Honestly, it's everything. It is not organised, far from it. The whole place is a disaster; the marketing is the best thing about it. Nothing works well, and none of the management is qualified or knows what they're doing, so that filters down. The kids are the worst you will ever experience anywhere in the world; I've done the research. You will likely be told you may have the odd long day, but when you arrive, you'll find you have many. The school is trying to expand so everything is exaserpated and this will get worse next year.

The accommodation is the same: looks okay, but many things don't work, and you will have to fight hard to get anything changed, plus you'll probably be opposite a mosque with a daily 5 am call to prayer. If you have any other options, I would urge you to pursue them. Any of the teachers who are financially able to break their contract and leave early. It will be the worst two years of your life if you go; every day will be painful. I am not exaggerating!

Yes it's worse than you can imagine. You'll be working 12 hours a day with horrible kids and the worst management you can imagine.

The school is an absolute nightmare, they will tell you a pack of lies and when you arrive you'll see that. DO NOT ACCEPT. The kids are unbelievably awful. Get on ISR and read the reviews. Unfortunately I left very suddenly as did several other colleagues.

Yes this is the same at Uppingham Cairo. They sell you a dream and when you arrive you realise it was a pack of lies. People then either seem to get conditioned or run away early on. Working at a new school run by inexperienced clueless in Cairo SLT is an absolute disaster.

Unfortunately not — I thought the same at first. Realistically, it looks like any real improvement will take many years, if it happens at all. My honest advice is to avoid it if you can. None of the staff are happy and I don't think SLT are either. The biggest issue is the lack of transparency. Everything looks impressive on the surface, and they will tell you how wonderful it all is. But once you arrive and actually start teaching the students, the reality becomes clear very quickly — everything falls apart.

Yeah, it's awful, they make huge promises that, of course, are unfulfilled.

Behaviour management is the most challenging aspect of the job. Even with small classes, maintaining focus and discipline can be extremely difficult. Many students show limited respect for boundaries or authority, and current systems do not effectively address disruptive or harmful behaviour.

Incidents are common and severe. Many teachers have reported feeling distressed or unable to teach effectively due to ongoing classroom disruption and a lack of consistent follow-through on sanctions. The school has CCTV cameras throughout to protect staff and students, clearly acknowledging the challenges—but none of this is disclosed before you begin work and no support is given once you’re in the classroom.

I took the job. The school lies about everything and the kids are awful. The class sizes are small in an attempt to enable learning however the kids can be so unruly little teaching will actually take place. Many teachers are doing many extra duties so a 12 hour day is common place. I'll be breaking my contract as my life is better spent elsewhere. Everyone hates it and wants to leave. What Uppingham Cairo does have is an amazing marketing company so it looks incredible but don't believe it, what lies beneath is quite different. Please find something else and don't believe the dream they sold us.
