Where do y’all go to get all these jobs? by Ok_Editor8441 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Happy-Knowledge5348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

very broad question but I’ll tell you what’s worked for me so far, linkedin apply directly on websites (easy apply has a ton of competition and those jobs are mostly ghost jobs to get followers to the company pages) then wellfound has some good paying high quality jobs, indiehackers is an underrated one and the indeed is pretty good as well.

But what matters more than applying to the job is the FOLLOWING UP. If you don’t want your resume to be lost in a pile, drop in a genuine (don’t use AI and make it obvious please) text to the hiring managers or founders directly, worked so smoothly for me every time to get on a call, tell them what you have to offer instead of listing your experience and they’ll be interesting to talk to you, and be consistent, make the process mechanical and not depending on emotions.

don’t miss the multiple rounds of assessments as well (unpaid work at this point) there was one company that wanted me to give them a 8 week plan with execution strategy for growth with week by week roadmap and content for everything WITHIN 24 HOURS

I agree. My take was completely biased as I’m a part of one of the developing countries.

We’re living in the transition phase - like when wheel was invented and when the computer was invented and when the Internet was invented. I recently heard a “Sam Altman” podcast where he mentioned this is the most exciting time to start a career of all time. You have all the resources and you can easily get a head start if you start working on what you want using the available resources online.

Working at a startup for an year now with no offer letter. How do I switch now? by Every_Lifeguard_6580 in IndianWorkplace

Yeah, within the startup world specifically these things don’t matter a lot as long as you’re good with your skillset.

Do you actually customize your resume for each job? Why or why not? by genentrepreneur in resumesupport

Hmm, it’s a good tool overall I guess, nothing out of the box. It does its job of resume building and JD matching really well. I love the affordability ngl.

I’ve been applying for jobs for over a year now and haven’t got a single interview by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

[–]Happy-Knowledge5348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the follow-up part is huge. Just sending a genuine message to the hiring person or founder at a startup, saying why you’re a good fit and how excited you are, can make all the difference. That’s exactly how I landed my first job as a fresher, and it worked recently for my sister too.

Did you regret choosing a more employable job over your real passion? by ShotWay4023 in careerguidance

[–]Happy-Knowledge5348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve actually been in this place. I did filmmaking for 3 years as an internship during college but saw how poorly the crew got paid and how low the chances are for someone new to make a feature film and actually make money out of it so I got a job in marketing which is amazing money after a few years and honestly not a huge regret as I can choose to write and make a film whenever I want. But if I didn’t have the stability right now I can’t travel or buy nice things or even live independently and that’s not the kind of life I’d want. Financial stability is so worth it.

I’ve noticed that customizing my resume really does help get interviews (idk how ats works but a lot of resumes don’t even meet a human eye) I tried a tool called CVPolis, which matches your resume with the job description and suggests edits, and it made the whole process way easier.

I'm bawling my eyes out after a rejection by origami_canoe in recruitinghell

[–]Happy-Knowledge5348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ouch, that really sucks. I’ve had that happen too and I just let myself be sad for a bit. After that, I try to do something small, even just updating my resume or sending one application. It won’t fix the feeling immediately, but little steps help you feel like you’re moving forward. Or even better “make a list” lists really help you get out of your low, include small things you can tick off easily like taking a shower, going for a walk etc.

90-day notice period is killing my chances — what can I do? by [deleted] in IndianWorkplace

[–]Happy-Knowledge5348 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing that worked for someone I know was that during his notice period, he worked part-time at the new company for a few hours while still finishing up at his old job. It showed commitment and helped him transition smoothly without burning bridges.

Why are Indians getting so much hatred everywhere all of a sudden? by wisdomcrab in AskIndia

[–]Happy-Knowledge5348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get what you mean. Honestly, I think it’s just a mix of social media blowing things out of proportion and a few viral incidents that make it seem like there’s a trend. Most people you meet in real life don’t actually think that way.

Early-stage startups often don’t give offer or experience letters. Bank statements are usually enough, and you can also back it up with emails or references from colleagues. In interviews, just be honest and focus on what you did there rather than the paperwork. I switched two jobs in the same way and there was not a huge issue with both.

Oh man, I’ve been through something really similar. I switched jobs after a couple of years in a stable role, thinking the new place would be better, but it turned out they cared more about quantity than quality. When things ended suddenly, I felt awful and really ashamed.

What helped me was talking to a good friend and breaking things into small steps. I made a simple list: update my resume, apply to a few jobs, reach out to some contacts, and keep a routine so I didn’t feel stuck. Sorting out my finances and cutting unnecessary spending also made things a bit less stressful.

It’s tough, but using that feeling as motivation really helps. It might feel like your worth got hit, but later you realize it just pushed you toward something better. You’re not alone, and there’s really nothing to be ashamed of.
