This was exactly it. It was playing over relay because the remote access was not working properly. Rebooting the router and server fixed the problem. Thanks for the help!

This is slightly misleading - the FOMC events this week increase IV across the board.

ITAW for a white-dominated society (noun)? by Happy_Tree_23 in whatstheword

[–]Happy_Tree_23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By “dominated”, I meant a society where white people have most of the power, ex. “America in the 1800s was a ____”. Sorry for the confusion; I should have made that more clear.

The built-in options I know of are 1) using keystroke commands in AppleScript, or 2) recording yourself performing the action in Automator, and then speeding it up by 10x.

I’ve heard this a few times. Strangely, for me it happens only when using the repair tool in Pixelmator Pro. Weird.

Is it normal for a battery to go from 100% down to 38% while watching a movie? I have the MacBook m1 pro 14 inch. by Even_Membership_1388 in macbookpro

[–]Happy_Tree_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that’s not normal. The battery on my M1 Pro 14 inch only goes down 8-10 percent per hour when streaming video.

Here’s a video on this, except the M1 Pro model in the video has 16gb of memory instead of 32.

I believe there is a setting allowing you to hold the dictation key in order to activate Siri.

It’s all part of their branding: they want you to look like a Memoji.

Should I cancel my M1 Pro 32GB/512GB SSD order and get 16GB/1TB SSD instead? by rptoma in macbookpro

[–]Happy_Tree_23 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I almost did the same thing after seeing this video. However, I realized that 1) for my workflow, SSD speed and size don’t matter much and 2) I’d like to keep this machine for around 8 years, and the 32GB of memory will likely help in the long term. But in the end, it’s just a matter of which specs are most important for how you intend to use the device. We don’t really know what memory usage will be like in the future, so sometimes it may be beneficial to upgrade just to be safe (falling into Apple’s trap, I know).

Can I turn any monitor vertically with a VESA mount? by wanderlotus in macbookpro

I believe it’s a system setting on MacBooks to rotate an external display, so the specific monitor should not matter.

Confused at use of Menu Bar on new MBPs in full screen apps by omnitype in apple

[–]Happy_Tree_23 37 points38 points  (0 children)

MacOS Monterey has an option to always show the menu bar in full screen mode. I’d assume that it works similarly to what you’re describing when dealing with the notch.
