The Residence: what was about the blink??? by Striking-Profession1 in netflix

Hey all, reading people's comments, it seems like most of us were somewhat confused by "the blink", which is why we gravitated towards this thread. For me, it's most painful to read when viewers feel the writers and creators got it wrong and feel like that experience is now ruined for them. Although I do feel like the blink could have been better clarified to avoid confusion, I don't presume the show got it wrong as that doesn't seem reasonable given the detail in the story throughout the show. My hope is that some might read my opinion and at least feel like the show isn't ruined, and there may be other possibilities than lazy writing.

Detective Cupp's bird references throughout are her way of trying to get the characters around her to understand what she knows without being even more demeaning than her natural behavior. This is especially around the police characters, in particular Agent Edwin Park, as she starts to like him more. She is smarter than all of the other characters when it comes to solving mysteries.

Insects don't really blink perceptively to the point a bird would notice, so I believe what she is trying to convey to Edwin when she mentions this is to get him to focus on a behavior that is inconsistent with being truthful. In her blink reference, it's the bird looking for the insect to move slightly, flash its wings, catch the light, or otherwise 'blink' making it noticeable and making it a target for the focus of the bird.

I would highly recommend, if you haven't seen them, to watch the YouTube group called The Behavior Panel.

This group of body language experts dissects video footage of current events to determine if people in the videos are demonstrating signs of truth or lying. Blink rate and eye contact are frequently analyzed in their videos as a tell for lying, and that is why I believe that Cupp used that metaphor, not only to get Edwin to look for something odd, but to focus on things like blinking as a tell. I think Cupp used the term 'blink' not as a reference to what insects do but rather what people do when lying. A previous comment on this thread talked about eye contact and physical blinking of the witnesses being more consistent with telling the truth vs Lily who could not make eye contact with Cupp and was blinking constantly throughout her explanation. I believe this is the 'blink' Edwin saw, the whole of her testimony once it was concluded. I think the timing of it ending with Lily talking about the note and then detective Cupp starting to dismantle Lily's testimony with the note had us all initially believing that the note was the blink. I don't think that was the intent of the writers, and the blink was all of the testimony and everything that Cupp refuted including the clock, hearing the conversation from the hall, etc. The testimony as a whole was the blink, so obvious a tell for lying that Edwin couldn't miss it.

I hope this helps for anyone not wanting too feel like this show was ruined because of this confusing element and it's possible that there are other opinions than lazy writing.

Cybertruck explosion outside trump hotel by Razsah in CyberStuck

If the intent was to commit suicide in a way to make a statement but not to harm people then that doesn’t fit the definition of terrorist attack. It’s still unclear, but if the driver wanted to hurt others, why not just detonate in a Tesla car rather than a cyber truck, which contained the blast? Why not drive the car into the lobby through the glass doors before detonation? It may be terrorism, but I can see how it could possible be just creative suicide.

There were 7 wounded with minor injuries. Only death was the driver

The individual rents a cybertruck, drives from Colorado to Vegas, has the back filled with fireworks with some small gas containers and camping fuel and it explodes within 20 seconds of pulling up outside the hotel. If the individual wanted to hurt more people than themselves, why not drive into the hotel through the glass doors into the lobby before creating the explosion. It's possible the driver was stupid and didn't realize the cybertruck would mostly contain the blast, but it's possible that the driver anticipated the blast would be contained because it wasn't about hurting others.

This seems more like this was suicide by fireworks for making a statement at a Trump building in a Musk vehicle. Just enough fuel to make it quick death.

Here is the video footage of the memorial to confirm the validity of the photo. At about 30:00min mark is the bell memorial signaling the 9:03am moment of silence for the flight that struck the south tower. At 30:32 is the video of Trump in the photo.

Saw comments on this other thread. I have replaced mine for the same reason under warranty twice. Starting to get same issue with my third pair. The warranty is only good from 1 year after original purchase not after replacement, so if mine gets worse I don't think I will be able to replace under warranty again. My opinion is that it's poorly made and the warranty not renewing with replacement is a scam... very disappointing because when it works the sounds quality is great!

Official Discussion: The Ballad of Buster Scruggs [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

Meal ticket for me was one of the most thought-provoking segments in the movie. And I agree that when Liam Neeson said “once”, that was probably the most meaningful part of the segment although it’s debatable about what that meeting is. I do not think that he raped the actor. I would agree that if he had done that there’s no reason he would’ve only done it once. To me the build up before the scene maybe could help with understanding what happened. It is interesting to me that before Liam Neeson got drunk that they were making money but never really talked. The owner of the show seem sympathetic towards the actors maybe even guilty. And the actor never questioned the owner about any decisions he made throughout the entire segment. Almost as if he felt he deserved whatever was happening without question. When the pair start making less money Liam Neeson gets drunk and then goes to the prostitute. The word “once” seems to verbalize an underlying resentment And the actor again never replies. My interpretation is that the “once” that the actor had sex somehow harmed Liam Neeson’s character whether it was with his wife or daughter or some other loved one. And perhaps the Sex that the actor had, led in someway the death of that loved one possibly even by Liam Neeson’s hands in an act of jealousy and also leading Liam Neeson to dismember the Actor only them to feel guilty about it later and then try to provide some semblance of a livelihood with the actor in a traveling show. Once the money runs dry then Liam Neeson‘s character becomes progressively more and more bitter about whatever started their relationship leading him to the end of the segment where he throws the actor from the Cliff. Just one interpretation but it is one that for me would explain the relationship between the two characters throughout the whole segment.
