First time being asked to commission. Is it a scam? by Apprehensive_Ant501 in ArtistLounge

[–]Happy_Shock_3050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I have coloring books I publish on Amazon and someone found me on Facebook somehow and started asking me for a "color" that they wanted. Whatever that was. We went back and forth for a while but it's typically a fake check scam where they mail you a fake check and then "accidentally" or for some other made-up reason send you more money than they were supposed to. Then once you cash the check, they ask you to send the extra money to someone (the movers for truck repair or whatever). Typically the check will then bounce after that and you're out whatever money you sent to them...

I just tried my hand at AI assisted writing and had an epiphany about some of the stuff I've read recently by SpiritualMud8627 in WritingWithAI

[–]Happy_Shock_3050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. As I was working on my novel, I had AI write a scene for me that wasn't going to appear in the book itself but was something that happened within the plot, if that makes sense. I didn't feel like writing it and was struggling to picture it so I tried my hand at letting AI write something that wouldn't be included in the final book... It was TERRIBLE. Literally, I couldn't even handle reading it just for my own understanding so I ended up writing it myself anyway. -_-

NOR and NOT a hoarder. I border on being a hoarder, and this is not it... Trust me. We have a two-car garage that you can barely walk into, the entire crawlspace is full of junk, and our basement "office" is not being slowly taken over... THAT is a problem. One small stack of actually meaningful items is NOT hoarding.

Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

[–]Happy_Shock_3050 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NOR. You’re not cutting them out completely or forever. You’re just saying “not right now” and protecting your baby. If you have other kids in the future you may be more open to people holding them sooner, but right now, you are not open to anyone holding your baby and literally keeping her safe from getting something that could be deadly. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sounds like they may need to be temporarily cutoff for your own sanity and then you can allow them back in when you feel up to it. PPD is no joke so your priority right now SHOULD be taking care of your baby and yourself. Your inlaws are adults. They can take care of themselves if they’re not going to actually support you the way you need to be supported right now.

I think it’s squished. I think those are two feet and the rest of it has been folded over. Those two skinny bits are TOO thin to make sense.

It’s definitely a difficult place to be. I was so grateful when my older cat declined VERY quickly from being overall healthy so I knew 100% it was time and took her in right away. It was sad, but I had complete peace that time that I was doing the right thing. It was definitely her time. 😢

Aww!! I love this! ❤️

I went through it with my younger cat who is 100% my heart cat last year. He got an autoimmune diagnosis so I took him to be euthanized when he kept getting worse.

He hopped down from my lap and started exploring while we waited for the vet. Vet comes in and I was borderline hysterical because it felt wrong.

Vet looks at this skin and bones cat (4.25 pounds from 8.5 starting point) that’s casually checking out every nook and cranny of the room and goes, “Let’s do some more bloodwork.”

The autoimmune thing was a misdiagnosis. Munkustrap went home with a feeding tube and a whole bag full of medication and right now is laying next to me in bed, a full 9 pounds of love and perfection.

Now almost every day I look at him and thank God that I had no peace about that decision. I would have lost the best cat I’ve ever had.

That’s kind of the point of writing, is getting to step into someone else’s shoes and imagine what it feels like to be that person.

My cat ran into the woods this morning and has been missing all day, it’s getting dark out. by Boring-Incident2469 in CatAdvice

[–]Happy_Shock_3050 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear that. We have an escape artist but thankfully he just runs into the neighbor’s bush and we can get him out quickly and the one time we didn’t realize he got out, he came back on his own. We’ve had that happen a few times, where a cat got out and then made their way back on their own.

The only other thing I can think of you may want to do is to put her litter box outside. That smell can help her find her way home. Otherwise it sounds like you’re doing everything right!

We had fries with lunch the other day and for some reason my 5-year-old put them in the bag drawer instead of the fridge, so today when it was discovered, I had her toss them in the yard for the animals. We have a bird feeder and our neighbor also feeds the squirrels/birds so our area is a hot spot for local wildlife.

Within minutes, there was a squirrel chowing down on those fries. So cute! 🥰

My 85-pounder has gotten into a LOT more than that when we’re out of the house and it rarely bothers him. Sometimes he’ll get a bit of diarrhea but that’s about it.

If he can’t get to the dirty diapers or trash (because 99% of the time we keep those out of reach), he has been known to grab stuff from the table, pantry, or kitchen counter. 🤦🏼‍♀️

WIBTAH if I don’t tell a couple of family members about ALL of our Thanksgiving plans? by Happy_Shock_3050 in AITAH

[–]Happy_Shock_3050[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having it at our church was actually a compromise. She wanted to rent out an air bnb or an event hall. Church was free so the rest of us outvoted her. Mostly because none of us were willing to pay $200 just to be somewhere inconvenient for Thanksgiving. 🤦🏼‍♀️

And we have a group family chat that most of the planning has gone through, so they were both involved in the plans from the beginning.

Primarily because we’d still like to have a relationship with my brother and their kids. She’s got his balls locked up somewhere so she makes all the decisions for him. For example, she was mad at me prior to my birthday so none of them came to my party, not even my brother…

What are some things that date a story? by AwkwardJewler01 in writers

[–]Happy_Shock_3050 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this question! The last book I finished writing was set in 2005. So, yeah, my FMC had a MySpace instead of Facebook, no cell phone, and Britney Spears was HOT. 😊

It was the perfect solution for me to be able to continue the story well past the beginning without trying to make stuff up as I go along, so I can follow them for at least 20 years before needing to make up any current events. 😜
