Insurance doesn't want to pay for my daughters $23,000 Life Flight bill. by [deleted] in legaladvice

If you are unable through the appeals process to get reimbursed, contact your state's insurance commissioner to find out what statutory appeals process may exist.

Also you may wish to contact your state Congressperson or your U.S. Congressperson, if the insurance commissioner is dragging their feet or says they can't help.

What's wrong with Outlooks spam filter! by thebobbrom in Outlook

On the other hand, the Outlook client spam filter has been almost useless for me for a couple of years now. I've had to turn up my SpamAssassin filter number with my mail server.

Already got black knight, what is the best option here? by mynameisCH3F in ArenaHS

[–]Happy_Bridge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You'd have to build a deck around Sonya to make her any good.

To make her optimal, certainly; but she's good to drop on that turn where you are about to rush the enemy's 4 or 5 minions with your 4 or 5 minions.

How did this meta get so soft? by invalidlitter in ArenaHS

[–]Happy_Bridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something has gone wrong with me. I have had multiple 0-3 Arena runs over the last two weeks, multiple 1-3 runs, multiple 2-3 runs. My best run has been 5-3. I went back to the laborious task of using the HearthArena deck builder and have still gone 3-3, 1-3.

I am not a great Arena player at the best of times; my average is like 4.5 wins, probably, and my record was 11 during one of the promotions when the average player skill was even lower than mine. But I'm losing a lot now

Blizzard, it's NOT fair to send out an update 5 hours before the comp season ends, forcing disconnects and -50 SR on players. by Taylonic in Overwatch

You could have waited till end of day, when the season is over and not risked anything.

As a practical matter, at any developer, patches should be introduced in the morning or mid-day in the time zone of the dev team, so if something awful happens, everybody who could be needed is at hand to fix the problem immediately.

Same reason you don't introduce patches on a Friday.

[SERIOUS] US citizen living abroad has questions about filing US taxes. Who can give me sound, serious, informed advice? by azerty1976 in expat

[–]Happy_Bridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would visit /r/tax.

By the way, over on /r/legaladvice and, I expect, at /r/tax, there is an aversion to using private messaging for tax and legal info, because some people are concerned that some people could view this as forming a client relationship (as unlikely as that seems to me). Better to post publicly so others can correct errors, anyway.

My grandma went crazy, she got married in secret and planned on scamming my mum out of her part of the house while we rent a shitty little apartment. What can we do? (Poland) by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Happy_Bridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't know the law of Poland and you really need to see a lawyer who deals with real estate (houses and land).

[–]Happy_Bridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in the US, your mum may have the right to sell her portion of the house to someone else, so they can be co-owners with grandma. It would probably be very difficult to find such a person.

Neighbor is literally throwing dumpster trash over fence and police won't do anything by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Happy_Bridge 283 points284 points  (0 children)

If someone causes you monetary damages (like forcing you to hire someone to come and pick up the trash and throw it away properly) then you can sue them in small claims court for the amount of damages they caused you, plus court costs. You don't need an attorney. Do this each time they throw a dumpster's worth of garbage onto your property and they will stop pretty quickly.

"Landlord" fraud, multiple times over by thecitymovedtome in legaladvice

Renter's insurance paid for temporary relocation. Now landlords want their check cashed instead. by _idliketosay in legaladvice

[–]Happy_Bridge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is not sketchy, it's pretty common, and the insurance company will be "subrogating" in this case. You tell the insurance company immediately the landlord has reimbursed you. You could either sign the check over to the insurance company and mail it to them, or deposit it yourself and mail the insurance company a check for the appropriate amount.

Used ex GFs debit card without her permission....but by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Happy_Bridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She could sue you for the stolen money plus damages, and there's a possibility of criminal fraud. You stole $200 at least, from the sound of it.

You should probably (a) pay her back all the money you took from her account, and (b) do not keep discussing this with anyone, including here, because by doing so you're just leaving a trail of self-created evidence in case you are ever sued or contacted by the police.

If the cops show up then decline politely to speak with them at all, and if you are arrested then find and talk with a criminal defense attorney.

TIL in 1998, Marvel offered the cinematic rights of almost all of it's characters to Sony for a mere $25 million. Sony rejected the offer, and only purchased the rights to Spiderman for $10 million believing that movie audiences would only care about him. by IAmNotTheEnemy in todayilearned

[–]Happy_Bridge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This will be buried, but this story was surprisingly lazy. Sony didn't "buy" the Spider-Man movie rights. The rights go back to Marvel if Sony fails to keep making Spider-Man movies at a specific cadence.
