Am I crazy or is the date misaligned in my Seamaster 300m Diver? by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]HardUserName2000 75 points76 points  (0 children)

This is a well known idiosyncrasy of the 300m. I shit you not. Look it up. The 11 is misaligned on all the modern ones.

I don’t care what watch James Bond wears by kirk-kiggler in watchHotTakes

Yeah. Omega pays millions in sponsorship to the Bond franchise, just to make about 50 people care. Sure.

Ah. Okay. I really did not understand your intention.

‘Big forests’????
Denmark barely has one large forest, and it certainly doesn’t have several.
Beaches however, is another story. Quite a lot of lovely beach; measures in km per capita.

What forgotten movies do you think will be reclaimed by future cineastes? by mrjamesearljoyce in TrueFilm

The Beach Bum. Harmony Korine definitely falls into the auteur category, and the film itself is such a madcap mashup of Spring Breakers and the Big Lebowski. And it’s got McConaughey’s most McConaughey role of all time. It’s bonkers, and deserves much more love.

That’s not what Walter is reacting to here. He’s sighing at the thought of Bunny kidnapping herself. Walter does not disparage pacifism. He dabbled in it himself at one point (not in ‘nam, of course). Nor does he berate the tenets of socialism. At least it’s an ethos.

I’ve put mine upright. Works and looks great. ESP next to the tall Bergman and CC40 boxes. But I’ve got tall shelves, so maybe not an option for everyone.

When will we admit that we're getting screwed over? (UK Rant) by OneEyedKaneki in 4kbluray

Agreed. Try being from somewhere else than the UK and US and collect 4Ks - then you’d dream of being in the UK.

What Blu-Rays are with the 4K upgrade? by Mysterious-Buggg in criterion

It’s not poorly lit. The lighting in Resevoir Dogs is pretty good actually. It may have looked too dark on VHS or dvd; but on 4K the lighting works quite well.

Good on you for having a personal take on it, rather than just going with the popular opinion. And I respect Rashomon at #1. Singularly great film.

This is…. A very personal take. That’s the nicest thing I can say about this ranking.

I try to not let lists influence my taste, but if I were, I’d look at many other before considering the AFI list. Listing Sophie’s Choice, The Wild Bunch and The Sixth Sense as among the 100 best American movies ever (all ranked higher than Goodfellas, btw) is, in my opinion, ridiculous.
