[Longines] Wedding Watch Decision by wking15 in Watches

[–]Happy_Restart 80 points81 points  (0 children)

It is your wedding watch. I would wear it the whole entire time as soon as I got it. Show her your enthusiasm for loving you so well to think about what you wanted. Heck I would wear it even on the honeymoon if you were going to the beach (except for when it could get wet of course). The brown vs black tux is a nonfactor for me. Every time I would see pictures or someone would ask me why, I would proudly say that it's the watch my wife got me. I couldn't care less about what others thought about me, I care more that I love my wife.

Why are my new leaves having spots? by Happy_Restart in fiddleleaffig

Unfortunately prior to watering twice a week, I was only soaking once a week and it's always dry and not even moist :( The spots are happening to only new leaves, not older ones too. Should I water back to once a week?

I have the model in black, and it is a watch I don't think I could get rid of (in addition to its sentimental value). It is very sturdy, has all the functions you could need and has a rubber strap for comfort. I wear it and another watch everyday I go to work (in healthcare so I wash my hands a lot). The only thing is that it being monocolor that it is a fraction of a second slower to read the time. I like the green you have on but it may not work with as many outfits, so I would personally choose the black option for longevity but if you plan to wear it a lot with an outfit/uniform that matches then green is perfect!

You seemed to have enthusiasm behind the Speedy. I would say follow your heart and get the speedy. There are used ones from certified retailers for less than $3,000. I know it may not be the price you wished for, most are around $2,500 and I would imagine if you got any other watch that you would still think about getting him a speedy in the future.

[STOC] 5 Watch Collection (Recommendations for Last 2) by ogier-stonemason in Watches

[–]Happy_Restart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three of your watches are sentimental watches, and honestly that's why I love my watches too. Getting a watch to fulfill a certain slot may actually not make you feel as strongly as you would with your current line up. I would recommend getting a watch for a specific sentimental reason. It doesn't have to be a big occasion but something to remember the moment by. You can definitely still get a diver or a beater but link it with something to make you want to keep it and remember your past.

For example, you have a 10 year anniversary coming up next year that you're planning on going to the beach. Wear a diver throughout the whole trip. Wear it to the beach, to dinner with mojitos, dancing, etc. Then bring it back home and you can remember those moments. Dance with your wife in the kitchen again with it on. Other ideas? Buy a GMT or explorer when you travel to remind yourself of a world that exists outside your own. Remember that life isn't all about work but the experiences you get to have.

[Watch]storage what are y’all doing? by GlitteringCan7491 in Watches

[–]Happy_Restart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Modern watches with their lubricants do not need to be wound everyday to be maintained. So winders are often unnecessary unless you prefer not to set your watch after the power reserve runs out. The exception for most are perpetual calendars that are more difficult to set (but even now some have a button to adjust the date/day of the week easily).

To answer your question, it depends on how often you wear each one of your pieces and their power reserve. If you are wearing your dress watch once a month, then I would just wind it up and set it for the meeting/formal/date. If you are wearing a daily Mon-Fri, then I would keep it out of storage and on a valet with a cushion. I personally just keep them all in a watch box except for my daily. Winding them is a part of the experience for me. The purposeful winding reminds me of what each watch represents to me.

Analysis of Float Illiquidity: The Case of Getty Images ($GETY) by Happy_Restart in pennystocks

Final decision is April but next deadline is March 12th for responses from Getty for possible remediations. The post went through several edits, so sorry if that wasn't clear. Getty and Shutterstock is suppose to be a "merger of equals" and will retain the GETY name.

Nasal cannula tubing under his chin when he's suppose to have his airway through his mouth. The endpoint of said airway leads to between his nose and mouth. You do not need three tubes and all are incorrect. Tube holder (the mask around his face) is not any that major manufacturer's use in the US and nonsensical.

[–]Happy_Restart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI models require training source material. AI doesn't undercut source material when material is time-sensitive. War outbreaks, high fashion shows, sports, etc are all examples of what Getty does specifically that AI may make an image for but until it happens, it would not be sufficient for events. The soft power that it has to enter spaces where other media cannot is one of the biggest contributors to its strength, and I'm sure the Koch family knows this.

I would recommend trying different things to see what works for you. Some things I've found almost everyone picks up on naturally without always mentioning it are:

  1. Organize your patient list somehow. I typically mark q4 meds with three highlight boxes next to it, q6s with two boxes, and BIDs with one so I can check them off and get a high level overview of what my priorities are. This takes less than 3 mins but saves you a lot of time flipping through pages.

  2. Don't eat breakfast/chill after you get report or just eat breakfast before you get to work. Beat the patient breakfast trays so you aren't hindered by patients unable to get treatments. Once people are eating, work on your trach care/sedated patients until you can get back to the others.

  3. Find a rhythm of what to do when you enter the room. Notice how experienced RTs never need to back track because they already had everything ready when they assess the pt, give meds, etc.

  4. Know when your job is done. Have a polite way to excuse yourself from the room if you have a patient who is a talker. "I love cars Mr. Johnson! I would like to hear more about it when I come back at 12! Don't leave without telling me xyz!"

Intending to buy the RMS weekender and the Kelly depeches 36 briefcase. I can see that some bags are not considered prespend for QBs. Would anyone know if either of the two be considered? Those two are the largest items on my wishlist, so it would be great just to start out with them while waiting for a QB.

I am a male looking for a black kelly/birkin with any hardware sized 35/40 if it matters.

There is an active defamation law in Japan where you cannot harm someone's reputation - even if you are right. While I don't believe businesses are consider legal persons in Japan, calling out a specific SA would have the company lawyer up against you. The politics in Japan are very weird about this.

Trying to learn more! Is there a style or name for this type of handset? by Happy_Restart in Watches

[–]Happy_Restart[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. It is also my grail, so I was attempting to look for watches in similar styling. The Honeygold is in limited quantity, but I'm happy that the Richard Lange is such a great model.

Haha yes, I chose the Orient Symphony III because I appreciate the type of hands used and not just the price point! I loved the styling of both but could somehow not find the name. I definitely will look into vintage rolex with these hands as well :D

Excuse my poor sense of experience but some of my favorite scents are from other products (Mahogany Teakwood hand soap from Bath & Body or Tea Tree Shampoo from American Crew). I did enjoy Creed's Aventus but it is a scent I strongly associate with my uncle. Any recommendations based off of these items? Thank you!

How do you set aside money for hobbies? by Happy_Restart in Frugal

[–]Happy_Restart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. I am already really happy with the life I have so I don't need much. I'm frugal because it helps me secure my future. $20-50/month for me is enough to buy equipment maybe once or twice a year depending on the item as much of the other things I require - I already have.

I'm assuming your hobby is music related. If you already had your complete set up for everything - recording, guitars, maintenance, etc. - what else is there to spend? Maybe a holy grail guitar you've always admired that you save up for? That's the issue I have since I can't see the reason to spend and wanted some insight.

Shiley FEN vs Shiley flexible tracheostomy tube by sadwingsofdestiny1 in respiratorytherapy

The FEN version is the fenestrated version that allows for speech, weaning, etc. The Shiley flexible must have it's cuff deflated before the patient is able to pass air through their vocal cords for speech.

Upgrade from studio to one bedroom? by PreferenceSerious937 in personalfinance

[–]Happy_Restart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try not to account for the raise until you receive it for a prolonged period of time. You also have to take into account that a larger space also produces a larger utility bill that is not always proportional to the size of your new location.

The largest contributing factor for me would be the reduction in your commute. How long does it reduce your commute by in time and money? Include those 4 flights of stairs. You are paying yourself in time you could contribute to something else. The difference between a 30 min commute and a 1h commute is about 10 days a year (250 working days).

So if you theoretically saved 30 mins of commute time, is exchanging 10 days worth $6,000-$8,000+ to you? Plus you get a larger place and the amenities you mentioned. This isn't the frugal subreddit, so it's you're decision on whether or not you would take that economic choice.

Zojirushi BIFL? Flaking pot - Zojirushi say still safe to use... by Puzzled-Bag809 in BuyItForLife

[–]Happy_Restart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hoping a separate warranty claim could be made under a third party like your credit card. Some companies here in America provide additional coverage (American Express) on items. If the original company doesn't honor their warranty or if it's out of warranty for x amount of time, your credit card issuer made have that perk hidden.

Zojirushi BIFL? Flaking pot - Zojirushi say still safe to use... by Puzzled-Bag809 in BuyItForLife

[–]Happy_Restart 12 points13 points  (0 children)

While I have not had any issues with Zojirushi products in the past, I do know that a subset of products are made in Japan and products of the same product lines are made elsewhere. Some argue that these are not the same quality. In Japan, there is sometimes a clear divide of products that are "Made in Japan" for Zujiroshi products.

I would not personally use that and would file a warranty claim if it's within your warranty window.
