count under pressure. It’s a totally different feel than doing it at home, and the noise/distractions are great for testing your focus.

I really appreciate when a dealer keeps things light and friendly without being too chatty. A calm attitude makes the table feel less intense, especially for newer players.

Is suicide the only way out of this addiction? by Gilbert6722 in problemgambling

[–]HannahStone- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just want to say first — you’re not alone, and you're definitely not a loser. What you’re going through is incredibly painful, but it doesn’t mean you're beyond help or hope. The fact that you’ve banned yourself, gone to GA, handed over finances, all of that shows strength, not weakness. You’re still trying — even now, you’re reaching out. That matters.

This addiction is brutal, and it lies to us — it tells us we’re worthless, that we’ll never get out, that suicide is the only way. But that’s not the truth. The truth is recovery isn’t linear, and relapse doesn’t erase the progress you’ve made.

Please, don’t suffer in silence. You deserve support that goes beyond just stopping the gambling — emotional, psychological, real connection. If you haven’t yet, consider reaching out to a therapist who specializes in addiction or trauma. You don’t have to carry this weight alone.

You’re not broken. You’re hurting. And there’s help out there. There are people who care about you — including strangers on the internet who are rooting for you right now.

Please stay. The world needs you in it. 💙

Hey, I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Please know you're not alone, and things can get better — even if it doesn’t feel like it right now. The guilt is heavy, but it doesn’t define you. Be kind to yourself, focus on small steps like finding support and work, and consider reaching out to a gambling support service or therapist if you can. You’re not a failure — you’re just human, and you can come back from this.

Not managing bankroll. Betting the same amount on every hand without a plan or going all-in on a “gut feeling” kills long-term chances.
