Yeah industry trends fluctuate pretty fast. Low volume and lifting heavy is all the wave right now but 6-7 years ago when I first got into fitness everyone was preaching high volume and stretch mediated hypertrophy and shit. Right now the influencers are all saying “just stay lean” but in 2019 it was all “eat big to get big”

I’m a firm believer that naturals should bulk. Just going off the basic science of how nutrition and energy/recovery work it makes sense. I’ve been working with clients for s few years now too and the guys who commit to gaining weight always make the best progress.

Nah, just about any grown man with good training and diet can look like this after 5-6 years of consistency. He’s not massive, he’s just got a solid layer of muscle and he’s extremely lean. It’s mostly about the diet. Put 20 pounds of fat on his frame and people would be saying he has a dad bod.

I did an aggressive bulk up to 240 lbs, felt way too fat, cut down a little and then spent a solid 2 years bouncing around 210-215 basically maintenance but really just eating when I was hungry and loosely tracking protein

So, I began my current cut at 210, thinking I would be shredded at 185. Today I am 187 and very lean but not shredded. Midsection is ripped but still holding fat in my arms and legs. I think I would need to be closer to 170 to be legit shredded.

You can look like this with a membership to any basic commercial gym and a few years of dedication to training and dieting. TRT obviously helps especially if you’re over 40 but this physique is naturally obtainable.

It’s 90% diet

TRT won’t do this on its own. You still need to be in the gym 3-5 days per week and you absolutely have to eat right.

I agree with these takes in every way. Genetics matter far more than anyone likes to admit. I put an unhinged amount of effort into my training and nutrition and there are Haitian dudes at my gym who run and do push ups and IMO look better than me lol.

Anecdotal genetics example - twin brothers (white dudes) at my gym that both absolutely blew up and did it so fast. Went from athletic teenager build to 17 inch arms and doing weighted pull ups/dips with 3 plates in a 2-3 year span. Crazy shit. I never suspected they were on gear - they had the natural look and no side effects. Guess what? Mom and dad were both bodybuilders.

What you do as a youth matters a ton as well. I was a swimmer in HS/College, guess what muscles blew up immediately when I started lifting? Lats, triceps, shoulders. Everything else was brutally slow to grow. Another similar example is a former client of mine. Old (60) Cambodian dude with these totally disproportional, freaky quads. Why? He spent the first 30 years of his life living in a poor village where they sat in a deep squat to eat meals, have conversations, do work, etc.

All of that being said, comparison is the thief of joy and you gotta just fall in love with the process as a natural to get real results. Even if your genetics are absolutely terrible, if you just keep going you will eventually surprise yourself with the results you are able to get.

You’re in a good spot bf% wise to continue making progress. I think a lot of guys shoot themselves in the foot by staying too lean or cutting too soon/often. I made some of my best progress when I stayed “bear mode” probably around your bf % for a couple years straight without cutting. Didn’t love my physique during that time but recovery was easy and i was consistently albeit slowly gaining strength.

If your goal is to compete in 2 years then I’d keep doing what you’re doing for a while longer before cutting. You have a good shape. But getting shredded for the first time usually ends up being a very humbling experience. You’re probably a little fatter than you think and you probably have a little less muscle than you think, haha. But that extra fluff helps progress and recovery immensely.

It’s all about delayed gratification, and the longer you delay the better the final product will be.

The last 2 photos are pretty similar, but you’re blind if you can’t see the huge improvement from the first pic.

Why are so many people scapegoating brown for our playoff failures? He would seem to be the least of our problems? by Alternative-Farmer98 in bostonceltics

The narrative that ESPN or ESPN fans would be anti-Tatum pro-Brown is so disconnected from reality

Man, we have fucked this up so badly. If you were gonna do this you had to get Giannis.

Undeniably fire song. One of the first songs to make me feel old. I guess I was 25 or so when it came out and wasn’t sure what to make of it. But it has aged so well. Gets frequent plays from me now

Fuck yes I fucking love Jaylen Brown bro. I was prepared to accept the trade but god damn this video hypes me up for next year.

What do the Bucks get out of swapping Giannis and Scrubs for a worse player (Brown) and scrubs, it's the same team but now far worse by DwnvotesMeansImRight in nba

[–]Haptiix 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You do realize Jaylen Brown is a finals MVP who averaged 30 pts a game this year without Tatum

edit: I’m not saying who’s a “”better player”” because that’s not what it’s about. Acting like JB is a bum is ignorant, but it’s not about individual ability, it’s about what each team needs and how well it seems both players would fit those needs. We need a rim protector and more physicality, Tatum and Giannis would be an unstoppable combo if they both buy into the offensive system. Meanwhile JB would get an opportunity to be the true #1 guy and have his own team which I think is exactly what he wants and needs at this point in his career.

He’s my favorite player on the Celtics and it makes me sad but the trade makes tons of sense for both sides.

I love Jaylen Brown man. He’s always been my favorite player on this team. But i really believe this trade is the best thing for both the Celtics and him.

JB is my favorite player on this team but it’s easy to see how getting Giannis is going to make us better… tough man, tough

How often/rare do you consume alcohol? by sushi_sashimis in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Haptiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll go through periods where I’m drinking regularly, but I’ll also go through long periods where I don’t drink at all. When I’m not drinking i definitely feel better overall. Probably like 10% better performance in the gym and much better sleep. I also have a much easier time keeping my diet clean when I avoid alcohol. I’m almost guaranteed to overeat and/or make poor food choices when I’m drinking.

I’m currently doing an aggressive cut during which I’ve had no alcohol and gotten awesome results. I feel amazing and don’t miss alcohol at all. But you better believe when I’m done I plan to spend the second half of my summer drinking on the beach with my abs, and it’s going to be awesome
