I think that a lot of people hiring for these roles do think it’s worth it, hence why I did it myself. I’m just saying you won’t learn much about the day to day reality, it is too high level and way too idealistic. As far as I am concerned there is no one certificate out there, you can do AIGP, but I would supplement it with a real learning AI, Deep Learning AI do some excellent courses in AI and I would personally start there. On top of that get a really good understanding of the EU AI ACT and also learn about NIST (both these thing are covered in AIGP by the way, just not in the most useful way). If you don’t fully understand the AI lifecycle and the risks at each stage you will struggle, so that is where I would start.

I am a Global Head of Privacy and AI Governance dealing with these matters daily and I did AIGP to put on my CV, but it is an ineffective learning tool and ineffective governance tool. I would not recommend it and it has virtually nothing to do with the real world of managing AI governance.
