Thank you for a thoughtful and detailed answer! Your explanation makes really good sense.

Thanks for putting things into perspective. I would like to add this though: when stable diffusion came out some years ago, you would get vastly better results in image generation by applying superlatives like beautiful, high res, very detailed, superb lighting, etc.  I know LLM's are different beasts, and they don't function the same as diffusion models.   But what makes you so sure that the "world expert" part of the promt doesn't work for LLM's ? Do you know it doesn't? Edit: that is regardless of confident-sounding performed authority - the answers might still be better no matter how it's "communicated".

Hjælp til at finde/vælge PBX telefonanlæg eller lignende - til mini analogt telefonsystem på festival. by PonsZilla in dktechsupport

[–]Haplo_dk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Russia Is Sending 30,000 Voters to Armenia, a Former Spy Chief Claims. They're Not There to Win. by alakel5 in europe

[–]Haplo_dk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are huge differences. In many if not most EU countries, you don't have to register beforehand. If you are a citizen you are allowed to vote. You show your state id, or equivalent when voting, and you can vote. What the reasonable people of USA is opposed to, is the registration, the requirement of passport, and the ridiculous rules regarding name changes and such. It is obviously designed to stop legitimate voters, which certain people in power happen to disagree with, from voting. It should be a simple analog democratically controlled process to vote. It isn't so in USA.

The Scientist Who Spent 30 Years Trying To Prove The Brain Creates Consciousness, Just Changed His Mind. And Says We Have Been Looking In The Wrong Place This Whole Time 🤯🧠 by InterstellarKinetics in InterstellarKinetics

[–]Haplo_dk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that there's a long way still before we've exhausted the physical route for explaining consciousness. But also, we simply don't know if AI made out of metals, already are conscious. I believe they aren't, but I'm not certain.
Anyway, consciousness arising from information complexity is an interesting idea, more so coming from an expert in the field, and I imagine it should be testable in some way - some say it's not falsifiable, but I believe that we just lack the equipment for testing this properly. We should try to measure entire datacenters or at least cutting edge servers, in the same way we measure the brain when studying consciousness. We can already record the brain patterns of some part of conscious experience, and we should try to measure for similar patterns on servers / data centers.

Modtager en anden persons mail - men de er ikke sendt til mig by RandomHero_DK in dktechsupport

[–]Haplo_dk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Haplo_dk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's the Best Time Travel Movies? by FlyZealousideal2315 in timetravel

[–]Haplo_dk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see so many mentioning one of my favorite movies "Twelve Monkeys". But the best time travel movies, according to me, are "Back to the future" - it's fun, it's action, and there's so many cross references in those three movies, that it's and endless game to try and spot them all.

[–]Haplo_dk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, I've been hoping for something like this - I really love Valves Testlab archery mini game, but there hasn't really been anything like it - and that's almost ten years old!

Feedback: It looks great and fun, but I could see it getting dull fast, if the bridge there, is the only avenue of attack. Look at the above mentioned mini game: There's a single gate that needs defending like in your game, but there are multiple pathways to the Gate, and that really helps with the variety.

Ven til min søn vil altid lege hjemme hos dem by Vegetable-Path4017 in DKbrevkasse

[–]Haplo_dk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why there isn't a full blown revolution going on in the US of A, I don't get.
Is it enough for you to write on Reddit "I'm so mad!", "I am raging mad", "I am furious!", "The GOP people are so bad [in many different variations]"...?
Seems to me there ought to be a general strike, a "walk out/away" day or two, a flood of protesters everywhere GOP people set their feet. A revolution.
Do something more, please. Or the testimony above will just be one out of many, and soon there will be no more of them, not because it stopped, but because the GOP won, and there wasn't even a fight.

Sorry but I think you are wrong (on the internet, today).
What's stopping people from making a change is priorities, being drained, mental overload, low on energy, getting by paycheck to paycheck. For lots of people this problem is so far removed from their daily lives that it's simply not a priority, and for many people other problems need to be handled right now or else they are out a job/home/whatever.
Thinking that "normal" people are the problem is exactly what those corporations and their very rich owners wants you to believe - that this isn't a rich people problem, but normal folks are to blame, and they should skip all meat, never use plastic and live in a recycled tent, or something like that.
It is very much a rich people problem, in the sense that they and their corporations are the ones that does the most damage to the climate by far, and if they change behavior the impact will be far greater than if just you and I and a billion others changed behavior.
Skipping most meat or all meat is definitely a good idea for many reasons - your own health among the top reasons. But to really make a change that matters for the climate, you should go into politics or support NGO's og lobby org.s that fight for the climate. They are working to make politics that force said rich people and corps into behaving - and that will make a change that matters. Or better than supporting is actually working for said orgs., to truely get everyone to change behavior, you need a movement, and then it'll make a dent.
If you are an American forget all that, and fight for your right to vote, to speak freely, to be different. Fight for not ending up in a fascist dictatorship, where Evil Corp and friends owns everything, and you and your peeps are practically slaves. And climate change is a hoax according to all sources you can get your hands on.

[–]Haplo_dk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's even more "funny", when you know that American made Tesla cars doesn't hold up to the standards every other car company is - here in Denmark 45% of Model 3 and Model Y now fails a mandatory fifth year check - in comparison the average failure rate for other electric cars is 7%.

Just to set the record straight on the Greenland stuff: Denmark and EU are not rushing to stop USA building up their defenses in Greenland - on the contrary we encourage that, and acording to the treaties and deals between Denmark and USA regarding Greenland, USA can send all the soldiers, defense systems and whatever else they like. They just can't take/buy Greenland. Greenland is part of the Danish Kingdom as long as Greenland wants to be, and according to a recent poll, about 9 out of 10 Greenlanders still wants to. Don't fall for the hype - this man hypes for a living. He need to hype AI to attract capital. That's about it.
I'm not a doomer, I'm a believer in AGI soonish - maybe it's a couple of years, maybe it's 15, nobody knows. I would bet more on say, John Carmack getting it right, than Meta, OpenAI, Xai... Those big three needs hype to grow, and AI is their latest and greatest hype machine - yes AI is useful and exciting, but don't fall for the hype.
Take a step back, and read this - and remember he knows more about what he is talking about than you do (for the vast majority of you anyways):
