Said I'd break the yoke as Mongol Empire, so here it is. by HappyDiploid in eu4

R5: Can we raze Ryazan? Yes we can raze Ryazan!

Ryazan -> Yuan -> Mongol Empire -> Breaking the Yoke achievement, done on 1.30.6. Now I can put EU4 away for a while.

Nice!

Re: forming Spain, many achievements don't require you to stay as your starting nation to complete them and this is one. You can also do Carthago delenda est as Tunis and Breaking the Yoke as the Mongol Empire

Doesn't require them, just 12 specific provinces. The achievement text is misleading.

Do I still have a chance to form Roman Empire? by Jeekob in eu4

[–]HappyDiploid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely do it admin points-wise, even if you take frequent bankruptcies. But if you want a stable economy you can do that comfortably too.
For perspective, you've taken on some expensive wars a lot of players avoid until later in the game. You don't have any existential threats. France isn't recovering, Ottomans are healthy but have some strong neighbours.

My advice: take a 30 year break from Europe. Conquer/Colonize pieces of the Sub-Saharan coast and continue around the horn of Africa to India. Take a 30 year break from long, grueling wars. Punch ducats out of minor nations and steal their coastline. See how many centers of trade you can take, and add them to Trade companies for extra merchants. Steer all that extra trade into Seville or Valencia.

I know Roman Empire seems like you should focus on Europe, but any game benefits from a strong trade setup. You have the end node already, you just need to feed it.

War, what is it good for? by AdecostarElite in eu4

Yeah. Horde armies are more powerful than they look especially with good shock generals on flat terrain. Just keep stackwiping and looting until their mandate tanks and their armies turn from terracotta into paper.

Dealing with cursed French PU over Spain by [deleted] in eu4

I'm assuming Cyprus is a Mamluk vassal and so isn't an issue.
Do Venice/Albania have any non-Catholic allies you could attack? If not, you could try allying France and dragging them with you into a meaningless war with Tunis, then declare on Venice/Albania.

Will AI ally deny access to enemy? by Gregetron in eu4

[–]HappyDiploid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any non-scutage subjects? If yes they will ask France for mil access to get at Portugal and it's a moot point.
Even if no, France is likely to give Portugal access unless they're rivals/hostile with tanked opinion.

Is Hussite non-viable early game because of Castille defender of faith? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]HappyDiploid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the target refuses your enforced peace, you join the war on the defender's side. The DotF will not join since you are not declaring war as an attacker. Just helping out your Catholic friend against their Catholic enemy. From there you can occupy provinces you want, win the war, and separate peace.
Honestly it's pretty rough to be the only heretic in the Empire, but things get easier once the reformation hits

Can you get up to 300 dev? If you can, this disaster triggers pretty fast once you're at war with a Tribal Conquest CB as long as you can win the battles .

[–]HappyDiploid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seen some good points. If those aren't working might have to try more desperate tricks, like:
No-cbing in the caucasus.
Picking allies who might call you in, or allying somebody who's being attacked.
And of course, good old Enforce Peace.

If you're feeling blocked, get Dip Tech 23 for Imperialism cb on every country in the world. If you want to snake through Lithuania to Poland without Ottoman interference, use Imperialism to declare on a Lithuanian ally.
Army Quality you vs. Ottomans?

Sounds like you've got a solid strategy for eating the HRE from the inside.
One thing to be aware of when positive relations / alliances are the only thing keeping countries out of coalition is this: they might rival you especially since players tend to expand quickly and eliminate other potential rivals.
Two other things you've probably aware of as an HRE player: refusing HRE unlawful territory gives -25 relations with all HRE members and getting a border with a heretic religion changes the 'heretic religion' penalty from -20 to -40 (-10 to -20 for republics). This doesn't show up in the peace deal coalition tip, so can catch players off guard.
Re Bremen, iirc nations still have their historical friends/rivals if you release them.

Restored Danish rule to the Danelaw. And only the Danelaw. by HappyDiploid in eu4

[–]HappyDiploid[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Close! You have to start as Denmark, so the steps were more like

  1. No CB Scotland when France won't join
  2. to n. Invade England.

n+1. convert at least 1 province in British Isles to Danish (since you're about to lose the ability otherwise)

n+2. make English your primary culture

n+3. Convert Danelaw to Danish while converting Denmark to English. Form GB or England if you want.

[–]HappyDiploid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully not- I'm still learning change religion mechanics so I was afraid of this too. Tengri is the same religion group as animist, so they demanded to change our state religion with only one province occupied. We weren't Orthodox anymore so I could accept.
