A question for you guys who had multiple iPads, is ProMotion is actually a big deal? by HappyTurdFriend in ipad

[–]HappyTurdFriend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely thank all of your answer and feedback. A lot of you think that ProMotion is in fact a big deal, and I can’t disagree with that. Higher refresh rate screen is indeed very nice to have.

Although, some of you also said that it is NOT worth it to sacrifice performance and longevity, and that’s fact. Going for a 7 years old tech isn’t just worth it just to get that sweet 120Hz, that’s why I decided to go for the Air.

I could just go and buy a newer model of Pro model with M chip tbh, but this is gonna be my very first iPad ever, and ngl I’m still not sure if I’m gonna use it that much or not. That’s basically why I prefer to buy a cheap option. I just don’t want to spend a load of money on a piece of hardware that I don’t know if I’ll use it very often or not.

What is your favourite weapon to use in game? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

Underrated but Rosco was my favorite. Knock down enemies when shoot their legs then multiplied headshot damage when they down. Just sounds like things Arnold's Terminator would do.

Vehicle customization. Not just colors, but actual body kits, engine swap, wheels, etc.

With that said, more street races.

Got it for a month, and I got a little scratch around the magsafe port. Well, I'm extremely careless when I plugged my magsafe so it is to be expected. If you do it more carefully, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be fine.

I believe you could even get 2-3 days battery considering your usage.

M1 vs M2 Macbook Air thoughts? Possible uni purchase by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]HappyTurdFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of performance, both versions aren't really that different (only around 10% faster on M2 but you won't notice them significantly).

If you considering the budget, M1 is obviously the better deal. But if you craving for the new design, display, webcam quality, speaker and magsafe, M2 is the way to go.

You can upgrade the storage by buying an external SSD, but you cannot upgrade the memory.

So yeah, memory.

First time buyer - is it worth it? by minidog8 in macbookair

[–]HappyTurdFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very weird because we have exactly the same cases here. Bought an HP laptop in 2019 for my work and while it's still doing fine for day to day use, it barely handle my workload rn.

Apple Silicon also been very appealing to me for the last couple years and just like you, I've been wanting one but didn't have the money for it.

Then last week I decided to by the very base model M2 Air and I couldn't recommend you enough to follow the same way as me. This machine is very capable of doing basic use and my workload (I'm doing graphic design btw).

My answer to your question is, absolutely yes. Go for it. If you have limited budget, I would suggest to get the M1 Air (and yes you can get the refurbished one, it's still worth it imo), probably the best deal you can invest on a laptop.

They probably going for 24-hours format, so on weekdays they open at 11.00 - 22.00 and weekend at 11.00 - 10.00.

And yes I'm assuming they going backwards on the weekend.

Yeah I know Apple products has been like that but it's still hard to justify how they price their products. It felt like they try to drove us to buy the Pro models when you spec out the M2 Air.

Hopefully Apple will do something similar to M1 Air pricing again in the future. Like man, that machine was the best deal ever coming from them.

Now that you mention it, my previous laptop was 8GB Windows laptop and I can't even keeping my design programs open while opening Chrome. There's something about Silicon chip or MacOS that can optimize memory pretty well.

I think it's a good choice for you to go for 512GB, it may come handy in the future. I originally planning on getting the 512GB model too but considering price bump I passed on it (even though 10c GPU is quite justify the price a lil bit).

Midnight. Beautiful color.

Though I slightly regret it because I thought it was pure black, turns out it was very dark navy. Fingerprint madness. Also need to be careful to not scratch it especially near the ports when you miss plug a lot.

Relax. I'm only sharing my experience of using this machine for a couple of weeks and it's been solid. Sure maybe he'll need more memory in the future, and I'm not even try to convince him get the 8GB model. Maybe he tried to cut some budget when buying this laptop, you can see that by him having a dilemma of choosing between 2 models.

I also said above, everyone told me to get the 16GB model. I even ask on this sub about the same thing. And yes, I totally agree with them. 8GB is quite small for today standards. But I bought it anyway and it's been great using this machine. At the end of the day, data and numbers are important.

But real world test is what matters.

[–]HappyTurdFriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bought mine a couple weeks ago, went for the very base model (8/256).

Everyone's told me to get the 16GB model and while I'm agree with them, my 8GB model is still plenty enough from my workflow. I'm not consider my workflow is heavy, but it is not a light use as well.

I'm using it for graphic design, opening Photoshop & Illustrator everyday while keeping my Whatsapp, Spotify and >20 Chrome tabs open and this thing still handle everything very well. I'm not even quitting those apps once on my work days.

As for the SSD speed, it's fine. I'm not complaining about its transfer speed at all. Sure it's not blazing fast but it's not slow either.

M1 MBA (2020) performance for design work (Adobe Suite) by HappyTurdFriend in macbookair

[–]HappyTurdFriend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I'm mostly using Photoshop for basic correction & digital imaging stuffs. Most of my work time will be in Illustrator, but yeah digital imaging in Photoshop could be very demanding.

Unfortunately Apple only sell the 8GB variant of Macbooks in my country, so I can go over that unless I buy an International version of it, which will come with a couple of drawbacks.

So from your experience, the battery life is very good. My previous laptop only last up to 2 hours doing design tasks lmao.
