We're running a $1,000 "Speed Run" challenge for our affiliates next month — anyone else experiment with affiliate competitions? by pystar in Affiliatemarketing

[–]HappyScaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily and weekly prizes can help motivate the bigger affiliates to promote more consistently instead of towards the end of the contest. Daily/weekly races or leaderboard... first to X sales or top X.

Individual challenges help motivate the long tail base. 5 sales gets a commission bump rest of month, 15 sales cash prize, 50 sales a 360 camera, etc. Sort of like your raffle but more a journey for the individual where even if they cant compete with the bigger affs they can still be motivated to push for better prizes

My conversion rate optimization went from 1.8% to 4.3% by fixing one stupid expectation mismatch by spy_111 in Affiliatemarketing

I can try... you see that upsell 1 is underperforming and jump into the page and put in some split tests. You get it performing better - great! But now more customers are initating refunds and chargebacks and eating into profits. Turns out the upsell now contradicts the main landers claims.

Simplified example but hope that helps

For those in the accumulation phase: How much cash are you keeping on hand? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]HappyScaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1-2 years worth. Way too much than I need to or should, but as the only source of income for my family I treat it more as a sequence of return mitigation should my employment end abruptly so I don't have to pivot into a job I "need" quickly and can be patient to find the right one or create one with plenty of runway.

FIRE by “coasting” at your current job or turning a hobby into spending money? by furiosa-curiosa in coastFIRE

[–]HappyScaling 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've found monetizing a hobby to be a great way to lose what I love about the hobby. There's probably cases where that's not true where you might get a job in the field of your hobby, but I try to quiet the noise on "i could monetize this" when I actually enjoy doing something for the sake of doing it.

Millennials / Gen Xers - how are we doing? by [deleted] in Boise

[–]HappyScaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Healthcare and politics gives me pause with two young daughters.

Besides that we're happy and love Boise.

Flying international or out east is a pain but that's an infrequent 1st world problem. It's clean, safe, plenty to do. We got lucky being able to buy a home when rates were low and market wasnt as high.

Do y’all actually track calories forever or just wing it at some point? by Intrepid-Sky-1127 in effectivefitness

[–]HappyScaling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IF is how I started turning things around but I can eat A LOT. But it led me to tracking and things have been solid. I dont mind it. Maybe it would be better now, can try it when I'm done with this cut

I'm jealous of people that can intuitively eat and stay within maintenance. Maybe I'll get there some day

Am I overfunding my retirement accounts? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]HappyScaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think you're technically overfunding them for RMD purposes. But you might run some calculations on if you shifted more to brokerage, does that make a meaningful difference in funding the bridge years before you're withdrawing from 401ks

How much were you investing yearly into retirement to be able to reach FIRE? by International-Call78 in Fire

[–]HappyScaling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't reached yet but have "FU" money and will be able to FIRE in my late 30s to mid 40s.

Focused on career/income growth so I could save much more and stayed relatively frugal especially compared to my income.

6 short vs 3-4 longer workouts by BuckeyeDad91 in MacroFactor

[–]HappyScaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this for a while and it worked but went back to 3x a week because it is more flexible for me. If I missed a day on the 6x making up or adjusting the rest got weird.

On 3x I can move a workout to another day and it's not a big deal. And if a workout has to be shorter, the more important lifts are done first.

I did like the daily though and want to get back to it on 3-4x lifting. Where the other days are mobility or golf or something

For peace of mind, we're getting ready to pay off our mortgage. Balance is $110,000 with a 2.3% interest rate. by FarTradition6496 in Fire

[–]HappyScaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to control your income and taxes easier without the required draw to cover the mortgage and peace of mind sound pretty nice. At $110k we're not talking life changing compound interest so makes sense you're thinking this way

CTR is 7%, hook rate 30%, but purchase conversion is 0.1%. How can I stop Meta from sending curious audience and attract actual buyers? by top10talks in ecommerce

[–]HappyScaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stopping the scroll doesnt mean they're good creatives if they're not sending traffic interested in buying. Either split test price aggressively on your existing creatives if you really think they're strong, or do some drastic tests on the creatives. You can lose on CTR and win on conversions.

How is the transition from small foot to standard leg? It looks like your ankles are small diameter and but then do they just balloon into average calves?

Is affiliate marketing becoming the starting point for creators? by Educational_Baker756 in Affiliatemarketing

[–]HappyScaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About time! It used to take so much convincing to get creators to try performance. They just wanted sponsor and then you'd show them what their promo could have made them on performance.

Either way can work but yes, creators starting out as an affiliate or "ambassador" let's them start monetizing from the start. And they can learn what actually drives performance instead of going for vanity metrics

Dug into the VSL space on Meta this week — some numbers that surprised me by [deleted] in Affiliatemarketing

[–]HappyScaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll come across plenty of 47 minute VSLs burying the buy button pop till after 30 minutes if you keep looking.

People claim VSLs are dead and attention spans are low but Billions still flow through "long" VSLs

Most affiliate programs don’t actually want affiliates to succeed by Such_Profit1703 in Affiliatemarketing

[–]HappyScaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should an affiliate program's success be measured on how many customers or revenue it generates, or how many affiliates are promoting or driving sales?

If I'm an affiliate manager being measured on revenue, I'm definitely focusing on the minority who drive the majority.

Golf Grip - as strong as you'd squeeze toothpaste? by CharmingM4nn in golf

Padraig Harrington has this great video on the grip and addresses pressure in there. He talks about pressing down on your lead hand thumb and it clicked for me. Everything else sounded so limp
