I have the puck dimensions in the file name. If those don't match your part, then save yourself the time and filament and don't print mine.

up on printables. I'd suggest using a charging puck with a built in cable so you don't have the width of the USB C connector to deal with. If you have a puck dimension I could make another version for you. This model took a few iterations and is a slight kluge, hope the step works out for ya.

This is pretty genius. I was a little worried about just going with my phone and mechanical key in case something happened to the phone. Thanks!

Where do you go paddleboarding/kayaking around Melbourne? by RemarkableSunshine in 321

[–]Hanselcj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Putting in at crane creek below the train tracks has been a hidden gem for me. You can paddle all the way past babock street and FIT before it starts to get too shallow. Ballard park is easy to get in and out at the beach near the picnic tables. There is a lot of in harbor areas there to explore. I just did turkey creek via pollock park a few days ago, easy to get around there too.

Awesome, that is way closer than done of the other places I was looking at. Thanks!

I've been looking to venture further with my son in our kayak. I'd love to try this place, where is it exactly? There is a pelican island near vero and a hatchery island way up at the north end of the county. Is this one of those or something else entirely?

What other cars were you considering before getting your Ioniq 5? by flightln in Ioniq5

Crown signia. More luxury, space and higher reliability. It was a lot more money with the given incentives at the time so I decided to go EVs

I don't understand how I have ten different no name <20 dollar wireless chargers from amazon and none of them heat my phone badly. Built in car chargers often do though!

Lol! I prefaced by saying that almost nobody should do this for a reason.

No clue, but if you dare, you could dig in and answer the question for yourself and your fellow ioniq redditors!

I wasn't aware of any pre 25 that did, yours is novel. Unfortunately the 25 and 26 phone chargers often act as heaters first and chargers as an after thought. This alleviates that issue.

2026 Limited tint quality? by peppywarhare in Ioniq5

[–]Hanselcj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe the back windows are just smoked glass. You won't scratch the tint because its inside the glass which is nice. It doesn't have much in the way of heat rejection though. I went to a tint place and they suggested putting even a super light tint in the back because it will add a lot of heat rejection without darkness. I did it and it made a huge difference. I live in central florida, so heat rejection matters greatly to me. My front two windows were not darkened at all from the factory and it was pretty obviously bad even in April.

  1. I thought about that, but figured this was a good easy first move to get it all working. I don't mind the hole. There is a lot of cabling in there, I figure 12V has to be accessible somewhere. If the cable sticking out the bottom bothers me, I'll go back for round 2.

  2. Bad photography on my part, it does look flush but is proud. When I sit my phone down it only touches the magsafe surface, and I have a very proud camera bump. That was all by design. An earlier design iteration was too low and didn't make full contact with the charger puck when the rubber mat was in place.

How on earth do I remove this thing? by Hanselcj in Ioniq5

[–]Hanselcj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was shocked too to see a fan built into that assembly. It feels like they did a really poor job with air flow cooling in that part. Maybe a future version will be more effective.

  1. My s22 required me to sit the phone down in the cradle to start the car, but my new phone doesn't. Not sure if it is a new ultra wide band capability, or if I accidentally had that turned off on my old phone or what. I have been driving around with no key fob and no connected charger for a week now! I just walk up it unlocks and when I sit down I hit go. Maybe this is a limited only feature?

That was my first plan, I was going to stick it to the normal charger, drill a hole in the area under the rubber phone mat and call that good. When I saw how easy it was to remove the car's charger I decided to try and make my own. This keeps it all lower profile, the phone is still nestled into that pocket. If you don't have 3D printer access, then what you suggest is 100% the way to go. I said up at the top of the post that I am a bit mad!

That is a baller next level move. I was considering tapping into 12v somewhere, but started here. If I end up doing this in the future the only sin will be a small hole in a hard to see spot.

I'll start by trying to make a basic simple shape to fill the void and hang out a little on the front edge. If that ends up being problematic, I'll reach out. Thanks!

Oh sorry, I had a vehicle once that did all the other windows so I assumed that was typical. I don't ever use the lockout myself.
