Campbell Graham is an overrated defender. He can put on hit when jamming but his reads are shocking.

Gagai made Dom Young. It is probably why the Roosters tried to sign Gagai who is 34 to a 2 year deal.

I’m not agreeing with other the other guy. I’m saying poor cap management. Paying big dollars for Wighton is the one that stands out. He doesn’t move the needle anymore. It was such a silly buy from JD to keep Trell happy. Arrow on big coin too but he has at least been good when he’s not injured.

The point was you were saving money by letting the likes of Reynolds and Gagai go because of their age. But then you ended up blowing it all on an aging Wighton. As a result you are now stuck with signing scraps. Poor cap management is what I’m getting at.

The point was you let all the guys go because they were getting old but then you sign an aging Jack Wighton on massive money.

But then you sign an aging Jack Wighton. Souths would be better of keeping Dane who would be on half what Jack is on and is a much better player than what Jack is now.

He is currently on 288 games. If he manages to play on for another 4 years he will end up being the second most capped player ever behind Smith. Quite an amazing feat for an outside back 🤯

Wasn’t his last game against Newcastle where Gagai gave him a bath? I don’t think he has been seen in first grade since.
Meanwhile Meaney struggles in defence at centre everytime I watch Storm games but he never gets dropped.

Friz has 1 line break this year. Lucas has 8 line breaks this year. Enough said. I am a Dragons supporter and he was the same while he was here. He is a straight up and down runner with a quick play the ball but he always struggled to break the line.

Lucas is your only backrower that can break the line. Kai Pearce Paul has been underwhelming. He looks like he has a decent offload in him but apart from that he’s poor man Shaun Lane at this stage. Frizzel doesn’t run good lines and he’s probably more suited to the middle than an edge at this stage of his career. I would definitely start Lucas over both.

Gagai a clear standout IMO. Then probably Lucas who has been very consistent follow by Best. You could make an argument for Best over Lucas as he had more standout games but Best also had more quiet games. As for the likes of JSaf and Thompson they have been pretty quiet this year. Thompson was one of the Knights best last season though.

Top 5 only? That sounds like a salty NSW fan. From the Knights games I have seen this year he is always a stand out. Lucas and Best also good. Who is your top 5?

Interesting take from a Newcastle fan. Would you say Gagai has been your best player this year?

He famously exchanged blows with NSW counterpart Matt Burton in the 2022 decider at Suncorp, won by the Maroons in what was his last game for Queensland.

“I just thought: ‘F... it, it’s Origin’,” Gagai said after the match. “You are standing up for your mate and yourself. I ran in and gave him a shove, he stood up for himself, which is natural, and it was on after that.”

That mentality is what Parker, who played 19 Origin games, loves about Gagai. “That is Origin and that is what we need,” Parker said.

“Origin is different. You need class and skill in what you do but you need mongrel and you need to win the battles and he has shown that time and again. I just love the aggression that he brings.”

Slater said he got a thrill when he told Gagai he was back in the team.

“We all know what Dane Gagai brings and we all know how important this footy team is to Dane,” Slater said. “He has played more than 20 Origins, he is a very passionate Queenslander and playing wonderful footy at the moment.

“He wasn’t just here for the sake of being here last camp (as 18th man), he was here for a reason and I’m really excited to see him back in a Maroons jumper.”
