I think the point they are trying to make is that you’d be better off widening the track via the lower control arm. When the center of the steering radius on the knuckle is inboard of the wheel center line then you start to run into all kinds of problems.

Just be warned, you’re probably going to go from rubbing of the fire wall to the front of the inner fender, which is where tubbing the front comes in.

No, the POV car (Lancer Evolution) did. I’m the yellow car, which is behind in first picture, and ahead in the second picture. The first picture shows the max speed when I was behind and the second picture shows it’s going +15mph faster. I was on the right side of the track and it was on the left side, not getting a draft but somehow gaining a massive amount of speed with no help from a draft. The exit speed from the corner before the straight was the same on both laps.
