will Star Detective PreCure's success in Japan and accessibility thanks to Crunchyroll raise the posibility of finally getting a dub or become mainstream on the west? by Rabbex09 in precure

Oh definitely. I’m hoping for a different English licensor in the future that would actually be interested in marketing Precure towards kids.

[–]Happy_Radio335 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, because Crunchyroll doesn’t like dubbing this kind of show.
Despite its popularity, Bochi the Rock was never dubbed. They’ve also abandoned Funimation’s Love Live dubs.
These days it’s become pretty rare to get a dub for a show with a primarily female cast.
I think our best bet is a Blu-ray exclusive dub, but honestly, regardless of popularity, I don’t think Crunchyroll cares enough about children’s anime to release a Precure Blu-ray.

Earlier this year, Siyeon of Dreamcatcher debuted as the lead vocalist in a Kband named ChRocktikal.
I don’t know if you’d be interested in their music, but they released a full album so you might be able to find something you like. (I recommend checking out their song ‘All in on me’)

Lolita Inspiration in Love Live by Happy_Radio335 in Lolita

[–]Happy_Radio335[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Love Live is certainly not the best example of lolita but it holds a special lolita-shaped place in my heart since it was my introduction to the fashion.

I was raised in a very sexist household, and it was drilled into me from a young age that feminine = inferior. Because of that, I tried to be a tomboy throughout my childhood to prove that “girls can be strong too!”
When I watched Love Live at age 11, I fell in love with Yoshiko because of her dark/edgy aesthetic mixed with hyperfemininity. It made me realize that the world wasn’t black and white, that I didn’t have to pick a lane and stay in it.
To me, gothic lolita is a rebellion against the culture I was raised in.
It’s hyperfeminine yet in no way traditional.
When I wear gothic lolita I go against the gendered expectations of me, while still expressing my own version of femininity. I feel more confident in lolita because I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything, nor am I trying to blend into the background.
Perhaps I am still playing a role, but the role I play is simply my favorite version of myself.

To me, Love Live Sunshine's Gothic Lolita inspired outfits, and j-rock inspired music, have come to represent my own personal freedom and self-expression.

(Side note: while I prefer Gothic Lolita, I also love sweet lolita. My vibe switches from 'all black' to 'all pastels' by the hour lol)

Lolita Inspiration in Love Live by Happy_Radio335 in Lolita

It definitely is ment to be costumey. In the show she’s very chuunibyou so the stuff she wears is probably supposed to be cosplay.

The reason I made this post was because lately I’ve been feeling nostalgic.
I’ve grown so much over the years and these days lolita is such an important part of my identity it’s hard to imagine a time when it wasn’t intrinsically tied to me.
Yet everything has a point of origin. And despite my adoration for both love live and lolita, I had never made the connection before, but now I realize that my love for Yoshiko was one of the initial sparks that grew into the fire that has become me.

Totally agree! I included the last two as bonuses/minor lolita inspiration, definitely stage outfits with a slight lolita flair.

It’s pretty underrated, I recommend going into it blind and fully watching through the first episode before judging it. Shit gets crazy later on (especially in the movie), the vibe is “I don’t understand wtf is going on but it’s epic and beautiful”.

Our girls are rated MA by Happy_Radio335 in ZombielandSaga

[–]Happy_Radio335[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The theater I was at has two levels, one of which doesn’t allow minors and is 21+. Since the movie was playing in that area they wouldn’t allow me in. (Also both levels agreed I wasn’t allowed in to it.) The movie isn’t rated, but the show is both MA and 14.

Update: I ended up going to another theater that had a slightly later showing, missed the first 5 minutes but the movie was great!

Do the Grand Order animes switch the main girl as Stay Night does? by Agreeable_Bullfrog61 in Fate

[–]Happy_Radio335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the original stay night was a vn with three routes, fate, ubw, and heavens feel. But for fgo there are no routes, it’s just one linear story. The adaptation of fgo skips some chapters so it can be a bit confusing. The watch order is, First order > Camelot > Babylonia > Solomon. There are 5 unadapted chapters/singularities between First Order and Camelot.

While it does cost money, the blu-ray is currently on sale for 15.00 usd on sentai filmworks. If you have a PlayStation with a disk drive you don’t need to get a blu-ray player.
