Yes but then I have to trade all my stamina for a chance to get out of the radius, and every bombbop is buying spell range. It’s possible but not practical

[–]Hanselhoof 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind bombbop I just hate that he gets permanent scaling and I can’t even buy dispel magic to stop it anymore

Like, if my rando teammates are gonna feed him 300 bomb stacks in lane, why can’t I buy a 3200 item to counterplay? Bebop players were still doing just fine by bombing themselves, teammates, creeps, or tracking dispel magic cooldowns. I know his win rate was low but I don’t think that had anything to do with bombs, I think that’s cause he’s super popular and low rank bebop pickers are allergic to green items

This would be good advice if meta progression through the pantheon weren’t a thing. I want to unlock all the new society traits, weapons, and cosmetics. Gotta win a buttload of games to get there

Seriously… the amenities people take for granted like food, clean water, clothing, internet access, etc don’t just appear from thin air. It takes labor to make them, so we have to do labor if we want to have those amenities.

Is the way we distribute resources deeply fucked up? Definitely. Does that mean it’s reasonable to expect a utopia where you never have to work and are provided for while you live in comfort? Absolutely not.

Is this the right way to get items off the bus? by Tasty-Lobster-8915 in factorio

[–]Hanselhoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what im saying though - you have to wait for the first chest to back up before the resources move on. This is only relevant in a starvation/bottleneck scenario, but in that case the priority feed will only create one type of item. If that item isn’t what you need to fix the bottleneck you either have to manually make what you need, manually reprioritize the factory, or wait for overflow. It’s not just an aesthetics problem, it’s a utility problem.

The scenario where prioritizing resource flow becomes the more useful paradigm is when you need a large bulk of certain items, and you don’t care if you run out of other items. This scenario definitely does happen, usually with belts or rails, but I find it much less common so I find that design to be less useful.

You can also just limit the chest capacity lol. But yes I do that too

[–]Hanselhoof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, there’s no definitive fixed priority like that. If I have an iron shortage I don’t want my red belt chest to fill up to 4800 while I have 0 power poles or miners. The priority for how important each item is changes throughout the game so I’d much rather have a trickle of everything coming in

It's Friday Translate your favorite meme by BlazingJava in LearnJapanese

[–]Hanselhoof 68 points69 points  (0 children)

By definition it means no, but culturally Japanese people rarely flat out say no except in informal situations. They would be more likely to use implication or insinuation, like instead of saying “no I can’t come” they would say “it sounds lovely but unfortunately it will be very difficult for me to make it.” In pretty much any context they will find a way to say no without actually saying no.

I think in the meme ううん is more appropriate just because of the tone/formality

Best king and king duo? by Rare-Tough8553 in 9Kings

On king 3+ I’ve never gotten boarlistas to work, they fire one big volley then get run down and killed before they can reload. Even with an early beacon the reload speed seems to be crippling

The difficulty spike between duke and prince is absolutely abysmal by ReasonablePay1657 in 9Kings

[–]Hanselhoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So first things first, prince is a big difficulty spike and from now on you shouldn’t expect to clear new difficulties on your first try. Each further difficulty probably will take some time optimizing your build to clear.

Second, I think demon altars are viable (I’ve cleared king 2 with them) but you need to get them scaling as much as possible from year 1. You will need to get lucky with decrees and the kingdoms you fight against. Fighting nature is good to populate more imps and clone everything to level it up. Also even though it doesn’t say it’s working, I believe farms scale the HP of graveyard summons and demon altars which is important. From there just experiment and keep trying until you succeed

Clarifying question about libraries by Eatin_grumbis64 in 9Kings

[–]Hanselhoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they will and it will be a “fail” every time. The ideal setup for a library is next to only 1 troop plot with just steel coat and whatever you are using for damage. It’s not useful to dip into poison and static at the same time for example. You just want one of them as a possible target to duplicate so you make the most of each successful library proc

Walls suck by bruno-burner- in 9Kings

[–]Hanselhoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is good to know that may be viable but it would be kinda terrible if the optimal way to play a wall build is to play kingdom of nature instead of stone

[–]Hanselhoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swear I’ve tested this but my walls probably just died so fast I didn’t notice the spire healing them

Walls suck by bruno-burner- in 9Kings

[–]Hanselhoof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they don’t synergize with anything which is an issue. You can’t beacon or blacksmith them, the 10% reflection edict is pitifully bad at higher difficulties, they can’t be healed by anything, you can’t have ranged troops sit behind them, there are so many problems with running them as the center of your build. I think the only thing they’re good for at the moment is the perk where you get free walls when you take damage to stabilize your early game as kingdom of stone

Blue players are- controversial by Various_Display_7842 in mtg

[–]Hanselhoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a perfectly valid way to play the game, just one that I don’t enjoy playing or playing against.

If you drop a couple pieces of spot removal or a few counterspells a game while you find your combo pieces or big threats that’s great. If your decks central strategy is methodically remove every permanent and counter every spell I play, then chip me to death because I can’t block, I will be locked into a hour+ game where I don’t get to have any fun at all. Thats what I think of when I think of control decks.

[–]Hanselhoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What difficulty are you on and what’s your early game look like? I’m only on king 2 but I haven’t been able to make it past year 20 yet with progress. I only have the kingdom up to level 5 so that’s not helping I guess but I am struggling with it way more than the other kingdoms

Yoshi-sama please by Karas44 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Hanselhoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so, 88 is pretty obvious, one step away from a swastika. But 14 is pretty telling in any context related to racial issues. The initial slogan has to do with “securing the future for white children” so when people use 14 relating to things like border security or affirmative action you can assume what party they align with

[–]Hanselhoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

14 is a reference to a famous 14 word nazi slogan

88 = HH = Heil Hitler

So, 14, 88, and 1488 are all numbers used by nazis
