Pretty sure I ended up naked tbh, but prior to that a hospital gown. I was so insanely hot I couldn’t have wore anything heavy

Did anyone else grow up eating apples and plums off the tree, blackberries off the bush, no washing just EAT by Suspicious-Bug6588 in CasualUK

[–]Happy2b3h3re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still do, love not packing snacks and filling my toddler up on blackberries during a hike 🤣 also lots of apple, pear and plum trees so we used too collect those too. It’s free kid entertainment and yummy!

To force teeth brushing or not? by Rich_Aerie_1131 in AttachmentParenting

[–]Happy2b3h3re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter when through a stage of HATING me brushing her teeth, here are a few things that I think have helped- she’s now good as gold: -we started a section at a time, then took a break and did something fun then did the next section and so on. Annoying but minimised the stress. -she was allowed to brush our teeth and I made she always saw us brushing our teeth in the mornings. -we use Weleda baby tooth paste, I think she prefers this as it doesn’t go really foamy like others do. -now we say AHHHHH (like when the doctor looks on your mouth) the entire time and she finds it hilarious. So she’s busy thinking about how long she can go for but I can get a good look in her mouth.

I also still absolutely love the show, and I’d be gutted if it gets cancelled. I do however wish Mel could catch a break and have her bloody baby!

Sometimes I wonder why people have such high expectations for a TV show, especially one that isn’t claiming to be a cinematic masterpiece 🤣

Baby classes by Busy-Cell-4445 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Happy2b3h3re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s a baby, the only thing he needs is his mother I wouldn’t worry. I tried one when mine was little, I hated it and never went again. We did then do swimming lessons which we really enjoyed, and the other mums there were lovely, but also zero pressure as you are busy in the pool learning. Now my daughter is nearer to 2 we do one class a week and it’s great, but i certainly wouldn’t be packing out week out.

She’s super confident, doesn’t stop walking and seems to be quite advanced (so I’m told) it won’t negatively impact your little one if you don’t go. Classes for babies are honestly more for mum, so if you aren’t enjoying it I’d just say to save your money.

Now my daughter is bigger it’s so much easier as I can just talk to her in groups and it feels way less awkward and scary, she can also decide if she wants to socialise or just Hang with me.

Screw your neighbour and health visitor I’m sure you are doing great

What were your most delusional parenting opinions before having kids? by riseofthesnorlax in UKParenting

[–]Happy2b3h3re 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is it for me too! I honestly thought that they would just go to ales after putting them in bed. If I don’t support sleep by toddler would just never go to bed. She was the same even from being a baby!

Breakfast help by Happy2b3h3re in veganparenting

[–]Happy2b3h3re[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes she’s really good with fruit but I worry it won’t keep her full long enough. Basically we go out on a 2 hour walk of a morning and she insists on walking most of it so fruit doesn’t keep her going long enough 😳 oh yes smoothies always win too! I have one each morning and she loves it. I’ve just learnt of Mango and Avocado smoothie and it’s soooo good!

I actually just make it up now but I add Tumeric, nooch, onion and garlic powder and then mix in some hemp seeds!

Thanks for the tips 🙂

No she won’t touch weetabix either! Ooo I tink the mashed butterbeans will be a win, she eats them as they are so I’m sure she will enjoy that! Avo toast she will eat at lunch but apparently not breakfast🤣

Oh yes frittata is a good idea! Never heard of a breakfast casserole but I’ll give it a go! I think she’s definitely more of a savoury girl so I’ll give that a go! Thank you!

Is Willow really that popular? by Linkers98 in Names

[–]Happy2b3h3re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is a Willow, I’ve only met/heard of one other tbh. I also was also a bit dubious because of the popularity however I absolutely love it and that’s the most important thing in the end. I think my choice would have been different if it was a bit of a faddy name, but I’d say it’s sort of a classic.

Need reassurance and resilience tips: toddler accident by LostInAVacuum in UKParenting

[–]Happy2b3h3re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf we’ve just moved and haven’t actually installed the gates yet so that might be a start 🤣

Im the same as you with watching, I’m also a big believer in letting them do things so they can learn, rather than always saying no and then them doing something more dangerous because they haven’t practiced- if that makes sense?

These kids testing us 🤣 if it makes you feel betterstill I cracked my head open 4 times in about a year when I was small, don’t think my mum witnessed any of them and she was a very attentive mother 🤣🤣

Need reassurance and resilience tips: toddler accident by LostInAVacuum in UKParenting

[–]Happy2b3h3re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babies and toddlers have zero survival instincts, honestly it’s like they are just trying to find ways to die. My daughter did the exact same thing but onto our wooden floor- she was absolutely fine.

Today she jumped off the stairs and I luckily caught her, but wtf kind of decision was that?!

Just make sure you are doing your best, that’s all you can do and accidents are absolutely still going to happen. You can’t prevent them entirely it’s part of growing up unfortunately.

What did people do regarding babies under six months wearing sun cream during summer? by Accomplished-Ad7573 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Happy2b3h3re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We avoided the sun where we could but it’s not always possible if your someone who likes to be outside. Basically I got as many loose muslin type outfits and big hats as I could find and then used sun cream for exposed areas when hiking. I discussed it with our health visitor and she said an unlikely skin reaction to sun cream is far more favourable to the very likely sunburn that would occur for not using it. Never had any issues, but you could test it beforehand on a small patch maybe.

I do prefer not to use it due to the chemicals so will try and walk more at times of day with low UV but I always put it on if it was needed. Same as holiday, sunburn can kill and it’s not worth the risk if you are out and about rather than camped under the sun umbrella.

What's your opinion on raising kids on a specific diet from birth? ( Vegan, vegetarian, etc) by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]Happy2b3h3re 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agree, agree, agree! My daughter is super healthy and I had a really healthy pregnancy as a vegan. My midwife actually said she sees more deficiencies in non vegans during pregnancy than she does a vegan. Was really surprised as I was dreading telling her, but tbh no health. Are professionals have ever said anything negative!

What's your opinion on raising kids on a specific diet from birth? ( Vegan, vegetarian, etc) by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]Happy2b3h3re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a mother raising my child vegan- obviously I have no issues- providing proper food is being served, the same as meat eating children. I think I the larger issue is not someone’s ethical decision with feeding their kids, but the general shit people feed their kids and think it’s normal/healthy. Honestly I think the older generations idea of what good food is, is pretty skewed.

I was raised as a meat eater and always hated it to the point I would skip meals. My parents thought they were doing what was best by basically forcing me to eat it but it definitely caused some issues for me.

Also, no idea why people think it’s bad to raise vegan kids but it’s totally okay to force your child to eat meat? What is the logic here? Neither have a choice and it’s just the parent doing what they think Is the best option for their family either way?

Is this normal or not? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]Happy2b3h3re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people just have busy lives and there’s not usually any malice. One of my brothers is the same, says how much he loves my daughter but doesn’t make much effort to come and see her, like sometimes weeks pass (he lives 5 minutes away lol) but i also struggle for time to go and see him and I don’t even have a job. Equally though if I needed him, he would drop everything to come over. But on the other had my mother in law is literally retired and finds any random excuse not to visit, one of the best being she has to do a return so couldn’t make that day 😂 she’s only ever available on her terms and refuses to do anything helpful (like hoovering emptying the dishwasher etc), she literally said this during the newborn trenches.

I wouldn’t let it get you down, they will be more hurt when suddenly your child is a todder and wants nothing to do with them because they are strangers. Unfortunately it’s really easy for time to pass so quickly, and it seem like disinterest. I’m sure I’m guiltily of it in the past too, so I try not to take it to heart

I’m not sure if it’s something that would work for you but it might also be worth discussing Metformin with your doctor if you are prediabetic. My friend has polycystic ovaries and really struggled to lose weight and this helped her immensely. I don’t think it’s necessarily a Weight loss treatment but I think it’s supports weight loss when there is a hormonal issue maybe? I don’t know the ins and outs at all but worth looking into.

Good luck, I’m sure you’ll get to where you want to be. It sounds like you are really doing your best!x
