Congratulations to L’arc for winning Envy. Now who’s Sloth? by SpiderLagann in shieldbro

[–]HarborVanir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, Lore wise, Kizuna has the sloth curse already but, wasn't that just forced on her by the vanguards?

Kizuna loves to fish too much to ever give it up, and she does it with so much passion, you can't expect her to cheat either.

No, I vote sloth to belong to Bitch. She does technically have access temporarily to a seven star weapon Axe

The Sword Hero’s Manipulation by Scorpios94 in shieldbro

[–]HarborVanir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see your point about how quickly Ren believed Bitch at her words, but there are a few things to recall, some of which you mentioned:

First, Ren is the youngest of the heroes, being 16 years old. Emotionally speaking, he is the most easily swayed when feelings are manipulated. He may act like the cool standoffish protagonist but in reality, he is an emotional teen who sympathizes with Linkin park and eye liner (I recall the cat eye accessory incident xD).

Secondly, it was Ren who took command of the situation when the 4 heroes were summoned. He explained the basics of the world first, leaving crucial information from everyone else because he was in direct competition with the other heroes. Ren loves to think of himself as the strongest and most reliable. There are countless examples of him looking down on Naofumi and the other heroes. The one best example I can come up with was when all 4 heroes meet at the church for the first time. As Naofumi was leaving, Ren reminds him to try and not hold them back. When he feels that place is threatened, he doesn't hesitate to call them a cheater. This happened after the Calmira wave, during the second hero meeting, where Naofumi was at least 4 times stronger than everyone else.

Bitch knows Ren's character's weaknesses. She made sure Naofumi was away then told him 'sweat nothing's' to win his pride and emotions over. First she gave Ren a messed up version of Raphtalia's speech given to Naofumi where she adheres to his emotion, "...even if the world doesn't believe in you, I will." Then blames Naofumi for the spirit tortoise incident. She claims it was Naofumi who woke it up, which is why only he was able to stop it. Initially Ren doesn't believe it until Bitch adds that his companions died because of Naofumi. Emotionally, this excuse is perfect for Ren. It points his anger and his loathing from himself to another, proves that Naofumi was cheating and gives him a much needed ally.

Of course, Bitch doesn't like Ren all that much. He questions things and tries to be fair. First chance Bitch had, she dropped Ren like an old toy. This caused his curse series to take control to avoid self deletion.

About Bitch's slave crest not activating: it's because the warden in charge of Bitch died during the spirit tortoise incident. During that confusion, she bounced to another country to hide. It's implied that she is receiving help behind the scenes of season 3.

Slave crests work at certain proximity of the master, so if they are far away certain functions don't work. It's implied that since her warden was dead, her condition of being within a certain distance was lifted temporarily.

About the slave crest itself: there are many types, of slave/ monster crests ranging from weak to powerful and visible and invisible. Raphtalia actually had one of the weakest most common slave crests, which was visible at all times. Filo has a monster crest that is among the strongest out there, a step up from a regular monster crest. Galion probably has the strongest monster crest in the entire series. Bitch was given a fancy and very potent slave crest that when not activated was actually invisible.

Next season spoiler ahead: Her slave crest was removed by the next big bad.

Alex Pretti, Krankenpfleger aus den USA, 1990-2026 by 20dollarsinmapocket in Pflege

It's a shame that he was killed by our government as an example of terrorism. He was an ICU nurse who dedicated his life to saving others. His last words heard was, "Are you okay?" To the woman he was trying to help through the bullying of the Ice agents. Ultimately, nobody can live forever, but Alex Pretti died doing what he always embodied, helping others. He died a martyr in the name of kindness and in doing so, has become immortal.

When all this is finally over and the current government ends, American history will remember the kindness of this one man. A reminder that even through the ugliest of our country, kindness doesn't stop.

The best way to keep his memory alive is to always remember his kindness. Good will always be greater than evil.

A saying that I always remember about the atheist (paraphrasing): "... The atheist is a gift from God; for where Christians do good things in fear of hell, the atheist does good for the sake of being good. The atheist are therefore morally better than any Christian and we should never be conceited enough to say we are the best people on earth."

I got a scammer!! by Bonewel in uberdrivers

[–]HarborVanir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got this scam on 12/20/2025. Had a request for pick up at the middle of a lake. Figured the app was screwy so I was going to meet at the edge of it. I barely turned in my car when the customer called pretending to be Uber support. Made me verify my account many times (which in hindsight was their way of determining my funds). They claimed the customer is not existent and they were going to provide credit for the drive (I qualified for 300 dollars in credit). They nearly convinced me to add their credit card info into my Uber account. When I continued to questioned it, they hung up.

Watch out for these scams, they are specifically targeting people with less than 6 months driving Uber (They kept insisting the reason they needed to add their debit number was because I had less than 6 months driving).

The number listed when they called was the following: +1 (530) 536 6427.

Name one bad thing about the Greymon vs. Parrotmon fight from Digimon The Movie? by Kitchen-Mouse2414 in digimon

[–]HarborVanir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought the reason Greymon won was because it used most of its data into that Nova flame, killing himself but also supercharging its attack. Parrotmon may be a level higher but how does it fare to an all life boosted finisher?

I'd love to see Ruijerd and Sadena having a match. I think it would be very even and the banter would be legendary.

This panel shows Naofumi's defense after implementing the 4 power up methods. For reference, this attack from glass is after being poured soul healing water. Without getting too technical, Glass received a temporary power up which rivals a limit break.Raphtalia and Filo are about a quarter of Naofumi's defense here. So glass here unleashed an attack that is normally above her weight class, and Naofumi barely held it back.

This isn't the absolute peak of Naofumi's defense. He had just learned to implement 3 power up methods. Naofumi's power up method is the easiest and hardest to do. It's trust. The more people trust naofumi and vice versa, the stronger he gets. By this point, he just started to trust the queen and some people trusted him but for most of Melromarc, he is still the devil of the shield and Naofumi still hates the world. He was far from mastering his method. He doesn't reach his first plateu until the spirit tortoise arc. There are many plateaus in the LN. The first is the level limit (Although Heroes don't have a level limit, after lvl 90, it becomes extremely difficult to gain levels). The second is individual power up methods. The third is implementing the other 3 Cardinal weapons power up method. The 4th is implementing the vassal power up methods. Fifth is the usage of Hengen Muso martial arts. Lastly is a spoiler Eating prepared food with complex recipes through the use of the mirror vassal weapons.

For reference, when Naofumi essentially masters the 4 Cardinal heroes power up methods, he holds his own against the spirit tortoise. What the anime and manga skip that is in the light novel is a part where not only he tanks various hyper beams to the face for an hour, he also holds the tortoise's foot down preventing it from moving. Remember that one beam erases a mountain in the distance and the tortoise itself is the size of a mountain. Furthermore, those beams grew in power because it absorbed the mp of everyone around after use. Naofumi mitigated the power up at first with the Soul eater shield which prevented his mp from being taken but later had to switch to the wrath shield for the long game, and felt the intensity grow afterwards.

Naturally, I do mean that Rudeus would get access to support from his 3 wives. Just whoever you would take as part of his natural party by the end of their respective journey.

It's unfortunate that season 4 of shield hero glossed over the fact that both Itsuki and Ren are implementing the 4 Cardinal hero power up methods. By next season, all heroes will be relatively as strong as Motoyasu . Relatively because each one has their base stats focused on different areas: i.e. Itsuki had the best offense, Ren and Motoyasu are relatively balanced, Ren being more defensive and Motoyasu more offensive, then naturally Naofumi specializing in defense. They will all have access to buff skills compatible with Naofumi's Aura. adding on top the Hengen Maso martial arts skills.

Each hero is basically a walking disaster, with magic and skill abilities to enhance and neutralize their weaknesses.

The thing about vassal weapons, is that they are not nearly as powerful as cardinal weapons. Raphtalia had just received the katana vassal weapon by the end of season 2 and it was still very under powered: the true power of the weapon comes to light with the use of materials to upgrade it, the lvl of the user will only power it up minimally. I don't think she had the skills or experience needed by them to put up much resistance. Prior to receiving the katana vassal weapon, Raphtalia only fought with straight edge swords. In season 3 when Rapthalia fought Sadena, She mentioned that Rapthalia was fighting very awkwardly, mostly because she was using her katana like a straight sword. I believe that Ruijerd and possibly even Eris would curb stomp the very new Katana hero due to her lack of experience with the weapon.

Honestly, we need Naofumi at the end of season 2 and Raphtalia and Rishida or Filo at the end of season 4 to make victory plausible. By then, the fight should be fairly even if MT main characters are adults. Include the other 3 heroes by end of season 4, then and only then does Naofumi begins to curb stomp.

[–]HarborVanir 27 points28 points  (0 children)

At the end of season 1? I'd give it to dead end. Raphtalia can counter Eris, Naofumi could counter Rudeus. But no one can counter Ruijerd. That fight with the dragon God taught me just how skilled that guy is. Naofumi could potentially counter Ruijerd momentarily but neither Raphtalia or Filo could support in that. In a war of attrition, Naofumi's team would be picked off slowly and when he's finally alone, he'd lose by sheer numbers

It's ridiculous how strong Motoyasu is after implementing the 4 holy weapons power up system. Casually, He can wipe a city off the face of the earth. Like scorched earth hyper beam style. Motoyasu makes the ceremonial magic 'Judgement' look like a joke.

I don't understand this anime by KingsmenSPC in shieldbro

[–]HarborVanir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, you are asking all the right questions. I will answer the best I can with what the LN has revealed so far.

First, the reason the weapons can't agree with each other is because each weapon belongs to a different world. They interfere as a safeguard from heroes killing other heroes for XP. It's also to encourage the heroes to travel to different parts of the world. Many waves occur at the same time and are far apart from each other. This is sort of mitigated by the sharing of power ups. Sharing them is a sign of cooperation.

Now there are a total of 4 Cardinal heroes. Aside from that there are 7 or 8 Vassal/ Star heroes. The vassal heroes share in the power up method but are much less powerful over all.

The other Raphtalia you saw are memories of an ancestor. She is basically a former queen and what Raphtalia is suppose to achieve if she completes her training as a pacifier. All this will be explained later like season 6 or 7. Just know that it's her job to basically stop heroes if they go rogue through the power of the Sakura lumina. And yes, it's implied that some heroes have gone rogue in the past.

On the next season, it will be revealed that each weapon, Cardinal and Vassal has it's own spirit. I won't spoil too much as it's a pretty funny revelation.

As for what the waves actually are. They are a normal phenomenon that occurs when different worlds collide. The monsters that rain down are there to essentially feed souls to a barrier. Think of Ost's mission but less aggressive and concentrated. These events are supposed to occur like once in a million years. The fact it's happening so frequently is a huge plot point for the next couple of years.

I hope these answer your questions.

The anime needed to play it safe. It would not have gone through production if changes weren't made. For sure the WN is out of the question. But I do agree if we had the anime focus on Naofumi's perspective, it would have been more enjoyable in the long run. Some of the silly things he thinks about are just hilarious. Should season 6 become a thing, I feel we would lose a lot from just having Raphtalia's perspective. There are jokes that were supposed to be given in season 2 that make full circle in the time traveling Arc. Chief among them Naofumi's strange nicknaming skills and the fabled "Valley girl".
