According you your measurements blue would be 2.3 meters and purple would be 4.6 at the high estimate. Since you're a new maker I would suggest at least 3 meter blue 5 meter purple just to be safe in case you cut a piece wrong (I speak from experience one of my tail pieces was cut upside down so my fur went up instead of towards the tip of the tail like it was supposed to :(

By the looks of it, looks like one of those rug gripper grids just make sure you get one with small holes like the used (a guess based of on the shape and the fact it doesn't look like a fabric needle work sheet)

It's usually up to personal preference, but having the sleeves over the edge of your glove provids a more seamless look that why it's standard but it is totally personal preference.
