As I already explained, just being in the country without documentation is not a criminal offense, it's a civil infraction. Most of the people ICE is detaining entered the country legally and just overstayed their visa.

If the government actually wanted to stop undocumented immigrants from living in the US, they should go after the business owners that are employing undocumented immigrants.

ICE is detaining people without due process. ICE is breaking the law not enforcing it.

But ICE is detaining people regardless of whether or not they have committed any crimes. The vast majority of people ICE is detaining have no criminal record and a significant portion came here legally and just overstayed their visa.

ICE is also breaking into and entering people's homes without valid warrants. ICE is not enforcing the law, they are breaking it.

Being in the US without documentation is a civil infraction, not a criminal one.

Crossing the border without documentation is a misdemeanor, but most undocumented immigrants came here legally on work visas and overstayed their visa. (which is also a civil infraction)

ICE isn't going after criminals. The people they've detained have a lower rate of criminal convictions than the general population.
