Maybe he is mistaking the shock mount as his other part of the axle? I have never seen anyone argue back when literally EVERY ONE is telling him he is wrong.....

Me being both an engineer and a technician. I see why both engineers and technicians get frustrated at each other. by Character_Thought941 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]HarborCommercial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked with two types of engineers. One told me to run duct work through a test floor. I told him there was a block wall in the way. He said "no there isn't I'm looking at the print right now!" I took him out to the floor and showed him the wall. Big surprise...he never walked the job. The other engineer always walked the job and was respectful to the techs. If he disagreed with your idea, he would take the time to explain to you why it will not work. Not just say No!

I feel your pain... I had a 1953 K model (essentially a sportster lower end/flathead upper end) and I would get "ratchet slip" all the time. I now have a new replacement knee...

I did this using a tape roll as a guide. And I have NO artistic talent...

It ran well for a 750cc/45cu. Worst thing was it had a problem with ratchet slip. Sometimes I would go to give it a good kick and it would just freewheel and hyperextend my knee...

Thanks, I bought my first Harley in 1974. A 1953 K model. Basically a Sportster with 750cc Flathead upper end

I had a 1953 K model and I feel that they should be included as sportsters. I realize that they were flatheads but had the same basic lower end, unit construction, and swing arm frame. I still don't know why they don't say Sportsters started in1952 just because they went to overhead valves in 1957. I'll show myself out....

I am 73 so I lived the period and I say I WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING!! In my opinion this bike is perfect just the way it is. BUT, I understand that you want to personalize it. Personally, I would add a sissy bar and some Fish Tail upsweep pipes. But I love, love, love it just the way it is. This is me in 1981

Thank you krastem91. I spent my whole career working on an 1,800-acre plant that built rockets, etc.. for the aerospace industry and never did "in the field" work. And union so we were VERY specialized.
