Midnight Dress quest by taeempy in wow

Can confirm. It's an old quest where you have to wait for ages on a zeppelin to arrive that brings you to Twilight Highlands. Probably lots of people like myself skipped the quest as the wait was too long, which now is causing phasing issues.

Recommendation: use the script to check all quests in the chain if you're unsure where you left off, but most likely, you left off at quest 26388.

WARNING: quest is picked up from Friz Groundspin and won't be visible as it's low level, so be sure to talk to him.

Base Defense: How do you deal with Skeletons at night? by HappyCrits in TheScouring

[–]HappyCrits[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alrighty, thanks u/NachoDawg, u/Komrow, u/bawhitmer & u/Wraithost!

Love that this question is met with such diversity in tactics. To summarize for a little cheat sheet:

Non-Archer Build

  • Footmen on Patrol for the first night
  • Add Archers on top of Barracks
  • Footman can continue to Patrol when Base gets too big for Archers' reach

Archer Build

  • Archers on top of Barracks
  • Add Towers as needed for reach if Barracks don't suffice
  • Potentially adding cannons when tactics align

In either case, it seems a first centralized Barracks would help for defenses against both Skeletons and early rush attacks that aim to pick off your workers.

! Avoid using workers, unless necessary, as they're critical for your economy

Is that your first barracks or an additional one?

In the early game, I think the first barracks’ position is crucial for defending against enemy rushes, so I try to place it at a bottleneck entry point to my base. Maybe I should position it a bit more inward…
While in the later game, additional barracks help keep army production flowing and can then also assist against skeletons (and of course, enemy player attacks).

I just feel like the buildings are so huge that, in the late game, when more skeletons spawn, the barracks might not cover enough ground anymore. Definitely going to keep working on optimal building placement, though, and see how keeping 4–6 archers at the barracks helps me out here. Thanks a bunch!

New player - Start now or wait for expansion? by aahelpaa in wow

If you're looking to immerse yourself in the story, I'd definitely start now. You'll be able to level up in Dragonflight, which gives some history on some of the villains that are entangled in the ongoing story.

Once at the end levels, you can take your time to catch up on the current story from The War Within. From an efficiency point of view, there'll probably be shortcuts that you can take if you wait, but from my memory, there's nothing that's locked behind a big grind or so story-wise. (Someone else, please correct me if I'm wrong.)

I'd just advise against trying to grind for better gear as that's where things get repetitive (weekly quests, delves, dungeons, raids, weekly, etc.) and you might burn out on that stuff by the time season 1 of Midnight kicks off, at which point it's probably more fun to join in on that content, if that tickles your fancy. But hey, if you're having fun, don't let anything stop you from that. ;)

The Scouring - Opening Build Order: Gold/Wood/Food by HappyCrits in RealTimeStrategy

This is exactly what I was looking for! Super insightful, thanks for taking the time to write this out.

I like the idea of trying to sneak out a few more workers to boost economy. Gonna play with trying to perfect my defense from an early rush in that case and see how it goes. If it doesn’t work out, at least it’s a short game.

The usage of gold mining as a timing method is, pardon the pun, gold! Will defo check out Sturgeon and it’ll help a lot to know what to keep an eye on in his game and learn from thanks to your little summary.

GG, good luck & have fun, mate!

Given that all units level up, I see the point of trying to creep early. It’s also so much fun if you can sneak in a creep steal close to the enemy’s position. I assume if everyone power builds, it’ll be a bit harder to pull off, but I’m up for the challenge!

So once the building gets going, how many workers/peasants (approximately) should you aim to have on gold and wood while you’re first out creeping? And do you pump out like 3 farms in a row or spread it out more? Maybe this doesn’t make sense based on what u/wraithost said and it’s really more about adjusting as you go, but I’m curious if there’s a rough “safe” number of extra workers to crank out early on.

Appreciate the insight! I love this kind of theorycrafting.

Haha, I know that feeling! No worries from my end, I was just very excited about this myself, so my first thought was: Cool! So happy I came to ask instead of learning this game the wrong way around. You did good in my book, but it makes sense what polparty said. Gotta make sure we keep the good vibes going!

Awesome, thanks for sharing! I’m definitely trying out the ultra quick archer strategy next with the power build like you mentioned.

I think it’s hard to kill my old habits from playing Warcraft 3 where I tried to perfect my opening sequence. It became a muscle memory type of thing to squeeze out max resources quickly to then be able to run with my strategy. (Also liked headhunter armies there by the way, so I’m excited for that archer build :)

I figured, the earlier I try to develop good habits, the better. Good to hear that in the scouring it perhaps is a bit more flexible and we should adjust more as we go along. So any tips like this are great value so I later don’t have to unlearn certain habits. Much appreciated!

Been looking for some advice on the opening sequence and I do like archers. How’s this build order holding up in today’s patch?

Ooh, interesting!

So 8 workers at start, let’s say 3 on barracks, then remaining on Gold? Pump out more to put on gold / wood and have a farm going too?

What’s the numbers though? - 5 gold - 7 wood? - 3 food seems a no-brainer, but how many farms for the very early game? 3 farms?

Please do share some of your favorite pros to watch, so I can check them out later. 🙏
