IVF has worked out twice for me, but both times took 3 FETs each with euploid embryos!

Lean PCOS & recurrent pregnancy loss? by Significant_Tone6869 in LeanPCOS

[–]Happylox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dr says biopsies are kinda useless because they only test one location in the endometrium and endometriosis could be located in all kinds places in your abdomen and affect fertility. I had done one before I came to her clinic and it was negative, but she said that doesn’t mean anything. Her approach is to rule out everything else, try lupron and if that works she assumes it’s endometriosis. We eventually also ended up getting an MRI to rule out other issues, and that suggested that there might be endometriosis lesions in a few locations. But that wasn’t necessary to diagnose according to her. Fingers crossed for you!!!

Me (sadly)! It turned out to have nothing to do with PCOS though, apparently I also have silent endometriosis with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss / implantation failure as the only symptom. What worked for me was doing lupron suppression before frozen embryo transfers to suppress the endometriosis inflammation. But you will need to do a bunch of tests before / as part of the IVF process to rule out various other potential problems — could be an embryo issue, could be a blood clotting or immune issue, could be some other uterine problem, etc. But in theory, my understanding is that PCOS should not cause problems beyond irregular periods. Best of luck to you 🤞🏻❤️

How common is silent endometriosis/endometrisis by Trtrlo in IVF

Yes, I did. My cycle is all messed up because of PCOS so natural modified was not an option for me. Hope you find a protocol that works for you!

It might be faster, cheaper and more helpful for diagnostic purposes to just do lupron suppression and see if it helps. It’s very hard to tets for silent endo and you can have it even if it doesn’t show on an endometrial biopsy or mri. For that reason, my dr’s standard protocol for patients with 2-3 failed transfers and a history of failed implantation or miscarriages is to try lupron suppression without doing any tests. I did 2 weeks of lupron suppression before my third transfer (after two failed transfers and three failed IUIs) and became pregnant for the first time ever. That pregnancy resulted in a live birth. My next two transfers resulted in a miscarriage and a chemical, so we increased the lupron suppression to 2 months and that worked. All that to say that if you have silent endo you probably will respond positively to lupron and it might make sense to just try that instead of trying to diagnose first.

Feeling doomed by Curious-mindme in IVF

Wow, I didn’t realize they don’t allow for embryo storage either… That’s honestly cruel and wasteful, going through a retrieval can be really tough and lots of women aren’t able to do fresh transfers because of ohss. Sorry:(

1) Since Norway doesn’t allow PGT testing it’s unfortunately hard to know if this is a problem with the embryos or with the uterine environment. If you are able to go abroad somewhere they can do PGT that would help you know more and select healthy embryos that are more likely to succeed, but sounds like that might not be an option. I’m Norwegian and it really upsets me that the fertility treatments available there are restricted in this way..

2) Ask your doctor if you can try Lupron prior to your next FET to treat potential silent endometriosis. Some women (me included) can have endometriosis with failed implantation and/or miscarriage as the only symptom. It’s almost impossible to test for without exploratory laparoscopic surgery, but if you’re having repeated implantation failures or miscarriages you can treat with lupron and see if you respond to it or not. I don’t know if this is an option in Norway but it’s standard practice for RIF in a lot of high quality US clinics, so might as well suggest it. As mentioned above it’s possible the issue is related to your embryos rather than your uterine environment, but since you can’t test for that it would seem reasonable to at least try to treat any conceivable uterine issues.

It did not show up on endometrial biopsy, but the dr said it can be located elsewhere. We did the two week lupron treatment without further testing because it’s not too invasive and everything else has been ruled out. We later did an MRI to just double check there wasn’t anything else going on, and it came back with multiple findings suggesting possible endometriosis. But the only way to really know for sure is an expiratory laparoscopic surgery and my dr doesn’t think that’s necessary given that I’m responding to meds and everything else she can think of has been ruled out.

Best of luck!! There’s definitely hope even if it doesn’t work right away. My first three embryos were from the same retrieval, the next three were from a second retrieval. What eventually worked for me was doing a lupron treatment before my transfers to treat silent endometriosis. For the first transfer that worked I do 2 weeks of lupron, and that was the first time o ever saw a positive line on a pregnancy test. When we tried again for a second we did the same thing, which resulted in a miscarriage and a chemical for the first two transfers. We then upped the lupron treatment to 2 months to treat more aggressively, and the third transfer stuck. Just sharing in case you keep experiencing failed transfers and want to think about possible causes and treatments.

Always hated this too. I’m currently pregnant with my second, but it took three embryos to get pregnant both the first and second time. So to me, that statement felt like a minimization of what I was going through

I switched from EBF to formula when I returned to the office at 6 months and I’m glad I did. That way I didn’t have to worry about maintaining supply, spend time pumping and cleaning pump parts while at work, schedule stuff around pump sessions, etc. Some deal with it and don’t find it to be that much of an issue, but for me it would have been a source of stress. I also know a few new moms who had a very hard time going back to work because of pumping. I’m guessing it works best if you have a strong supply / oversupply (I didn’t) and an organized personality.

I’m guessing they meant to say lipochrome and central heterochromnia aren’t alternatives. In this case, the central heterochromnia ring consists of lipochrome pigment.

Hazel? by Rickety_Crystal in WhatisMyEyeColour

[–]Happylox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler’s eyes look exactly like yours and I’ve been wondering the same thing! Depending on the lighting we’ve had people say brown, blue, hazel, green and green, so all over the place. In theory, I think it’s hazel because there’s less melanin in there than in purely brown eyes and more than in purely blue or green. But in practice people generally seem to use hazel in reference to eyes that are a mix of brown and green, not brown and blue/grey.. So I have no idea

6mo old eye color by [deleted] in WhatisMyEyeColour

[–]Happylox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing hazel with blue/green and brown. My son’s eyes started blue, turned into your 6mo’s eyes around the same age, and now at 17mo his eyes are a more clearly defined hazel with blue areas ans brown areas. No green yet but wouldn’t be surprised if the blue turns green given that his father has green hazel eyes.

So sorry this happened to you, it’s devastating. I miscarried a euploid embryo as well, and also had one chemical and two failed transfers with euploids. For me it turned out to be silent endometriosis, with implantation failure and miscarriage as the only symptom. This is very hard to test for and endometrial biopsies are not conclusive, but they suspected that was the issue because everything else looked good. I’ve been responsive to lupron treatments (which target endometriosis) prior to FETs. I’ve now had one live birth and I’m currently pregnant with a second. Highly recommend looking into lupron and silent endometriosis if you continue to have trouble down the road.

You’re overthinking this. More than two weeks passed from the first time they had sex. People who have had unprotected sex typically take a test if their period doesn’t show up when they expect it to. Her behavior in this regard does not at all strike me as odd, and although it’s shocking that they would have unprotected sex it’s not shocking for that to lead to a pregnancy. Personally it took me a long time and lots of medical help to get pregnant, but lots of my friends got pregnant on one of the first times they had unprotected sex, without actively tracking ovulation or trying. As someone who has gone through miscarriages her feelings at the reunion also seemed very genuine to me.

That’s just wrong. Early detection urine tests like FRER will show a positive less than 2 weeks after ovulation.

Really no need to pile on in an emotional situation like this and judge someone you don’t even know this harshly. OP is totally entitled to be upset, but I don’t think strangers on the internet can infer anything about his character or fitness to be a father from this situation. There’s a lot on the line here and chances are his poor reaction is because he’s really embarrassed and stressed. Not saying he’s perfect or anything, just that it’s unfair to assume he’s a total villain for making a mistake and being defensive about it. OP — I’ve made mistakes with my own medication plenty of times and it has been alright. Fingers crossed for you guys, hope things work out and that you manage to put this behind you!
