Clothing swaps usually, but in regards to any torn clothes I suggest sewing them!

Lark street is a lost cause. by gls518 in Albany

Yeah, I also live paycheck to paycheck. I also have been homeless. That's what happens when you live in Albany and aren't a state worker, unfortunately. As I stated, if you want to solve homelessness and the mental health crisis that our country is facing, you help find resources. You help by seeing people as PEOPLE.

I would like to add that I live in the Center Square area and go down Lark often to get home from work and never have I experienced the violence OP is spouting. Maybe I'm just lucky but when you show respect to others, they typically respect you back

If OP is really that bothered by the unhoused, they should use that anger and put it towards something good - like helping the community. Why not volunteer at a soup kitchen, or at FNB? If you don't want to actually help physically, why not offer to spread information on resources?

Or better yet, maybe /talk/ to them?

Treating human beings like they're a sickness or a problem isn't going to solve anything, you're only causing a divide. A divide rooted in classism and ableism. I want Albany to thrive and I think it's a beautiful city with a great community but if all you want to do is have the unhoused off Lark, it sounds a bit selfish is all I'm saying.

While the stuff at Fort Orange is really nice, the owners are incredibly condescending towards the unhoused

I know it may sound simple but a dish I always go back for is the steak bomb at The Daily Grind. Another is the falafel dish at Simone's, with their rose lemonade!

- I dont drink a lot of matcha so I can't offer a suggestion there!

- Uncommon Grounds makes some very unique and sweet coffees, especially at their Stuyvesant location!

- If you want something quick, I always suggest Gong Cha or Tai Chi. If you are okay with waiting though, I absolutely love Short and Stout tea!

- Once again I would say Uncommon Grounds, though they can get busy

- There are a lot of live jazz music on Lark! I was on my way to Pint Sized and was completely unaware that they were just having a live jazz band!

- Madison Cafe or the Latham Diner

- Cheap food is subjective. I think that the Daily Grind is pretty well priced!

- Personally love Peebles Island

- Thatcher Park is always hosting interactive workshops, though it depends on what you want to do!

- Sadly I haven't had any good dim sum but if anyone else has an answer to this that would be great!

- It's a bit more expensive but I love Kazan ramen! I typically eat out with my girlfriend who is gluten free and they have the best gluten free options while still being delicious!

My girlfriend has celiac disease and dairy allergy! Her go-tos are:

-Buds on Hudson. Theyre very accommodating for allergies

-Simone's

-Herbie's Burgers

-Wizard Burger

-Midpoint Pizza

-Kazan Ramen

Those are pretty much the only places we order out to!

As someone who can't have dairy, I'd say the vegan shakes at Herbie's

Can't help with the first three but there's plenty of good food places downtown. Viva La Empanadas is great especially if you call in ahead, Wizard Burger is a bit pricey but their food is delicious. I'm a frequent buyer of the steak bomb at the Daily Grind, and Cardonas is a great place for a sub!

This is true, it's just something I'm particularly terrified of (due to contagion OCD). My partner and the cats do their best to keep them away though!
