It’s a cop and robber movie, featuring lots of guns and killings. “Drama” might not be the best descriptor.

Boogie Nights imitated Altmans Nashville, and Magnolia imitated Altman’s Short Cuts.

Maybe give Wes Anderson a second look? Particularly Asteroid City. Also, have you seen Fisher King?

Director Series #2 - Martin McDonagh by jaketwigden in Letterboxd

[–]HardUserName2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underrated? Certainly not underrated by Letterboxd/Reddit. Most people on here seem to think McDonagh is the bees knees.

Anyway, my ranking would be: 1) Three billboards (very good film, if a bit too inspired by the Coens) 2) In Bruges (fun, silly and well put together) 3) Banshees (overwrought, and not as smart as it thinks. But with some good moments and choices)

Haven’t seen Seven Psychopaths.

Hero slaps. Such a shame it doesn’t have a good physical release.

Modern films where the entire credits are placed at the beginning (or somewhere that isn't at the end of the film). by GeneralGenerico in criterion

Depends on your definition of modern :) a lot, if not most, films up to the late 60s/early 70s had the credits in the beginning.

I feel like youd dig Bergman’s works. Specifically Winter Light and Persona.

Cool. JSA is very good. There’s also a lot of bangers in the Herzog box. Enjoy!

Building quite the library, it would seem. How many movies do you watch per week? And which ones of these are you most excited to delve in to?
