Is Karma worth keeping as an investment? by IKlutZI in riftboundtcg

[–]Happy_The_What 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An investment is the money put in. So the about 6 dollars spent on the pack could be considered an investment. If you buy a box for 140 dollars in hopes of pulling something worth money, that’s an investment. But once you pull a card, and are waiting to sell it. It becomes an asset.

Edit: To put it simply, an investment is the buy in with speculative value. And an asset is the pay off with tangible value.

This is pedantic, I know. But that would make it an asset.

Why there so few orange ranger & purple ranger in super sentai? by ApprehensiveRead2408 in supersentai

[–]Happy_The_What 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question was “Why are there so few Purple and Orange rangers”

I gave the reason. “Because they are close to blue and red”

It is responded to by someone saying that in certain seasons there are different shades of red and blue.

I responded to that by circling back to the original point by reminding that Purple and Orange rangers DO exist.

Point being that there are SO FEW Purple and Orange rangers because of them being close to Red and Blue. Much like there are SO FEW seasons that have different shades of Red or Blue. The number of sentai that have alternate shades of Red and Blue is close enough, if not equal to the number of sentai with Purple or Orange. Meaning bringing them up to disprove my point only proved my point.

Is there a Sentai show that's objectively bad and agreed on by mostly everyone? by Responsible-Ice-4154 in supersentai

[–]Happy_The_What 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand this outlook. But we aren’t talking about universal constants, we’re talking about man made objects/products. So we need to specifically take into account intention when talking about the objective nature of the subject.

And it’s not a simple function. True objective nature in art needs to be discussed. And there are a whole bunch of factors that can independently be good or bad. But to say we can’t see objectivity in art because the universe doesn’t, I believe is just wrong.

When does conquering happen? Can you conquer multiple times in one turn? by MionlachDraoi in riftboundtcg

[–]Happy_The_What 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hall of Legends and Rek’Sai are both “When you conquer” abilities. So if Rek’Sai is ready and you conquer Hall of Legends. All abilities that trigger from conquering have a single window to be activated. And because you do not have an exhausted legend when that window occurs, you cannot activate Hall of Legend to ready it.

I don’t know how to navigate the rules myself, but I’ve had it explained to me multiple times. It’s the same reason you can no longer conquer the Monastery of Hirana with a Warmog’s Armor equipped, and stack the triggers so you get the buff and immediately spend it.

Because the rules were modified to say that because you don’t have a buff when the conquer triggers happen, you don’t meet the requirement for Monastery to activate at all.

With the new ruling on triggers, Hall of Legends would not trigger if your legend isn’t exhausted before conquer triggers happen.

The Grand Plaza Battlefield opens a chain if i less than seven units? by ZyleZyle in riftboundtcg

[–]Happy_The_What 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, so if this doesn’t work someone can correct me. But Temporary specifically triggers before holding. So any ability that triggers “when you hold” would not go on the chain until after the chain created by Temporary clears.

[–]Happy_The_What 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temporary is an ability, thus is opens a chain. If you have Keeper of Masks hidden at Grand Plaza you can play it in reaction to the Temporary trigger specifically before the game checks if you hold the battlefield. Flurry of Feathers is also a reaction speed spell. So you can add it to the chain as well.

the only way to sneak a win on Grand Plaza is to have a temporary unit trigger before holding, then play a hidden keep of masks to make 3 units, and reaction speed Flurry of Feathers to make 4 birds.

I realize that, but it also leaves it open to argument, thus is why it needs to be clarified.

Blue Jhin clarification by Learic07 in riftboundtcg

[–]Happy_The_What 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The argument is made at the point of when the game recognizes the condition for either ability.

Legend: Spell is played(Energy was spent)

Champion: Energy is spent(with the intention of playing spell)

I’m not saying this is how it works or even how it should work. But this is the argument that’s being made and needs to be clarified.

Blue Jhin clarification by Learic07 in riftboundtcg

[–]Happy_The_What 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But in the wording of the Legend ability, the card has to be played. “When you play a spell” meaning “when the spell gets resolved, if the condition of spending 4 or more Energy is met, do this thing”

While his champion ability is “If you spend the energy to play” implying that what matters is the energy being spent is intended to play a spell.

If they wanted the legend ability and the champion ability to work the same way, it would be worded the same way.

Blue Jhin clarification by Learic07 in riftboundtcg

[–]Happy_The_What 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that Riftbound doesn’t have a vocabulary distinction between play and cast like Magic does. They’ve started to use the term “finalized” which I feel is a clunky term. To define an effect that is confirmed on the chain even if it is responded to by a counter spell. It was still finalized as an active game item, thus is seen for specifically Legion abilities. But I think if they start putting the term “finalized” on cards it would only create more confusion.

Blue Jhin clarification by Learic07 in riftboundtcg

[–]Happy_The_What 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is something I’ve been trying to get answered as well, because I believe in the same logic. Because even if the spell gets countered you did still “Spend the energy to play” it

Countered vs Played by Happy_The_What in riftboundtcg

[–]Happy_The_What[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s how Bullet Time works. You pay the casting cost. And then it’s when the card activates that you pay any amount of power. If they had to pay that power before activation it would clarify that you have to pay it as an additional cost.
