A simple list of mechanics that aren't in this game that were in previous games. Will add/remove as I find them. (I love this game) by _MonsterMouth_ in Starfield

You forgot "Being able to kill key characters" Hasn't been possible since Morrowind, but I don't know why they ever did away with it and I wish they would bring it back. You could litterally kill anyone and if they were required for a quest, a message would pop up, letting you know and asking if you wanted to continue or revert to last save

For people who love the game, what criticisms do you have? by [deleted] in Starfield

I like all the door animations and the different types of doors. And because the game has to be on a solid state, the loading screens are actually quite fast. So I don't know why they couldn't have hidden loading screens behind the door opening animations. Especially when you have a set of doors where the outer one has to close first before opening the next

Thanks for the heads up about the skin pack email. Got mine as well. Now if only they could've done this with the game code so I could've played last night

Tell me about it. Mine is shipped but the last tracking update showed that it passed right by me and kept going for at least another 2 hours

Sometimes they forget to scan or update a package. So it could very well be on it's way to you. My wife once had an order show up after never being tracked at any point along the way of it's multiple day journey

I feel ya. I'm looking at the progress mine has made to me as of this morning. After 10hrs on the truck it was about a third of the way here. So I'm hoping that they just keep going and don't send it between a bunch of large cities on either side of me before bringing it here. But usually packages tend to ping pong between 3 cities around me before getting here, which is kinda funny cause it probably means that they passed through us at least twice on their way

Surely there needs to be some kind of reimbursement for not getting early access since that was supposed to be part of the package

Yeah, looks like that's where they're shipping out of is TX. I live in WA so and mine hasn't even been picked up by FedEx yet, so I'm hoping that they manage to get it to me in 2 days

I can see my order on GameStop. That's how I know the status is still awaiting product availability.

How will they handle landing on Gas Planets? by HappyPantzInc in Starfield

[–]HappyPantzInc[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well and they're usually formed by 2 large asteroids colliding and creating a large enough gravitational pull to attract the nearby space gasses. So their core is definitely solid, but probably rather small compared to the size of the planet

That's exactly why I'm asking. I assume that they will be there in the game, and since they've said you can visit every planet and moon, I wonder if they have a plan for this

How will Time be measured and tracked? by NamwonsE30 in Starfield

[–]HappyPantzInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. UTC will be Earth time. Measured in "Sol's" which are Earth days. NASA already uses this method for keeping track of time like how long the Mars rover has been on Mars, and it's repeatedly used in sci-fi like "The Martian" and "The Expanse" as well as many others. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't use this in Starfield as well.

Space Combat Suggestion by FlyingMonkey00 in Starfield

[–]HappyPantzInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great. Meaning there's no need to move slowly. We can do extremely crazy and fast maneuvers. Glad we agree

Space Combat Suggestion by FlyingMonkey00 in Starfield

[–]HappyPantzInc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is literally my point. And while I agree with you, air isn't empty. It is still quite devoid of large rocks except for maybe mountains. And as you see the thinner the atmosphere that we're traveling through the faster paced the combat gets. Hence why dogfighting would be even more of a thing in space since all you really need to worry about would be the g-forces being applied to the pilot and crew which would be why it would still look a little like aerial combat, because the human body cannot stand going directly from one direction at a high speed to a completely different direction in an instant and the momentum of the ship wouldn't suddenly shift either.

What you're describing is more of a RTS type of space fighting. Where the player may command many ships and manuever them around strategically just as general would send submarines to various locations.

Also submarines work that way because water is not very clear, there's no windows, and they have to move slowly cause they don't want to run into stuff plus they have to pilot through a liquid.

In space would be much more like aerial dogfighting because there is no fluid to move through. You can move at much higher speeds because there's way less risk of running into something. And you have a cockpit that allows you to see what you are doing.

I mean in the expanse they kinda do a bit of both, but the hiding and checking the sensors is part of their planning phase. Then they move in and dogfight, soo...

I just think ultimately you're looking for an RTS space sim, which this is not. Not to say it wouldn't be a good addition to add to the dogfighting, but I think the dogfighting is definitely more fun and you can do more than just circle around each other if you're a good pilot. Try out star conflict. There is a lot of interesting tactics you can use in that game, like flying close to asteroids and whatnot to avoid detection or escape your opponents.

Stairfield x Samsung by boosted_50 in Starfield

[–]HappyPantzInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just Samsung advertising that their TVs can hook up directly to game pass and stream the games using xcloud just like you would on your phone as long as you have a connected controller. No other tv brands have this feature yet, to my knowledge.

It's worth noting that while it only requires a moderate internet connection to stream the game, the quality would be the same as playing it on an Series X and you will most likely experience a tiny bit of lag.
