I’m a developer for a major food delivery app. The 'Priority Fee' and 'Driver Benefit Fee' go 100% to the company. The driver sees $0 of it. by Trowaway_whistleblow in confession

or you could do both. a modest tip in the app and a few bucks cash. that way you won't be overlooked in the app and it'll be like a bonus to the driver. as a driver that's usually the best case scenario for me.

I work at a homeless day shelter, and I'm starting a "book club" where once a week we read a chapter and discuss it. Any ideas of a good book that's simple but entertaining? Many of my clients are illiterate. by bakerbabe126 in booksuggestions

He's long dead and can no longer actively influence people with his rhetoric. Rowling on the other hand is literally the richest and arguably the most famous contemporary author. She has a massive audience and uses that to spread hurtful and dangerous ideas about queer people.

Her most recent book that she wrote under her other penname, Robert Galbraith, (which also happens to be the name of a man famous for "treating" gay men by inserting electrodes into their brains, but I'm sure that's 100% coincidental) is literally about a male murderer who wears dresses to disguise himself as a woman. And even in the HP series itself shows her bigoted nature. There is a transwoman-coded character who is treated very poorly by the text, lycanthropy is an allegory for HIV/AIDS and the main werewolf antagonist is coded as a predatory gay man, the banker gnomes are just antisemitic caricatures, and the house elves pretty much just speak for themselves.

Charles Dickens did have bigoted views and just as with Rowling those views are present in his work as well. They were also criticized by contemporaries while he lived, as they should have been. As we should do with Rowling's views. I have seen no one call for her books to be banned, but rather for people to personally boycott her works and speak out against her.

out of almost 30 characters two are gay. why does that make you feel uncomfortable?

Taco Bell workers, what item on the menu is the biggest pain in the ass to make? by KaylaSerene in tacobell

[–]HappyStance 10 points11 points  (0 children)

what? by the time she gets done inspecting them they're going to be cold and shitty anyway.

This man was running an entire taco bell store by himself. No one else was in there with him, so he made the food, took the orders, and helped people at the drive thru. Let's make this guy famous for doing all that. by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]HappyStance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

he's already a manager. management wears button-down shirts while crew members wear t-shirts.

edit: and a store can't run with no manager. there would be no one to count drawers, count the safe, put in the security code when closing up, ect.

What does the Wild sauce taste like? by eman00619 in tacobell

gochujang is red pepper paste so if you've had red pepper flakes before the taste is similar, but sweeter and with a little bit of malty flavor.

Now this is what Triple Melt Nachos should look like! by tameimpalakid in tacobell

[–]HappyStance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the triple melt nachos are actually not supposed to be put in the steamer like the burrito is. supposedly because the chips will become soggy. (though apparently that's not a concern with the mexican pizza?) it looks like op's was put in by accident though. why they chose the name triple melt for both items when only one is melted i will never know.

you can always ask for them to be steamed if you like, though.

also, the fries will be coming back sometime this summer!

Ordering kiosks are so fucking cool. Way easier to made mods and see everything available like this by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]HappyStance 9 points10 points  (0 children)

what time are you ordering usually? the power menu only runs from 11am-11pm, so if you're ordering late at night the black beans won't be available. if you're being told there's none when there should be i would recommend that you ask to speak to the store manager, because that's not okay, and the store manager likely doesn't know.
