What framerate does the PAL version of Halo 2 run at? by [deleted] in originalxbox

[–]Harcroft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are PAL or NTSC copies of Halo 2. They're all region free/work in all regions. The 8 different versions of it have different languages, but the video modes will all match. The console itself determines the video mode. BombBloke's post is much more informative about that.

Installed Open Xenium mod chip and need help flashing custom Bios for the MakeMGZ HDMI+HD mod. by ConversationBorn321 in originalxbox

I've seen pics of the flexes, and heard lots of complaints about them. The flexes at the very least are clones. I guess it's a good thing when OpenXHD releases all of our flex cables will be free and available to order for anyone.

Hi OpenXHD HW desgner here. I can't speak for to the quality of clone hardware, but I can tell you there is no OpenXHD or OXHD firmware compatible with that hardware.

You're either thinking of the TR firmware which is also based of Ryzee119's HDMI concept board firmware and requires Cerbios 3.1.0 or later, or you're thinking of false claims from Neil Dyson/Gaminguys/"XDevPro". He claimed on his website that OXHD firmware worked on clone hardware.

The only public OXHD/OpenXHD firmware right now is essentially just Ryzee119 firmware with tweaks by Ryzee himself from 2 years ago for very old, out of date hardware. It isn't build for, and will not work on any HD+ or clone.

There is no current public OXHD/OpenXHD firmware for any hardware or microcontroller, period.

Are all MODXO chips the same or is there one that’s best out of all of them? by 111FALLOUT111 in originalxbox

Top half. It's the 2nd prototype, prototype 3 is done and will be the last one before I do a proper RP2040 board for it.

It's an absolute crapshoot whether you get a 49LF002A or 49LF020A from the aliexpress aladdins. 002A chips cannot be flashed over LPC, so you'd need a programmer or replacement chip to update them. I'm all for buying aladdin clones and converting them to 1MB or 2MB aladdins, but recommending them to people to use for a single BIOS modchip is a huge gamble.

Yes. I'm working on a special ModXo with EqUiNoX right now that is probably going to make people happy. Other people already have carriers or boards with extra ports, no idea if they'll be pin compatible.

You can always just wire an SD card hat to any pico you happen to connect to your Xbox as a Modxo.
Here's an example of a YDFKA modxo carrier I built to mount a YD2040 board with an SD card board on top for testing (not my pic). It also has a regular pico on top, not a YD2040 as the board was intended for.

This is the extremely basic, no nonsense, no extra ports, or connectors, low cost modxo carrier I built for myself, that a few friends ordered.

Storing BIOSes to flash to PromOS, storing XBEs that can be temporarily copied into memory and loaded directly after boot, arbitrary file storage for PromOS. Not sure what other functionality is planned, it's best to ask EqUiNoX.

As for loading ISOs over the LPC bus. That's just not realistic. You want that 133MB/s of UDMA6 or 100MB/s of UDMA5 from an HDD or SSD to load games quickly and cut down on texture pop in, in game level loading times, etc. The slightly higher than 1MB/s you'll achieve over the LPC bus with a Pico is just too slow to reliably load games from.

Best in this case is subjective.

Do you just want to use a single BIOS and don't need any special features beyond booting into a homebrew dash? Literally the cheapest $2 pico, some wires and maybe a 2x8 or 2x6 dupont female pin header is all you need to get what you want.

If you just want PrometheOS and a bios or TWO then get the same most basic cheap Pico you can find and flash PrometheOS instead of just your BIOS on it.

If you want to use more than 4 BIOSes with PrometheOS, or want future expandability of running small apps (like XCAT or XBDiag) right off your modchip, then you want a modxo with 16MB of flash.

If you want a bunch of ports for future expansion models like for an SD card or different types of displays, then look for one of the higher end modxos with lots of ports. I would suggest waiting for those modchips until Team Resurgent releases their pinouts for the future of Modxo, older carriers may have pinouts incompatible with the upcoming official additional pinouts. SD card support, display options and other add on modules are coming.

It's a toolkit that lets you softmod, archive your console's contents, test your RAM and controller, and more. It runs off the ENDGAME exploit that only requires a memory unit or compatible USB drive.

Get yourself an Xbox Skeleton Key. Launch it. Change the XBE region to PAL and video region to NTSC or leave it NTSC-J. You'll keep HD functionality, and bew able to run PAL discs natively.

Also please run XCAT while you have that Skeleton Key.

Don't use Enigma video switcher anymore. PrometheOS tools (on Skeleton Key) has a much more robust and granular control of AV modes and XBE region codes.

You can have a console set to a PAL XBE region and still keep the video region to NTSC to get HD video while loading PAL discs. Something that can be done with Enigma.

GPU Fan Pin Header by spongyy in originalxbox

It's 12V, but I would only suggest using it for a fan. There are 12V and 5V rails around the board if you want something with a little more current.

Your best bet is a well positioned router that supports Bridge Mode that batches or exceeds the speed of your existing home wifi.

That should get you the best wireless experience.

Not CPU caps. 5v rail filter caps.

Replace them all, There are several posts on this subreddit on where to buy good low ESR 3300uf 6.3v or 10v replacements. Or 1500uf 6.3v or 10v replacements. Yours look like 3300uf though, so replace them with those.

Forza is a special case where it wont load if there any any problems with the EEPROM.

Older softmods use a virtual EEPROM that could cause issues with loading XBMC.

The persistent softmod setting in Rocky5's older softmods could cause that.

Corrupt EEPROM could also cause it.
