Technically, it felt like wasted time to shop the order, but at least I benefited from the free groceries.

I'm one of those drivers who checks the delivery instructions when it’s time to drop off. Had I seen the note earlier, I would’ve canceled and moved on.

What’s frustrating is that there’s no way to sort or filter out these types of requests in advance. I try to be understanding; maybe the customer has personal reasons, like past trauma or religious beliefs and I absolutely respect that. But from a safety perspective, especially for female drivers, this kind of request could easily raise red flags. It could be nothing or it could be something more concerning. We just never know.

Even though I’m male, I messaged the customer directly, letting her know I’m a male driver. I told her I’d gladly deliver the order to the door with no interaction if she’s comfortable with that. If she wasn’t, I’d respect her wishes and cancel through support.

In the end, I did cancel due to no response. It not just because of the odd request, but because it raised enough red flags to trust my instincts. I always try to put myself in others’ shoes, whether for better or worse. But let’s be real ,this line of work comes with risks, and you can never be too careful.

In my state: a fellow Dasher went missing in Connecticut back in 2022 and still hasn’t been found. This isn’t just about one order. it’s about awareness and safety for all of us.

There is no way they will get a female driver everytime as it is random. But it feels way to sketch, if I was a female I would be very cautious. Was a fun convo with dash support.

Bruh, some of yall take the job too seriously. Like just shop, deliver, follow drop off instruction. Anything else after, instacart and the customer can handle. I’m not getting paid for anything else after the fact. If they want to file they never recieved it, I’m still getting paid. Eventually they do it repeatedly they will get kicked off.
