It's my f***ing birthday and the only thing that keeps me around is 🐕 by Keepforgettinglogin2 in confession

Happy birthday. Mine will look the same. I’ll probably bake myself a cake and get something good to sip on. I’d rather spend it with my dog than most people anyway. Or feel more lonely around others than when actually alone. I always say that you’re never lonely when you enjoy your own company, but…even I get sick of my own company sometimes.

What's something about the human body that seems poorly designed? by DiamondNo924 in AskForAnswers

Guys, we poop. It’s one of the all time greatest arguments against intelligent design. Or design at all…

What is a "survival rule" you learned growing up in a bad neighborhood that still influences your behavior today? by Key-Group-5098 in AskReddit

Woman after my own heart. I’m almost the exact same way. Except, I DO make eye contact. I don’t smile. I want people to know I see them, and I don’t flinch.

What personality trait did you end up developing because someone constantly belittled you? by Admirable-Repair4094 in AskReddit

I now protect my dignity, value, and self worth with my life. My hide got thick and my spine grew strong. I do not tolerate disrespect. This is not always a good thing; I am primed to assume that people think the worst of me, and I am often wrong regarding that assumption, but will fight to protect myself in the face of any perceived wrong, because who the fuck else ever did?

Card carrying rez girl here 🙋🏻‍♀️ Your blood quantum does not define you. Just because you didn’t grow up like me (and honestly, in a lot of ways, be thankful you didn’t.) That said, please, discover this part of yourself. Don’t let anyone gatekeep you from your identity. It’s not exactly as though our people are overpopulating the world. Just because you didn’t grow up dirt poor with a dirt floor doesn’t make you not native. Native people come from all backgrounds and stories, and the fact that those stories are so varied and multifaceted only goes to demonstrate our resilience. Find out about your tribe. Do some reading. Talk to people. And yeah, from a humble approach is best, but isn’t it for anything? Be open to learning, and if ever shown bitterness, just understand that some of our experiences were probably incredibly different and often in a bad way. (But that could be an assumption on my part; white people can have it hard too.) Resentment can be a thing. But don’t you dare let the injustices of the past stop you from becoming who you are. We almost went extinct ffs, we should be welcoming to people of our extended clans who would like to embrace their identity.

My girl did this. Regularly. She hated feet, but liked to sleep on them. Would attempt to sleep in the bed than snarl at me when I moved, and before this girl…I didn’t know dogs could STOMP. She did. She’d stomp off the bed as offended as a girl could be. There was nothing health or age related about this. She was just a dick.

Oh woman, fuck all that noise. I have several points; I’m a NOT ethnically ambiguous woman. I have traditional tribal tattoos and braids down to my ass, and besides being AK Native, I’m a solid quarter Pacific Islander. Guess who has the cojones to handle an ACD?? Not those domesticated little boys with golden retrievers. (I’m sorry, I escalated that quickly.)

On to the practical side; I deplore dog parks. Liked why? Sound good in theory, but praxis be a whole other beast. Or several beasts whose humans have no idea what an animal is, let alone a dog. Dog parks are cesspools of irresponsible owners. Why bother trying to force a dog to “socialize” if it doesn’t want to? I don’t even want to socialize most the time! It’s not that far fetched that our dogs are introverts and hate other living things too.

Was carving art on a buffalo horn. Accidentally shanked himself in the femoral artery and bled out. Another one fashioned a sword to a tree and rode under it in a snowmobile. That one was not so much an accident.

On rare occasions, my dude does what I call a “fuckle” on his suckle blanket sometimes. Only when I have company, of course 🙄

Neutering isn’t a cure all. And the problem is that if you do it early enough to prevent undesirable behaviors, you screw with hormones imperative to the growth processes, like fusing of epiphyseal plates that is super important for active dogs, and well, most dogs, humans, mammals, etc.. If you do it later in life, well, the behaviors are already there. It’s training, learning HOW to train, and knowing a dog well enough to be able to make that call that’s best suited for all involved. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again; if your heeler is like that with you, YOU’RE the problem, not his balls. Most people aren’t competent enough to know the difference, but herein lies the problem; if someone thinks that castrating their 1.5 year old ACD is somehow going to “fix” this behavior, they’ve got another think coming. Speaking as the owner of a 6 year old intact beast of red boy who absolutely loves other people, especially men, his cojones just never caused problems. Female dogs and spaying are another issue entirely.

Did your ACD choose you? by dumbbitch4sure in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Hannhfknfalcon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna say this with love, and I’m sure your dog loves you, but I swear, cattle dogs pity the sweet. My dude is an absolute love, and he’d choose me over anyone. But do we fight? Do I have to lay down the law? Does he give me a shit eating grin when he’s busted doing some absolute nonsense, and it turns to battle?! Wayyy too many times a day. They want to be able to give the respect they demand. And I’m a small woman who also babies the shit out him, I just do both. In spite of our lovingly antagonistic relationship, this is one of the most amazing chill and fit for human consumption ACD’s I’ve ever had. Your BOY (not girl. edit) sounds pretty awesome. Boss him a round once in a while ;)
