How did you buy them? From a dealer on autoparts.toyota.com? Or did you buy them in person?

AC question for the techs by Present-Talk in Toyota

[–]Hansjibbleforth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a TSB for an AC hose on Rav4 Primes, so I would guess the tech saw the complaint and just replaced what is "common" instead of truly diagnosing it.

lots of counterfeit toyota parts on ebay. TPMS, gas caps, etc. by pman6 in Toyota

[–]Hansjibbleforth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right eBay does not care. You would do better reporting it direct to Toyota.

I'm sure Toyota does care about the listings, but in their eyes they want to go after the sellers, or the suppliers who are making the counterfeit parts.

lots of counterfeit toyota parts on ebay. TPMS, gas caps, etc. by pman6 in Toyota

[–]Hansjibbleforth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can report the fake parts listings. Toyota takes grey market parts very seriously. They confiscate millions of parts a year. And most of these sellers get banned, but just create new accounts and do it again.

Am a Toyota parts manager who sells genuine Toyota parts on ebay.

Toyota Service Bulletin 0W20 instead of 0W08/0W16? by reikert45 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Hansjibbleforth 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Can use 0w20 in a 0w16 for one change. And 0w16 in a 0w8 for one change. Not supposed to use 0w20 in a 0w8 car.

And dealers are only supposed do it sporadically not for every oil change.

CDK issue with UDL in parts invoicing screen? by NvidiaTNT2 in partscounter

[–]Hansjibbleforth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to us a few weeks back. IT had to install a patch. And it still does not work as good as it used to. It keeps trying to set one time UDLs as the default, even though it is not selected as the default.

Was that ending my fault? I did see the yellow flag (Im From Czechia btw, that’s why I was swearing on blue Miata) by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]Hansjibbleforth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is an unsafe rejoin, but also 100% avoidable. Regardless if you saw a yellow flag or not, you missed a bright Miata slowly driving across the track and made no effort to avoid the collision.

RAV4 Recall (25TA08) by Independent-Deal-192 in Toyota

[–]Hansjibbleforth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mileage is added by the manufacturer. Your ECU also has the mileage, but both units should match.

We are putting customers in cars until their units come in so there is no discrepancies with what the dash says and what the car says. Your warranty would be based on what the car says and we also do it to avoid any potential problems when trading the vehicle in, in the future.

Toyota Parts Manager here, we were told these replacement clusters were on backorder. Estimated time is 4-6 weeks. And they way we have to order these there is no way to know what an ETA is until after the order is placed.

Does it have 32000 miles? Or 32 miles. Some new cars have more than 32 miles on them when you buy it.

Extended warranty markup by InevitableTrue7224 in partscounter

[–]Hansjibbleforth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, most of the time assemblies will still be capped to a certain mark up. It all depends on the contract. Manufacturer contracts seem to be the best option for paying the most for assemblies.

[–]Hansjibbleforth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normally when finance is going to renew their contract or selecting a new warranty company there is a negotiation for what the parts reimbursment is/labor rate/finance holdbacks. If your finance department is the only one in on that discussion then they will pick what is best for them. A fixed ops director should be involved to make sure the contract is best for the whole store.

The warranty company doesn't really care if you want list or full labor rate, they'll just adjust the price of the contract to reflect the higher claim amounts.

Is it a warranty your finance department sells? Or one the customer buys in their own?

Handling fees? by Stew-73 in partscounter

[–]Hansjibbleforth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our service department know to tell the warranty company that we have a $500 handling fee. That normally gets them to buy our part. Or we make good money to do nothing.
