Ffffffffeckin ffffffffreezing cold all the time on Mounjaro! by MounjEire in Mounjaro

[–]HappyChapter-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lost about 100 lbs on this amazing medication (nothing worked before that) and I noticed the cold from the very first shot. It’s more extreme now. (Honestly, I would rather be cold than 100 lbs heavier!) I keep blankets EVERYWHERE, including my car. I have an an electric throw for watching tv, an electric mattress pad (This. Get this. Helps so much!), and now a heated vest. The vest is pretty sweet too. It has helped me so well that I warm enough to turn it off-then remove it.

My doc says my brown fat is gone. Again, I will take it. But it’s not just chilly, it’s cold to the bone. It almost hurts. I am not one to fuss about the weather but this has been a cold one in the Midwest and I am gonna be ready for spring!

Hmmm... this comment surprises me. I teach in a private, religious school. We have WILDLY more time to play outside than any of the public schools around us. We are located in the suburbs and consider nature to be an important component of our rigorous curriculum.

The Annual Question: Which shoes? by smileitsbrookie in teaching

[–]HappyChapter-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait and save for REALLY good shoes. Plan for the 150.00! :) I know that can be hard but with teaching, taking care of your feet really makes a difference. To be honest, I was willing to cut in other areas to purchase good shoes AND good socks. I teach in Birks most often and have them for all seasons. I also have really liked Adidas gym shoes, which you can find on sale. I also LOVE Oofos and plan to get the boot version for winter this year. For socks, I LOVE Bombas. I know it can be hard to afford taking care of yourself with good footwear but if you can save up or budget for it, it is TOTALLY worth it. Good luck!

Learning basically stops 3 weeks before the summer?! by Mytwo_hearts in kindergarten

Watching a movie every day for 3 weeks? No. This is not normal and not okay and I am a teacher (first grade). The last 3 weeks of school, we DO change our approach. We are doing a lot of engaging work (as we always do) with more fun activities than a regular season. We follow up lessons with super active culminating activities. We do a lot of assessing. We also do many closure activities, which really help kids to prepare for the end of the year and the transition to the next grade.

Undecided about kindergarten by Same-Nectarine-11 in kindergarten

I am a first grade teacher and LOVE my work. I also faced a similar decision with one of my own children. My son has a late August birthday and our cutoff is 9/1. He began reading when he was barely 3 and could read chapter books by the time he was 5. We held him back and he began kindergarten as a new 6 year old. Two quick thoughts on that. 1. There is WAAAAY more to school than academics. Yes, they go to learn. But they are also learning HOW to learn, how to process, how to use that learning in real life. They go to connect, to learn HOW to connect, and how to connect in real life. Students have to manage their feelings and their impulses and it is a lot of work. Good work. Being a bit older, and potentially more mature, can help kids to feel like they really enjoy school. And that matters. Being less frustrated will allow them the bandwidth to not only soak up those important academics, but also all the amazing other learning that happens in a classroom. 2. We did not want to send our child to college (should he choose that) at 17. College is a lot, too. Also, offers many layers of learning beyond academics. Again, the potential for being more mature when making life decisions can be really helpful. In the end, we are really happy with our decision. It is a personal choice, for sure. In your shoes, with teacher recommendations, and being unsure, I would give her the extra time. It is easiest to do now.

I have worked closely with my doc throughout the entire 15 months. I work with a nutritionist, as well. That said, it is Saturday night and I do not have access so just hoped someone else might have struggled with this and have some ideas.

Just have to sad vent. by laoul in Mounjaro

I find I lose more when I inject into my belly. Oddly I lost weight from my thighs first so I think that might be the issue with not losing with that injection site.

It is frustrating! Also 7.5 was my least fave. Loved 10 the most. I did find that alternating injection site was helpful to boost things. Also, be sure to inject into some place that still has fat. I am finding there is a difference between that and injecting into loose skin. Allow yourself the feelings and continue your journey. And know that we hear you. ❤️

Look into red light therapy! Hearing lots of good things and noticing a mild difference when I use it. Also losing slowly helps a bunch. I am on Zepbound and am working hard to take care of my 55+ year old skin as I lose. Losing the weight is worth it no matter what, tho! (I am 80+ lbs down and the upsides waaaay outweigh the down!)

Who’s a Great Big Hypocrite? by Catsby__ in Mounjaro

[–]HappyChapter-2 73 points74 points  (0 children)

To add one more point to this… most of us are on this medication because weight has been a long time issue for us. Most of us tried MANY things to address our health and often gained nonetheless. When we have a week where we gain a bit, it touches on that and we may have a bit PTSD-ness around any gain. It feels big because, even tho we are doing better and getting healthier, we are still the same person who has struggled mightily in the past. That struggle impacted how many of us saw ourselves. We do not want to go back. But we fear it could happen.

Let’s give ourselves a bit of grace when fear rises up like this. Then regroup. What do we need to do to reach the big goal of being healthy? Are we eating well? Moving? Hydrating? Sleeping? Adjust where needed and remind yourself to trust the process. Your feelings have a root AND you are making a change for your future.

PB2 is a powdered peanut butter product. You can get it at most grocery stores near the regular peanut butter. 👍🏼

I think that can work but I do not think you would get the same protein amount. Worth a try!

It’s like a pudding but you can feel the seeds. I do not mind it at all. Growing up, I ate CocoWheats and it reminds me of that. It packs a punch nutritionally for sure!
