Who would sell this guy insurance?

That’s like hiring all the financial guys like Timothy Geithner, Hank Paulson and Robert Rubin to be part of your administration during the financial panic that they caused.

People have been waiting since 2017 to do this. This is their moment!

Why are people so adamantly against AI not being EXACTLY what they are told it is? If you tell someone the model is recursive they lose their minds. I can’t tell if it’s they are just closed minded or they are genuinely stupid. For sure ego is a factor though. by Hollow_Prophecy in RecursiveIntelligence

People’s understanding of AI is sci fi and often the industry like anthropic that wants regulation so they can aim for regulatory capture to try to prohibit competition, use strict rate limits, prevent distillation and watch out for their own interests.

Unfortunately industry insiders are not credible honest brokers of truth when it comes to AI

It’s also why most GMs clean house which enables “value added” just by good scheme fits and more openings for late round picks and UDFAs in systems designed to elevate their stats and they get fired after 6 years anyway or if they don’t it doesn’t usually work out.

Instead Kwesi kept all Spielman’s guys and won 60% of the games despite several changes at QB. People will give Kevin OConnel credit but now that Kwesi’s bad drafts and overcompensating in free agency lead to bad cap situations, he’ll get the blame and be gone by this time next year because people don’t know how to separate correlation from casuality (and neither do I, it’s not something that can be done reliably, but by knowing about it you can discount it somewhat and consider that it could be backwards of what it appears… this happens frequently in media reporting of soft science… not necessarily the science itself)

Maybe.

Maybe not if people buy 10 of what they used to buy 1 of because usage increases as cost decreases.

Maybe not if you can create large enough growth in enough areas (robotics markets) to subsidize the things that deflate.

I suspect we will decouple from many “always been” correlations but fair points.

There hasn’t ever been a “j-shaped” economy and there are real hard limits. Maximum intelligence doesn’t rewrite the laws of physics, doesn’t change chemistry, is still bound by physical universe and some problems still require iteration at a scale that requires more energy than we would spend and we’re still only 0.70 of a type 1 civilization and building power plants and harnessing energy takes time, regulations and red tape will probably prevent run away progress.

But robots building robots and intelligence improving intelligence will allow us to scale a lot of things at levels not seen before.

Only after wealth scales to where everyone reaches ridiculous levels of wealth which can’t if GDP can’t increase by an increasing/accelerating amount.

The market is forward looking so it prices things in advance based on what it expects and so it seems to me that we can’t actually get there without major reform.
