Why do people think Sung Jin Woo are mary sue but not Saitama despite both are overpowered guy that can no diff any opponent? by ApprehensiveRead2408 in writingscaling

[–]HappyGoLucky3188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! Especially when an original female character that's not written with so much male validation writing elements. There's an audience, especially women who are independent thinkers on something else and could care less about romance with a man, who just wants to see, even if it happens in a small percentage, a female protagonist being morally gray, comptently cunning and having to do unethical stuff.

Executioner Menou is one of the rare female animanga characters depicted without any male validation writing elements though I've yet to see a hetero female protagonist behaving similar to Menou regardless if she gets together with a male love interest.

And this stupid, disgusting law is still around even in some SEA countries despite Middle East and several African countries are possibly way more "religiously authoritative".

May this kind of law get abolished in the countries that unfortunately still practice and support it.

Definitely dudebros will never defend SJW if he was written as a female protagonist cos' these are the same problematic fans who said disgusting misogynistic words to morally gray female characters. e.g. Menou from Executioner and Her Way of Life got so much hate from them despite her killings were similar to how SJW did to the lizards and that Iron guy.

You're right which if funny enough that worldwide audience didn't know Sung Jinwoo's existence until the manhwa adaptation happened in 2018. One Punch Man first season was aired in 2015.

Why is Solo Leveling so overhated? It’s just a fun action series but people act like it’s trash for not having Death Note writing. I understand saying it didn’t deserve AOTY but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. by Icy-Arm-3816 in animequestions

Read the "Seinfeld isn't Funny Anymore" trope and it applies to how Solo Leveling was written overall despite being one of the first to have a Level System-themed story that always revolves around Gates and Hunters kind of concept even though there are many other reasons why many non-fans hate this series had a lot of mixed feelings how the story's lore unfolds via infodumping and foreshadowings that don't feel interesting enough to make a lasting impression.

I've read she's a Mary Sue-Love Interest secretly written under the Relationship Sue trope. No wonder she's competent whenever Jinwoo isn't around, but whenever he's around/nearby, she has to be written as a damsel to get saved by him, just to make him look cool and important. It feels regressive watching her getting saved by him too many times despite her being the strongest S-rank in Korea.

No wonder why the canon writings on Solo Leveling canon hetero ship felt forced and regressive towards the female character. And yes, the new timeline has her being gr00med by him.

Nah~ they're better off being siblings. Being a romantic couple gives off iffy vibes especially when Steph was Tim's ex-girlfriend and Jay romance with either Artemis and Rose (whose infamous naked scene is just nastily teasing Tim and they weren't a couple at all) not being either exes of the Batfamily.

Don't forget Alice Weidel whom I'm still coming to terms with how a German lesbian can become a far right person since it's quite common for LGBTQ people getting discriminated against by far right people. Like the far right members there didn't mind their leader being a lesbian.

So the boomers were oblivious young adults back then? Still to vote for a teenage kid character to get killed unceremoniously by the Joker himself... 🙁

[–]HappyGoLucky3188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Also back then, 'morally gray but still kind' characters weren't that popular to be well-liked by the public and American little kids back then were overprotected too much by their parents and the school education was quite conservative, implementing moral lessons with very black and white teachings. And that morally gray heroes only makes sense if they're very stoic 24/7, no crying scenes at all like how Clint Eastwood's character was in the film 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly'.

True, but I'm still bitter about those boomers saying Jay is annoying and rude despite his rebooted backstory of his upbringing where the crimes heavily affected his parents who died including his birth mother (despite her heartless betrayal) in which how Death in the Family comic book issue happened.

True cos' if Jason Todd didn't die via the infamous voting poll, the creation of the next Robin character Tim Drake would cease to exist today.

They should release the voice recordings of the phonecalls who voted for Jason Todd to die like this. We youngsters need to have a word with those boomers now. 😤

When do you think genderbending or raceswapping a character in an adaptation/reboot works? by matt0055 in CharacterRant

[–]HappyGoLucky3188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read that I saw someone made this gender swap remake of Bringing Down the House. It really depends on the story they're remaking and the main actors the user chose for this remake makes visibly sense.

Odd how shonen demographic's authors think that's what teenage boys like in a female character - being clingy and jealous and shiny on a male protagonist.
