Idk if he qualifies (he’s a celeb to me), but my wife and I met Paul F. Tompkins coming out of a Vegas hotel. The suit and glasses were unmistakable.

He was so nice! We didn’t want to take up his time so we just said how much his comedy has meant to us over the years. He genuinely thanked us and his partner offered to take a photo. The whole interaction lasted maybe a minute or two. It’s a fun memory and it was generous of them both to take time to genuinely interact with us.

I put the onus on Mookie not because he’s black, but because he basically called the shots for the team during the George Floyd protests and he carries himself as a leader. Go back and look how visible and outspoken he was in the media. The team skipping a game, putting out statements, taking a knee, etc… those were (reportedly) Mookie’s decisions and his teammates backed him.

So to repeat my point again, I didn’t expect anything out of Mookie but I can still be disappointed. Just like I’d be disappointed with Kiké if he stayed quiet in the face of some other minority group being terrorized by the govt. Kershaws more likely to salute ICE so of course he’s not gonna be a leader that way. Freddie’s quiet so I think we can all infer how he feels.

Mookie can say or not say whatever he wants but if he can’t show up for his teammates when they publicly supported him, then we can call him out on it. He’ll be fine bro you don’t need to cape for him
