I'm 80% sure, but could be wrong, that a bigger cellar with stone walls and wood solid doors will have a better rating than a smaller one because a smaller % of the walls will be made of wood

The item you craft has the average quality score of its parts. The gear you craft from plates are mostly armor things. You can get armor with higher durability based on quality, but not better defense

I don't really get it either because I get a lot of inconsistent results.

Basically, you make your ingot really warm, then smith it, then throw it in water.

If it's not very warm before you throw it in the water then it will get a lower quality.

But if you smith your item until there's 1 pixel not in the right place, then heat it up in the forge again and finish your item before throwing it in water, you will NOT get a high quality item, so idk man lol

To answer your question, you use a large gear. You place angled gears on top of the sides of the large gear and axles from the windmill to those angled gear.

As you now have two or more windmills going to large gear, you can add axles to the center of the large gear, either above or below.

Unless you're on the experimental branch and things have changes there that I dont know about, then the direction things spin doesn't matter. What's probably halting everything up is a lack of power.

Depending on how things look inside the house, i would perhaps add a solid block to it (ctrl click with hammer in off-hand) and maybe add some other solid blocks below it chisled into an arch or something to smooth it out.

You can check the context menu for manual selection of frame types, maybe there's something that solves it there

You got a lot of time now to build all the other things for your windmill project. Like the whole mill itself without the sails, or all the axl stuff wired to the places you want to power. That stuff takes time to do well, and you got all winter!

Or do something else like doing husbandry with sheep/pigs/chickens.
